2 High Accuracy Bunker Control Bunker Control Installation On Board Operator display Bunker Control system. Coriolis Meter The Insatech Marine Bunker Control solution can be used on both delivering and receiving vessels. No matter if oil is bought or sold, total knowledge of the transferred amount and full bunker documentation is needed. The Insatech Marine Bunker Control solution is a one (HFO) or two (HFO+MGO) flow meter installation. The bunker control gives full overview of the bunker process. The Coriolis principle mass flow meters ensure correct mass measurements, temperature and density. The Bunker control installation can be supplied according to MID Annex MI-005 as an option (Custody transfer). The MID approval guarantees that measured values are correct and is a strong asset in any claim situation. The Bunker Control solution has a built in anti-pilferage function. 3 High Accuracy Bunker Blending Blender unit in a container Operator displays When delivering bunkers, it is important both to deliver the correct quality as well as a well defined quantity. Bunker fuel is priced per tons and many factors can influence the readings of traditional volumetric flow meters, such as density, temperature, viscosity etc. The density of heavy fuels can vary up 150 kg/m 3. Deliver the correct quantity: The Insatech Marine Bunker Blending solution uses flow meters based on the Coriolis principle which give a direct measurement of mass and density. Deliver the correct quality: The Insatech Marine Bunker Blending solution ensures delivery of any viscosity using the minimum but correct amount of gas oil. Always meeting the ISO 8217 requirements. Documentation: Both quantity and quality of the delivered product is documented in an automatic bunker report. Certification: The system can be supplied according to MID Annex MI-005 and OIML R117-1 certified (Custody transfer). Features Direct measurement in metric tons (vacuum) Direct actual density measurement Direct temperature measurement Online calculation of Density 15 (actual and average) Online calculation of Viscosity 50 Average temperature calculation Air in oil detection and alarming Totaliser per delivery Total counter, not resettable Full data log of every parameter available in the system Full Bunker Delivery Receipt The Bunker Control solution has a built in anti-pilferage function. Entrained air will be detected immediately, and an alarm will be given. This ensures that surprises due to the cappuccino effect are eliminated. Further the reverse flow totalizer guarantees that only net flow is measured. Optional features Data integration via internet MID certification Sulphur measurement Water in oil measurement Automatic sampler control Sulphur blending To comply with Marpol annex VI, new rules on limitation of sulphur content in HFO apply. These requirements can be met by blending to a pre-defined sulphur content optimising the use of the more expensive components. The requirement is to be able to blend oil in different qualities based on sulphur values. Blending ratio from 0,1 to 3,5% sulphur In-line measurement Blending while delivering Full documentation of delivered quality + quantity MID Approval (Custody transfer) The Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) is a European directive (2004/22/EC) that covers a number of different measuring instrument types. The MID enables a European type approval certificate to be issued. MID includes codes of practice as to approval procedures, market control as well as type and marking of the instruments. With the constantly rising fuel prices there is an increasing demand for accurate measurement of the delivered quantity when bunkering. With MID approval you get: Certified accurate measurement No more discussions of delivered quantity Possibility of manipulating measurement results drastically reduced Data log: The data log contains all real time data collected during the complete bunker operation. Fuel oil and gas oil flow. Fuel oil and gas oil density. Fuel oil and gas oil temperatures. Flow ratio fuel oil/gas oil. Volume of delivered product. Viscosity of delivered product. Density of delivered product. Temperature of delivered product. Bunker BDR: The Bunker Delivery Report is automatically generated after bunker completion and contains all necessary information to document the delivery. 4 Performance Management Fuel consumption in real time. Fuel consumption vs. speed. Operator panel. Speed test - graphic. Mileage per ton fuel vs reference. EEOI an IMO requirement CO 2 emissions. The Insatech approach to developing an efficient Performance Management A practical approach that is proven in use Performance Management Planning Establishing a good and repeatable baseline is the key for implementation of Performance Management Define the requirements for data acquisition, ensuring the system is expandable to handle all future requirements Define how data will be transferred from the vessel, data safety requirements, storage and use at HQ Minimize crew involvement i.e. automate data acquisition and transfer Start with the low hanging fruit, i.e. the largest energy consumers on board. Defining a good baseline One