3 FGA activities on design phase : IMDS & IDIS From 2001 Fiat Auto use International Materials Data System (IMDS) for the design of new vehicles IDIS consortium supply all information concerning material composition and disassembly of components. 3

21 Italian ELV trial: first results The reuse and recycling quota 2006 in Italy measured by means of real weight is: > 80% With following calculation expression: 630 (Md + Mre + Mri + Mm) + MFe + MnFe I tot = 630 (Mv + Mm) Md = depollution weight Mre = reuse weight Mri = recycling weight The detailed Italian trial results will be elaborated together with Authorities Mm = weight of missing parts MFe = ferrous metal weight MnFe = non ferrous metal weight Mv = vehicle weight 22

22 Conclusion After have reached the Vehicles Manufacturer obligations of the European Directive 2000/53 for 2015 targets Fiat Group Automobile is hardly working on following items: Post Shredding Technologies: in Italy actually no industrial plants on post shredding technologies Energy recovery technologies: in Italy few Waste Energy Plants Option to use recycled materials (Italian waste transportation laws as economical restrictions) Option to work with Authorities and chain actors: Framework Agreement to help target achievement 23
