DIESEL EMULSION Output Inputs WATER [10-20%] DIESEL [from Catalitic Molecular Restructuring oil, or commercial diesel] ADDITIVE [1-2 %] WHITE DIESEL EMULSION Can be used for road transport [max. 15% water], for boilers [up to 20% water] or marine fuel [15%-20% water]
Our Technologies Although it generally provides for more efficient combustion, compared to gasoline, standard diesel fuel emits certain types of harmful emissions during combustion (Nitrous oxides, etc..) These harmful emissions are a result of incomplete combustion, high combustion temperatures and the presence of certain chemical compounds in diesel fuel itself. A Water in Diesel emulsion is one of the most effective ways of both improving diesel fuel combustion and decreasing the output of harmful emissions. While water in diesel emulsions have been around for at least 30 years, the technology has not been widespread, despite favorable legislation regimes in certain countries, because of issues related to the long-term stability of the emulsion and the ability of the emulsion to work seamlessly with all types of diesel engines. EME s patented water in diesel emulsion technology uses a number of proprietary systems to solve each of these problems. These systems include a unique patented gemini surfactant, the capability to create nano sized water droplets and a process to create very long-term stable emulsions across all atmospheric and operating conditions. GENERAL Improved by centrifugation and cavitation process First commercial stable water-diesel emulsion Batch process. EMISSIONS NOx 30% reduction Particles 90% reduction
HFO EMULSION Output Inputs WATER [ 10-20% ] HFO MAZUT BUNKER C RESIDUAL FUEL ADDITIVE [ 0.5-1% ] POWER PLANT MARINE FUEL
Our Technologies Although it is almost universally used by the freight shipping industry, HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil) is considered, by environmental standards, to be among the most polluting types of fuel that can be used. This pollution generally comes in the form of nitrous oxide and sulfur emissions. However, the fuel s low cost and reliable performance, however mean that for the near future, HFO will be the fuel of choice for the freight shipping industry. HFO in Water emulsion is one of the most effective ways of both improving fuel combustion and decreasing the output of harmful emissions. While water in HFO emulsion has been possible to use for over 25 years, the technology has not been widespread, despite favorable legislation regimes in certain countries, because of issues related to the longterm stability of the emulsion and the ability of the emulsion to work seamlessly with all types of ship engines. EME s patented water in HFO emulsion technology uses a number of proprietary systems to solve each of these problems. These systems include a unique patented gemini surfactant, the capability to create nano sized water droplets and a process to create very long-term stable emulsions across all atmospheric and operating conditions. In addition, the HFO combustion process is quiet different, with respect to diesel, since it is much easier to modulate and control combustion processes as they are happening in on-board HFO engines. Of all the types of engines where emulsions can be used, industrial marine engines provide some of the best conditions for controlling combustion parameters during combustion and, therefore, optimizing on a continuous and variable basis, the usage of emulsion in HFO. GENERAL Improved by centrifugation and cavitation process. First commercial stable HFO Mazut Bunker C Residual Fuel Emulsion. Continuous process. EMISSIONS Nox 30% reduction Particles 90% reduction
MARINE FUEL EMULSION
Our Technologies High combustion temperature and pressure present inside most modern marine engines and the absence of standardized exhaust gas after-treatment, result in a disproportionately high contribution of nitrous oxide emissions from the marine industry. The addition of water to marine fuel, in the form of a thermally and kinetically stable nanoemulsion, is an effective way to reduce combustion temperature and suppress formation of nitrous oxides. One of the main issues in marine fuel emulsions is the long term stability of emulsions under conditions of kinetic and thermal variance, such as are presented in marine operating environments. EME s marine fuel emulsion provides clients with one of the longest lasting and most durable emulsions in the market. EME Marine Fuel Micro-emulsion has also been developed to help bring ships into compliance with NOx abatement technology to meet the Tier III NOx emission standard according to Regulation 13 of the revised MARPOL Annex VI and related documents MEPC 70/X/X, MEPC 57/INF.14, MEPC 66/6/6, MEPC 66/ INF.4, the U.S. Clean Air Act, the EU Emissions Standards and the Asian Standards. Our micro-emulsion helps ships: reduce soot and carbon black emissions related to slow steaming, enhance performance of turbochargers, lower port fees related to emissions, reduce scrubber and post- combustion device loading.
