4 OVERVIEW Features and Capabilies CDI s LineStat radio system provides your CD52 Bandit with the ability to autonomously monitor pig passages and send remote noficaons as s or text messages (see pg 20, LineStat Informaon Flow). LineStat requires no cellular telephone network, and funcons anywhere in the world. Retrofing your Bandit requires only a subscripon to LineStat service (available through your CDI distributor), and this Satellite Kit. 6 INSTALLATION 1. INSTALL MOUNTING NG PLATE Install Radio Mounng Plate ( ) to the mounng bracket with #4-40 flat head screws, washers, and nuts. Page 6 of 24

7 2. INSTALL BRACKET Install Bracket to Bandit with 1/4-in. capscrews, flat and lock washers, and nuts. Reaach metal cerficaon tag. Secure with 7/16 wrench. Page 7 of 24

8 3. INSTALL SR100 RADIO Posion SR100 Radio onto mounng plate with connector facing the bracket slots. Insert four #4-40 pan head screws and ghten (do not over-torque plasc parts). Page 8 of 24

9 4. INSTALL CABLE The sealed juncon box houses the terminal block where the LineStat t system is connected to the Bandit. LineStat cable is routed through the side hub as shown: Remove hub plug* with 10 mm allen wrench or hex drive. Page 9 of 24

11 Determine desired length of cable. Approximately three (.9 m) of cable is adequate for most Bandit configuraons. Measure from radio connector strain relief and cut off excess. Disassemble strain relief. Thread cable through strain relief components and through enclosure as shown. Page 11 of 24

12 INSTALL CABLE (cont.) Strip back outer insulaon about 4 in. (100 mm). Trim off all but black and white wires. Tin wire ends with soldering iron. Aach black wire to COMMON terminal andwh white wire to NORMALLY OPEN terminal (see following page for wiring details). Page 12 of 24

16 5. INSTALL BATTERIES THE LineStat SR100 Radio is shipped with fresh lithium baeries. Normal baery life is three years. Unless there is a need to replace baeries, skip to Secon 6. Should the baeries require replacement: Unscrew and remove baery cover. Insert Baeries. Use only Energizer 1.5V Ulmate Lithium AA baeries. Page 16 of 24

17 Replace baery cover. Ensure gasket lays flat in its groove and all mang surfaces are clean. Page 17 of 24

18 6. CONNECT SR100 RADIO Remove Connector Cover The cover features a built-in pin jumper. When removed, the SR100 will be acvated and remain in a passive ready on state awaing passage detecon. Do not discard this cover, as it is to be used when unit is to be shipped or deacvated (see note). NOTE: The radio is acvated when the cover is removed, deacvated when replaced as shown ( OFF nomenclature visible). The cover is also designed to protect the connector pins when unit is out of service or in transit. Page 18 of 24

20 OPERATION Using LineStat Your Bandit works exactly as it did before adding LineStat, except now, when it detects an event, the SR100 Radio will be triggered by the Bandit s SCADA* relay and will transmit its GPS coordinates to a Globalstar satellite. The informaon is beamed to CDI s Data Center where a detailed noficaon message is processed and relayed to you. This message includes local me, GPS posion, and an overhead satellite image of the system s present locaon. A link to the job locaon via Google Maps is also provided. GPS GLOBALSTAR * SCADA A (Supervisory Control and Data Acquision) compable normally-open relay contacts which are used for passage annunciaon (LineStat Radio, lights, horns, etc.) where an unmanned passage must be monitored. 22 WARRANTY, CARE, MAINTENANCE, AND SERVICE Warranty All equipment sold by Control Devices, Incorporated (CDI) is warranted for a period of one (1) year from the date of shipment to Purchaser, providing the instrument or equipment has not been modified, abused, or used for purposes which it was not designed for. Baeries, probes, leads, magnets, and other consumables subject to wear are not covered by this warranty. CDI will repair or replace faulty equipment during the warranty period when the cause is a defect arising from faulty design, materials or workmanship. Making a Warranty Claim Equipment being considered for warranty repair, or a representave sample thereof, must be returned to CDI at the Purchaser s expense. The goods must be accompanied by the Purchaser s wrien order* describing the defect(s) and authorizing CDI to invoice the Purchaser for any charges not covered by the warranty. Upon receipt of the equipment and Purchase Order, CDI will examine the equipment and make a determinaon of the nature and cause of the defect. If the defect is not covered by the warranty, CDI will quote to Purchaser the cost for replacement or repair equipment, and will not proceed unl Purchaser delivers a wrien acceptance of the quotaon. During the one year warranty, CDI will bear the cost to return units repaired under the warranty back to the Purchaser s domesc premises. 23 Care and Maintenance Equipment designed by CDI is protected against the environment in which it is intended to operate. Much of the equipment is designed for prolonged use in the field without any special maintenance other than roune baery replacements. It is the Purchaser s responsibility to insure that proper precauons are taken during installaon and operaon so that weather seals are in place, roune maintenance occurs, etc. Failure to perform these operaons nullifies this warranty. CDI equipment should only be operated by qualified personnel who are familiar with any and all manuals and procedures for said equipment s operaon. Service and Repairs Cost for repairs not covered by the warranty or carried out aer the warranty period has expired will be charged at the current hourly or set service rate, plus the cost of materials, upon approval by Purchaser. Equipment for repair must be sent at the Purchaser s expense and be accompanied by the Purchaser s wrien order describing the defect and authorizing CDI to invoice the Purchaser for labor, materials and return delivery cost. No service or repair will be undertaken unl an approved wrien order is received from the Purchaser. Operang equipment while in a damaged condion nullifies this warranty. Page 23 of 24