approach is to use design documents or sea trial data if these have the necessary values Main energy consumers are: main engine(s), electrical production and boilers Define an operational profile including Routing (plan and weather), Trim, cargo operations, autopilot use etc. The optimal solution for measuring fuel flow Use a Coriolis massflowmeter that can handle the vibrations and flow pulsations (not all designs can) Pipe stress is a challenge for some types Uncertainty of a Rotamass system is: 0,1% of actual value Density output can be monitored for alarming of cappuccino effect in fuels. Data Acquisition Use industrial grade systems that can handle the tough environment found on board Challenges: Vibration, quality of power supply, ambient atmosphere, expandability Data collection speeds vary greatly, e.g. wave monitoring needs higher speed than COG Interconnectivity to other systems, e.g. navigation systems (NMEA) Access to reports/kpi s on board is a must Data compression and encryption to save costs. Advantages of the Insatech Performance Management Data Acquisition system Minimises necessary data volumes without losing crucial details. Event based detailing Open Industrial system for ease of integration to existing systems Built in Report functions Encrypted data Read only format Modular and expandable Manual inputs and local operator interfaces. Key Performance Indicators - KPI s We recomend the use of KPI s as the base for easy comparison of performance Use KPI s to influence on board behaviour as well as for monitoring performance degradation Easy access to KPI s with a strong graphic presentation, and warning/ alarms can ensure due diligence on board. KPI main groups Main engine performance (g/bkwh) Aux. engine performance (g/bkwh) Vessel performance: - Thrust/displacement (if available) - Fuel consumption (kg/nm/ton) - Electrical power consumption per area - Vessel Trim especially in Ballast mode. Overview of all relevant KPI s providing decision support Buffer time, idle time Speed / RPM divation Propeller & Hull maintenance Weather effect Lube oil consumption Fuel statistics / Bunker Fuel alerts Anti-fouling evaluation Speed / consumption prediction, speed optimization Engine efficiency, engine utilization and optimizing Energy profiles Voyage optimization Operational profiles Warnings and triggers Environmental statistics & EEOI. Speed Tests We suggest the use of predefined speed tests where the following factors are included: - Displacement (wetted surface area and wind exposure) - Wind speed, True and Relative (wind resistance) - Rudder activity - Defined minimum run times to ensure repeatability. Continous improvement is necessary Define/understand -> Measure -> Action/Change -> Evaluate -> New Target On board tools using real time consumption and performance figures against targets Drill down functionality for main units or consumers. Power generation vs actual use and safety factors EEOI (Energy Efficiency Operational Indicator) tons CO 2 / transport work see IMO guideline EPI Costs Bunker composition Fuel costs and quality Selected fuel.

5 S 3 Smart Sulphur Switch Real time logging of vessel position and sulphur content in the fuel. Accurate mass flow measurements gives you accurate fuel consumption figures. Do You Operate Vessels in Emission Control Areas? In order to meet the requirements of MARPOL Annex VI Insatech has developed the S 3 Smart Sulphur Switch (S 3 ) solution. These are the regulations for emissions of sulphur stipulated in MARPOL Annex VI 1 for marine transportation in and outside ECAs (Emission Control Areas) in North America, the Caribbean, Baltic and North Seas: Outside an ECA 3.50% m/m on and after 1 January % m/m after 1 January 2020 Inside an ECA 1.00% m/m on and after 1 July ,10% m/m on and after 1 January The MARPOL Annex VI only stipulates requirements concerning SOx and particulate emissions. However, monitoring Sulphur in the fuel line of the vessel also ensures that the requirements stipulated in MARPOL Annex VI are met. Compared to other solutions S 3 TM provides great savings for your company By reducing consumption of the more expensive low Sulphur MGO, eliminating the use of chemicals and minimizing investments, as well as downtime during installation the S 3 will provide great savings. In comparison to other solutions e.g. installing a Gas Scrubber the S 3 has far lower investment and running costs. Furthermore, by installing the S 3 you also ensure that the requirements stipulated in MARPOL Annex VI are met. Emission Control Areas Savings As an example: on a ship with a consumption of 24 ton/day, the daily cost of running solely on MGO is close to $ Using the S 3 Smart Sulphur Switch a HFO (3,5% Sulphur) is mixed with MGO (0,1% Sulphur) and thereby reducing the amount of expensive MGO used with more than 6 tons/day Calculations are based on a cost of 600 $/ton for HFO and 900 $ for MGO. S 3 Smart Sulphur Fuel Switch Only two types of fuel necessary on board one low sulphur and one high sulphur irrespective of the vessels destination High flexibility when mixing fuels Burn the cheapest fuel possible Easy retrofit. Low investment cost and running costs ROI in