4 Airvolution Using six blades instead of ten, AirVolution fans work by generating a large column of air that gently flows down to the ground and outward 360 degrees. The large, slow moving air mass moves throughout the space, mixing and circulating air more efficiently. The remarkably quiet operation of the AirVolution fan won t create unnecessary noise or distraction and the gentle airflow won t create or stir up dust. 6 MANUFACTURER: MacroAir Technologies Inc. 794 S. Allen Street, San Bernardino, CA HVLS FANS PART 1 GENERAL 1.1 SUMMARY A. The mounted High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) fans shall be MacroAir Fans. The fan model shall be of the AIRVOLUTION line. 1.2 REFERENCES A. American National Standards Institute/Air Movement and Control Association (ANSI/AMCA) Standard Laboratory Methods of Testing Air Circulating Fans for Rating. 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Submit under provisions of Section B. Product Data: Manufacturer s data sheets on each product to be used, including: 1. Preparation instructions including recommendations. 2. Storage and handling requirements including recommendations. 3. Provide cut sheets on each product specified showing power and mounting requirements. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Providing sole source for design, engineering, manufacturing and warranty claims handling. B. Installer Qualifications: Installation services are available upon request by a factory installer. Any and all work varying from that as described through the installation guide will be outsourced. Installer trained by factory (preferred). 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Deliver materials and equipment to project site in manufacture s shipping carton. B. Store products in manufacturer s unopened packaging until ready for installation. 1.6 SITE CONDITIONS A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer s absolute limits. 1.7 COORDINATION A. The fan shall be capable of receiving a stop command from the fire panel, a VESDA, or any number of smoke, flame or heat detectors. B. The fans shall be as follows: 1. The fan shall meet the air velocity requirements of FM Global s 2.0 data sheet for ESFR sprinklers. 2. If required by the local fire prevention authority or desired by the purchaser, the fan shall be wired into the building s fire suppression system so that the fan will shut off as soon as a fire is detected. To facilitate this, the fan shall include a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) within the control panel. The low voltage wire and relay needed to accomplish this must be supplied by the Fire Alarm installer. 3. When the fan is shut off, upon fire detection as described above, the fans shall come to a complete stop in less than 30 seconds.

7 1.8 WARRANTY A. Manufacturer shall repair or replace defective parts in accordance to the following list of warranted parts: 1. Twelve year service life prorated limited warranty. 2. These include any guy wires and safety cables as well as blade retainer locking features. D. Adjust unit as required for proper operation in accordance with manufacturer s installation instructions. E. Securely anchor units. F. Ensure that operating parts work freely and fit neatly. G. Repair or replace damaged parts, dents, buckles, abrasions or other damage affecting appearance or serviceability, as acceptable to Architect and/or Engineer. 3.2 PREPARATION A. Check accuracy of dimensions indicated for openings to receive fans. B. Check location of utility services. C. Coordinate location and installation of the HVLS Fans. D. Ensure building structural members are sufficient to support the weight and operation of the fan. Consult professional engineer, registered architect and building codes as required. 3.3 PROTECTION A. Protect finished Work until date of Substantial Completion. B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion. 3.4 CLEANING A. Clean Work per Section B. The fan model shall be of the AIRSTAR. 1.2 REFERENCES A. American National Standards Institute/Air Movement and Control Association (ANSI/AMCA) Standard Laboratory Methods of Testing Air Circulating Fans for Rating. 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Submit under provisions of Section B. Product Data: Manufacturer s data sheets on each product to be used, including: 1. Preparation instructions including recommendations. 2. Storage and handling requirements including recommendations. 3. Provide cut sheets on each product specified showing power and mounting requirements. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Providing sole source for design, engineering, manufacturing and warranty claims handling. B. Installer Qualifications: Installation services are available upon request by a factory installer. Any and all work varying from that as described through the installation guide will be outsourced. The fan shall meet the air velocity requirements of FM Global s 2.0 data sheet for ESFR sprinklers. 2. If required by the local fire prevention authority or desired by the purchaser, the fan shall be wired into the building s fire suppression system so that the fan will shut off as soon as a fire is detected. To facilitate this, the fan shall include a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) within the control panel. The low voltage wire and relay needed to accomplish this must be supplied by the Fire Alarm installer. 3.