CATALITIC MOLECULAR RESTRUCTURING Inputs MIXED ORGANIC PLASTIC, TIRES High efficiency [ 80-90% ] DOMESTIC ORGANIC WASTE High efficiency [ 60-70% ] Output CATALITIC MOLECULAR RESTRUCTURING OIL Very low sulphur content Can be converted to commercial eco diesel Using Nano-refinery to produce; fuel kerosene
Our Technologies Biomass can be converted to bio-fuel via different thermal biological and physical processes. Among the biomass to energy conversion processes, catalitic molecular restructuring has attracted more interest in producing liquid fuel product because of its advantages in storage, transport and versatility in application such as combustion engines, boilers, turbines, etc. In addition, solid biomass and waste can be difficult and costly to manage which also gives impetus to commercialization of catalitic molecular restructuring technology. Catalitic molecular restructuring, in simple terms, is burning in the absence of oxygen. Catalitic molecular restructuring, plasma arc incineration and plasma catalitic molecular restructuring are currently used by various municipalities around the world. At the same time, however, the amount and diversity of daily generated municipal solid waste means that there persists a high hidden cost of waste sorting. The majority of general catalitic molecular restructuring and Catalitic Molecular Restructuring platforms are type specific. They can only accept a singular type of organic origin waste for processing. This means that, to be used, these reactors incur expensive waste separation costs. EME s proprietary technology within Catalitic Molecular Restructuring can be broadly understood as a smart plasma pyrolytic reactor. This is a reactor that uses an atomic level feedback system (mass spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, etc..) to monitor the formation and existence of specific ions in the reactor chamber in real-time. Through a proprietary feedback algorithm the system has virtually eliminated the input variability problem, as long as input feedstock is of organic origin. The market implications are simple: this smart reactor design allows for real-time local control of ion formation and, as a result, can provide a consistent output of market ready fuels. By introducing a dynamic control system into the plasma catalitic molecular restructuring process, EME s patent eliminates much of the cost of traditional municipal solid waste sorting and separation. In addition, this dynamic control system turns the waste-to-energy business to a cloud software business, thereby creating a market distribution model that allows for two things: an unusual degree of control of lease terms and the ability to create a multi-tiered technology distribution market. GENERAL Plasma process Self sufficient / Syngas Batch process / 2hrs
NANO REFINERY Inputs CRUDE OIL [ Natural crude, Catalitic Molecular Restructuring Oil or Bio-crude ] Output ANY KIND OF COMMERCIAL DIESEL, GASOLINE, JET FUEL OR KEROSENE
Our Technologies Traditional 2nd Generation Electro-fuel processing requires a large refinery infrastructure, similar to that of crude oil. Crude oil refineries work very well, but do so at a high cost of space and hydrogen. In addition, traditional cracking methods are nowhere near their true energy efficiency limit. EME s Patented Nano Refinery is a turn-key stand alone system that uses nano-technology based catalytics in conjunction with a magnetic-induction heating system to effectively and dynamically control the process of refining 2nd Generation Electro-fuel into drop-in combustion fuels, principally diesel, gasoline and kerosene. This system has a number of advantages over traditional refineries. It is mobile (the platform can be transported via shipping container) and can be easily adapted to switch between outputs based on market demand. It also uses less hydrogen than traditional reforming processes. In the case of 2nd Generation Electro-fuel refining, this is particularly important. 2nd Generation Electro-fuel has a fairly large fraction of oxygen and a fairly small fraction of hydrogen, in comparison to crude oil. There are a number of hydrogen processes (hydrooxygenation, hydrogenation, etc..) that are used in 2nd Generation Electro-fuel refinement. These processes are primarily used to remove oxygen and to add hydrogen to the carbon fraction of the 2nd Generation Electro-fuel EME s Patented Nano Refinery virtually eliminates the need for addition of hydrogen gas as part of the refining process. This is achievable through two key aspects of the technology: novel nano-catalysts in the distillation column that remove excess oxygen and highly tunable magnetic induction heating that allows for rapid molecular reformation and removal of combustion fuel products. Both of these advances together allow 2nd Generation Electro-fuel manufacturers to go straight to the consumer fuel market with a much lower risk and much higher demand adaptability. In addition, manufacturers have lower hydrogen acquisition costs and lower energy costs on a per liter of fuel production basis. GENERAL Patented process. Magnetic induction Continues process.
