2 Our experience stands for quality Back in 1927, when Walter J. Hilger founded the company in Ziegelhausen near Heidelberg, the core business focussed on the distribution of spray valves and v-belts produced by an American manufacturer. Through the development of high quality innovative products the company soon de veloped into an important supplier within the German marketplace. In 1936, Wilhelm Kern took over the management of the company and built up the trading company Hilger u. Kern that later became Hilger u. Kern GmbH. In the beginning, a small workshop produced components such as metering and dispensing valves as well as drum pumps for automotive suppliers. Even at this time DOPAG and Hilger u. Kern GmbH were working closely together. Both companies were focussing on high quality products and market orientated activities. The product range increased steadily and in the years following, developed further. In addition, multi component metering and mixing systems for low to high viscosity single or multi component polymers were produced. Max Schmeling becomes European cruiserweight champion. Kern / Dopag Group is one of the leading manu facturers of metering and mixing systems in the world for both plural component polymers and epoxy resins, and single component media such as greases, oils and pastes. Metering technology activities began in 1976 when DOPAG Dosiertechnik und Pneumatik AG in Cham was founded. Metering Technology The systems available in Europe at that time were simply not suffi ciently developed to meet the needs of the market. DOPAG and Hilger u. Kern therefore embarked on a programme to develop and construct metering and mixing systems that concentrated on the demands of the European market. Even today, we concentrate our production on customised solutions and produce systems on 3 different manufacturing sites. Depending on the requirement we can create the optimal customised solution, often performing extensive tests with original materials, either in our service department or at the customer s site. To help us to select the right equipment for each applica tion, we have a wide product portfolio which ranges from simple proportioning units up to micro processor controlled metering and mixing systems that can be used in combination with robots, automated systems or vacuum technology where appropriate. Our systems can easily be integrated into existing assembly lines. The fi elds of application for these products are numerous and they can be found in industries such as: automotive, machine construction, electronic and electrical, energy generation, aerospace, precision engineering, medical technology, packaging and paper, plastics, woodworking, leisure, glass, solar technology and in the manufacturing of rotor blades for wind energy generators as well as in many other industries.
