18 Planning Your Space Installation Guidelines Many bathrooms suffer from a lack of adequate storage space for the day to day items so it is important to bear this in mind when planning your room with regard to bathroom furniture. With careful planning, even the smallest bathroom can be transformed providing stylish and functional storage space. All out cabinets are supplied rigid and are designed for ease of installation. Our basins are designed to be used with our own range of cabinet furniture and are not recommended for use with other installations. We recommend that extractor fans are fitted to a window or outside wall to reduce condensation. This will considerably reduce the risk of damage that can be caused to furniture by prolonged exposure to moisture which bathrooms are prone to. If any electrical fittings are to be installed ensure that all installation of any electrical fittings such as lights and shaving sockets are carried out by professionals and conform with local building regulations. If you are in any doubt contact your local council Building Control office. When installing your bathroom furniture consideration should be made as to the fitting of your units to ensure the finished installation matches your expectations by following the simple guidelines detailed below. 1 Always check for electrical wires, water pipes or other services hidden behind or within walls before drilling. 2 We recommend that a filler is placed between the wall and the first unit in a run to provide clearance for door/drawer opening and decorating. 3 Ensure all units are level and square prior to fixing in place by using the supplied legs or wall brackets to fully adjust. 4 Adjusting legs correctly will ensure a strong base support. 5 Continue fitting units together levelling, screwing and bolting as above. Layout Consideration When planning a layout it is important to consider the space around each item which is needed as Standing space. For example when drying after a bath or shower, washing at the basin or using the WC all these areas have to be taken into consideration to ensure that each space is adequate to create a comfortable environment without making the room difficult to use. Some overlapping of standing space is quite acceptable. 6 Ensure adequate fixings screws are used to fasten units to walls and each other. 7 When cutting worktops to size we recommend overhanging the units, typically 10mm each end. 8 Plinths can be scribed and trimmed to cover unevenness of floors and create a pleasant finish between floor and cabinet. Plinths are simply clipped to the cabinet legs and can be removed for easy access. 9 Thoroughly seal all cut edges using a waterproof sealant to avoid swelling through condensation or water spillage. 1000mm Drawings 1100mm 700mm 1 Start by drawing the floor plan of your bathroom on the first graph to scale using our suggested scale 1 square = 150mm. 700mm 2 Secondly mark the position of the waste outlets, plumbing and fixed items such as a door, window and radiator on this first graph plan. 700mm 3 Finally on the second graph plan, draw the furniture items that you wish to have in the room taking into account the standing space illustrated on page 32.