SOLVOLYSIS AGRICULTURAL WASTE Inputs Output BIO-MASS/HEATING OIL II Generation CAN BE MIXED WITH WATER UP TO 20% SOLVOLYSIS + HYDROGENATION BIO CRUDE OIL-LOW SULPHUR To be used as input in the NANO-REFINERY To make all types of fuels
Our Technologies The traditional biomass to fuel market suffers from two problems: primary source biomass (such as from crop cultivation) requires the usage of fertilizers that reduce the effective EROI (energy return on investment) to a point that almost negates the utility of biomass fuel sourcing and the fuels derived from such biomass sources require complex processing to yield a singular, inflexible, market ready fuel such as ethanol. Massive subsidies in both the EU and the US for such fuels, a reliance on petroleumderived fertilizers and a net energy production capability of photosynthesis [in the form of % of solar wattage capture per square meter] that falls substantially short of photovoltaics and other direct solar energy technologies demonstrate that the primary source biomass market falls short of the energy density of other existing renewable and non-renewable sources. EME s approach to the biomass to fuel cycle is different. Our approach is rooted in biomimicry: only using secondary source organic origin waste (organic molecules that have already served a primary market purpose and that stand as waste products prior to processing) that is processed mixed (just as in nature) and that is converted into a biosynthetic crude (just as in nature) that can be refined in a traditional refinery into the entire spectrum of traditional drop-in fuels as an ultra low sulphur market equivalent. EME does not rely on complex biological fermentation or degradation processes, or on the usage of complex and rare additives. Our process mimics nature from start to finish, just a little bit faster. And our solvolysis method yields a highly flexible fuel base that can be either directly used as is or that can be refined using standard refinery systems GENERAL Patented technology for the control of the chemical reaction. Accellerator-reagent. Induction heating.
COMPLEX DISTILLATION WASTE NANO-UPGRADING
Our Technologies EME has developed a complex nano-upgrading approach to distillation waste that permits for mixed distillation waste to be upgraded to fuel products without prior separation. One of the most common problems, from an energy efficiency perspective, that refineries encounter in crude oil distillation, is a complex array of mixed waste chemicals. Ranging from asphaltenes to char to petcoke to a host of other types of refinery byproducts, the most common solution for disposal is to sell these products in the non-energy market. While there are limited applications, such as tar production for industrial/infrastructure usage, a significant part of these byproducts are such poor fuel quality potential that, given the low energy prices in the current market, they are considered waste. EME s complex nano-upgrading approach uses a systematic approach to waste upgrading that relies on a combination of new nano-catalysts and new types of solvent processing systems to allow for a secondary stage upgrading of traditional waste products into the commercial fuel market. These nano-catalysts rely on the physical and chemical properties of nano-particles and nano-composites (such as much higher surface area to weight ratios) to allow for the reformation of commercial grade fuels, even with very low viscosity and very high carbon content waste products. In addition, our complex distillation waste nano-upgrading takes advantage of recent advances in dynamic molecular analysis of real-time waste flow to adjust solvent and nanocatayltic types and fractions to create a nearly seamless waste-to-fuel transition stream.