only 6-12 months. Challenges on existing vessels If there is only two oil tanks on the ship it can be challenging to store oil with diffent sulphur content. It can also be difficult to acquire HFO with sufficiently low sulphur content that complies with the applicable requirements of the ECA, the vessel is heading to. In fact you need 3-4 tanks for an optimal solution. Furthermore, it requires the possibility to rapidly switch between different fuels in order to always use the lowest permissible blend when the ship sails from the open sea to coastal areas to ports. Vessels choosing to install a Gas Scrubber solution faces some or all following challenges. First of all the Gas Scrubber is costly - the price for a S 3 is less than 5% of the price of a complete Gas Scrubber solution. Adding to this, the Gas Scrubber is bulky, often requires installation of a complex piping system, and the ship is out of service for an extended period during installation. Features: Onboard blending of fuel to the required sulphur content. Blending of 2 fuels from 0 to 3,5% sulphur. Switch of fuel just on the ECA borders saving expensive fuel. Regardless of what fuel is in the tank, it can always be mixed and adjusted to the desired sulphur content. The price for a S 3 Smart Sulphur Switch is less than 5% of the price of a complete scrubber solution. Operating expenses are less than 0.1% of the operating costs of a scrubber. Cost of maintenance is limited to one annual calibration. Small footprint, low weight and minimum piping. The ship is only out of service for a short period of time (2-3 hours) for installation. Savings in fuel costs alone give a ROI of 6-12 months. Monitoring the sulphur content of the fuel line within limits stipulated in MARPOL Annex VI. Recording and reporting nett fuel consumption, sulphur content, density, and the vessels position (optional). No problems with disposal of chemicals. Stored data is encrypted and password protected. Integration with the vessels SEEMP system.

The unit is designed to be particularly suitable for ship applications, such as Integrated Bridge Systems (IBS). Get data from navigation equipment: GPS GYRO TORQUE WIND SPEED LOG DEPTH Etc. The unit fulfils the IEC 60945:2002 EMC standard and respective environmental standards. Properties The NMEA2MODB consists of a general purpose I/O part, communication parts, and an ethernet interface. The unit has a built-in power supply unit with VDC input range. Two separate power supply sources, with automatic change-over are provided. The power source and monitoring is included in the onboard software. The I/O part contains 32 digital inputs and 32 digital outputs, 4 analog inputs and 4 analog outputs. The unit contains a reference-voltage source to supply external potentiometers or sensors. The communication part contains six UART-type serial interface channels with galvanic isolated RS422/RS485 or RS422 drivers. One channel also has an alternative RS232 driver available. There is also one galvanic isolated CAN-Bus channel. The ethernet part integrates a 5- port 10/100 ethernet switch. The NMEA2MODB units can be connected in a chain, without the need of an external ethernet switch (the onboard switch functions as a normal ethernet switch). The setting-up and parameterisation of the NMEA2MODB module is performed through the WEB-server, using a normal HTML-browser. General purpose I/O (remote I/O Server) Control of the TM-EFDC digital and analogue I/O- parts are available through MODBUS/TCP protocol. The onboard basic software application contains a MODBUS/TCP server and the user can read the digital and analogue input registers and write corresponding output registers through this MODBUS/TCP server function. The digital outputs can be selected to operate as % PWM output for example the dimming of the panel pilot lights. The software is compliant with the IEC standard. Communication part (Serial Device server) The TM-EFDC communication part operates as a serial data communication device server. With this server function, the traffic through the UART (RS422 and RS232) and CAN- ports can be transferred either by UDP or TCP- protocols into the Ethernet- network (LAN). The UART and CAN- controlled transport parameters and the UDP and TCP server properties are set by the HTML browser. The TM-EFDC unit has two RS422/485 and four RS422 galvanic isolated serial channels. There is also alternatively RS232 line driver available for one serial channel. All RS422/RS485 and RS422 Serial channels fully conform to IEC standard and also compatible with IEC standard devices. NMEA 0183 Configuration INTRODUCTION NMEA2MODB listens to user defined NMEA0183 messages and writes the data into Modbus registers. Messages are specified in a text file named nmea2mbus.txt, which is located in the sd-card of the EFDC. The text file can be edited with an ordinary text editor, for example Notepad. Each line in configuration file contain a single NMEA0183 sentence that the application should listen to. Sentence specification can be seen as a two-level definition, where the first level specifies the message format and second level the mapping of the data fields to modbus registers.
