2 COMPETITION RULES FOR DRIFT HERO ASIA CHALLENGE 2016 FINAL 1. Technical Rules 1.1 Chassis Must be 1/10 scale, electric powered, RC drift chassis For RWD class, the motor must only drive the rear wheels For 4WD class, the motor must drive all 4 wheels Minimum ride height is 5.0 mm for carpet track Each driver is only allowed to use one chassis throughout the event Each driver must have their own chassis and car body (not shared for different drivers) Smoke and Sound devices are not allowed Driven wheels must be attached to independent suspension Battery pack must be mounted between the front and rear axles Bumper must be safe toward other competitor s car Overall length: Max. 490 mm. Wheelbase: Must be between 240mm 270mm. Overall width: Max. 220 mm. Overall height: Max. 150 mm Wheels must be 1/10 scaled depicting a real car wheel. Dish wheel designed for 1/10 Touring Car is not allowed. 1.2 Weight Limit For RWD class, maximum weight 1100g over the rear wheels. Weight is measured based on race ready condition, including battery and car body For 4WD class, weight must be between Min. 1380g to Max. 1950g. 1.3 Car Body Must be 1:10 scale, drift car body depicting a real car. 2/7

3 1.3.2 While driving, the body must be properly attached to the chassis Wings / spoilers on the body may not stick out more than 5mm from the side of the body. They should not be used to affect the driving of other cars on the track Body must be painted, except for the window section Body windows must be transparent or tinted Lights systems are allowed on the body Must have minimum 2pcs number stickers on the body during Qualify and Twin Battle. One sticker must be on the front windshield and another on the side window which is most visible by the judge(s) Rear wing end plates must not exceed 40 mm x 40 mm The front windshield must remain intact. Side windows and rear windows may be removed if desired Only R.C.D.C. approved bodies are permitted (Front/Rear Hybrid body is allowed). ( 1.4 Motor Motor must be 540 can size Only brushless system is allowed Motor must have a visible brand name and is readily available in the market Motor winding must be between 6.5T to 13.5T. 1.5 Speed Controller Motor speed controller must have a visible brand name and is readily available in the market Turbo and Boost features are allowed. 1.6 Battery Must be 1-6 cell NiMH/NiCd or 1-2 cell LiPo/LiFe battery pack LiPo/LiFe batteries must be enclosed inside original hard case. Soft pack LiPo/LiFe batteries are not allowed LiPo batteries must be stored inside safety bag while charging Batteries must be charged by a suitable charger for that chemistry. 3/7

4 1.6.5 For 2 cell LiPo batteries, the max allowed voltage is 8.4V Use of battery heater is not allowed Use of LiHV battery is not allowed. 1.7 Driving Assist Gyro is allowed for RWD class only Gyro can only be used to assist steering of servo(s). Using gyro to assist throttle control is not allowed. 1.8 Control Tires The designated handout control tires must be used on all 4 wheels during Qualify and Twin Battle Tournament Swapping or matching tires between drivers are not allowed Modification to the handout control tires is not allowed Sanding of the control tires is not allowed The tires must be mounted according to the original designed orientation. 2. Judging Criteria 2.1 The judge panel is consisted of 3 independent judges. 2.2 The judges will score or deduct points for each driver s runs based on following criteria: Maintaining the ideal racing line Counter steer angle and angle change Speed while drifting Overall style, smoothness, and car control Feint drifting within the designated zone Positioning of the car relative to the edge of the race track and each clipping points. Points will not be deducted for going slightly off track, if the car can maintain composure and follow the ideal racing line Ability to stay as close as possible to the lead car while avoiding 4/7

5 a collision. Points will not be deducted if the chase car just hit the lead car lightly, and does not affect the composure of the lead car (For Twin Battles) During Twin Battles, the lead car should drift in a manner that is representative of his qualification runs Lead car should not cause a collision with the chase car by deliberately slowing down or braking unnecessarily (For Twin Battles) Overtaking is not allowed unless the lead car makes a mistake and deviates far from the ideal drift line (For Twin Battles) Drivers must maintain their cars in a drift throughout the Judging Zone (from Start Line to Finish Line) Additional judging criteria may be announced during driver meeting before competition start. 3. Qualify Rounds (Tanso) 3.1 There will be 1 Control Practice round and 2 Qualify Rounds. 3.2 Each driver will have at least one Qualify Round. 3.3 Each driver will start with 100 points for each round. 3.4 The judges will deduct points for each mistake. 3.5 The top 8 drivers from 1 st Qualify Round will advance to Final. The remaining drivers will enter 2 nd Qualify Round. The top 8 drivers from 2 nd Qualify Round will advance to Final. 4. Finals Twin Battle Tournament (Tsuiso) 4.1 The Final Rounds are made up of 16 drivers. Drivers are paired in an elimination tournament. 4.2 For seeding purpose, the top 8 from 1 st Qualify Round will be 1 st to 8 th place, and top 8 from 2 nd Qualify Round will be 9 th to 16 th place. 4.3 Match up of the tournament will be based on the following list: 5/7

6 1 st vs 16 th 2 nd vs 15 th 3 rd vs 14 th 4 th vs 13 th 5 th vs 12 th 6 th vs 11 th 7 th vs 10 th 8 th vs 9 th 4.4 The final 4 drivers will compete in a round-robin format to determine the overall 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place winner. Drivers with the same number of wins will rematch to determine their final position. 4.5 Each match up consists of 2 judging runs (no practice run). 4.6 The driver with higher qualify ranking will be the lead car for the first run and the driver with lower qualify ranking will be the lead car for the second run. 4.7 The judges will give one of the following scores for each run: 3:7 4:6 4.5:5.5 5:5 4.8 If the scores are the same after 2 runs, the match will continue for another round of 2 runs until a winner is determined. 5. Best Car Body Award 5.1 Each driver will cast a vote to elect the best looking car body from all entries. 5.2 Eligible car body must conform to Technical Rules and take part in Qualify. 5.3 The same car body which received an award previously is not eligible to win a second time. 5.4 In case of same number of votes, each of the 3 Judges will cast a vote to determine the winner. 6. Behavior During Event 6.1 Unsporting behaviors are not allowed and subject to disqualification. 6.2 Drivers and their cars must be on time and ready to start the race at the 6/7

7 beginning of each run. 6.3 All participating cars must conform to the Technical Rules. 6.4 All participants must follow D-Style Arena general rules while using the facility. 6.5 In case of driver protest for race results, driver must submit complaint within 30 minutes of result announcement. There is a fee of HK$500 for each protest. If the protest is accepted, the protest fee will be returned to the driver.
