Please see the latest issue at datasheet Material Properties Application Surfaces Approvals AFM 37 is an asbestos- free gasket material. It is composed of aramide fibers and other asbestos substitutes that are resistant to high temperatures. These substitutes are processed with high- grade elastomers under elevated pressure and temperature. AFM 37 is an ecomomical gasket material. It exhibits good sealability in contact with gases and fluids, combined with good conformability. The material's thermal resistance is very good. for sealed joints that are subjected to moderate operating pressures, e.g. in transformers, compressors, pipelines, apparatus and IC engines. for sealing transmission, hydraulic, refrigerating, and engine oils for sealing fuels, mixtures of water, antifreeze & corrosion inhibitors for sealing Freons, alkaline solutions and solvents As standard, both sides of AFM 37 are coated with a non- stick, highfriction layer that greatly facilitates disassembly. If you have any doubt, please contact us and specify the exact operating conditions. 1) It is possible that far higher pressures are permitted for flanges with projections and recesses or grooves and tongues. Please consult us in individual cases, specifying the exact sealing conditions. 2) Use at temperatures below -50 C is possible, if surface pressure is not less than approx. 15 N/mm² in liquids or 30 N/mm² in gases (internal pressure must be taken into account). In addition, the gasket must not be subjected to bending or flexing stresses. AFM 37 is not resistant to nitric acid above 20 %. In this case, we recommend using gaskets made of REINZOFLON E (PTFE); please refer to Technical Data Sheet TDS 480.
