3 Choosing a Peristaltic Pump Why to choose a Seko OEM Peristaltic Pump: Seko is a leader in peristaltic pump manufacturing due to long experience in the business, since Peristaltic Pumps are ideal because of their natural pumping action; No contact between the pump and the dosed media, hence for example they are perfect for food & beverage applications; Best solution for shear sensitive, abrasive and aggressive fluids; Always self priming, peristaltic pumps allow dry running without consequences; Maximum dosing accuracy; Totally reversible (if driven by an appropriate circuit), need only to change the rotation direction; Easy maintenance, need only tube replacement time by time Cheaper than other kinds of pumps. Seko can offer a wide range of pumps for all the applications and wide possibilities of customization. For each pump, the flow rate can be radically changed EVEN ONLY by changing the tube dimension How to choose quickly a OEM Peristaltic Pump: STEP 0: Select the family of pumps you are interested in. STEP 1: Verify your needs in terms of Power Supply (24 VDC, 240 Vac or whatever else) STEP 2: Choose the desired flow rate for your application STEP 3: Based on the fluid you need to dose in your application, verify the chemical compatibility among the wide range of tubes that Seko offers; the tube must be able to withstand the chemical attack of the pumped liquid in order to attend the expected lifetime STEP 4: Verify if there are particular Backpressure needs in your application (consider that with high backpressures the flow rate could consistently reduce) STEP 5: Select the pump that fits your requirements between the models with various functions (i.e. fixed flow rate, adjustable flow rate, timed dosing) STEP 6: Verify if the selected pump (and its motor) has limitations in terms of Duty Cycle that could not be suitable to your application (even if most pumps are suitable for continuous running) NOTE: Please consider that many other parameters could influence the choice of a peristaltic pump, such as presence of particles/solids in the fluid (that should not exceed 15% of tube internal cross section area), liquid operating Temperature, Ambient Temperature. 4 Choosing a Peristaltic Pump Seko range of Tubes Seko OEM pumps can be equipped with tubes of various materials and dimensions Tubing Materials: Santoprene: it s a colorable thermoplastic general purpose elastomer with good fluid resistance, mainly used in detergents dispensing due to its good resistance to bases. Sekobrill: Peroxide cured silicone tubing, designed for use in applications where flexibility, resiliency and durability are required) mainly used in rinse aid dispensing; suitable for Alkaline Chemicals Sekoflex: EPDM based tubing used for high flow rates; it has a high flexibility that assure the constant dosing also after hours of operation SekoExtra: co-extruded product specifically formulated to provide an ideal combination of chemical resistance and pump life SekoMed: hard blend, formulated to withstand the pressure of peristaltic pump while providing the biocompatible fluid surface required in sensitive applications SekoForT: Specifically designed to handle most fuels and industrial lubricants, SekoForT resists the swelling and hardening caused by hydrocarbon-based fluids SekoLast: tube with high durability and flexibility, with excellent chemical resistance to a wide range of fluids, including acids and bases SekoELFL: DEHP free Tubing for Laboratory, Food & Beverage, and Biopharmaceutical Applications Norprene: High performance alternative to General Purpose Rubber, available in Food Grade Formulation A-60-F; Tubing Dimensions: The Flow rate and the max backpressure the pump can guarantee depend on tube dimension. For relatively high back pressures (over 2 bar) the internal diameter of the tube should not exceed 3,2 mm In OEM pumps, Seko provides the following dimensions for the tubes. 5 Seko Selection Guide FAMILY Seko offers 4 main families of OEM Peristaltic Pumps: M Family (Mini Pumps) is the smallest one in Seko range, thought for low flow rates applications and good accuracy with a contained cost; S Family (Standard OEM Pumps) contains the bigger number of models, good for all the applications, with the standard materials Seko has tested during decades of experience in Peristaltic Pumps Manufacturing; H Family (High Range Pumps) is made by the pumps having longer lifetime of the motors, plastic materials complying special certifications (UL/ETL), where special peristaltic tubes with higher performances can be mounted, assuring resistance also to aggressive chemicals; X Family (Extra High Range Pumps) is the top of the range among our families, comprehending pumps with special motors, such as stepper motors to fully adjust the pump speed, the best materials for enclosures and tubes. 9 M Family The M is a Low Flow Rate peristaltic pump family with a very compact design for applications where small and accurate dosage is needed.
