3 TABLE OF CONTENTS A WORD FROM THE OWNER In 1985, Trico Belting & Supply emerged as a start-up company with strong conviction and vision for the future. By assembling a team of seasoned professionals in the warehouse and on the road, Trico set out to redefine the wholesale belt business by delivering superior products and uncompromising customer service. Over the past two decades, Trico has stuck to its vision and defined itself with inventive thinking, custom product offerings and attention to detail. As a result, we've educated and worked closely with customers around the world to improve systems and increase productivity. Today, Trico, while not the biggest, is considered by many to be the best belting resource in the industry. It's a position we've worked hard to attain and one we take very seriously. It's my belief that when you work with Trico, you're working with me personally. To that end, every job is handled with personal accountability. I hope you find this approach refreshing and reassuring. On behalf of everyone at Trico, I want you to know that we value your business and look forward to serving you for many decades to come. 4 COMPANY INFORMATION STATEMENT OF CUSTOMER COMMITMENT Quality Assurance All Trico products are manufactured, fabricated and shipped to strict specifications. They are guaranteed to be free from defects and within industry quality standards. On Time Delivery Our record speaks for itself. This is an area of our business that we have dedicated much time and many resources to develop. All of our customers have come to depend on and demand this service. Short Lead Time Response This requires inventory, fabrication capabilities, trained order entry and experienced belt technicians. We have a large and diverse inventory of conveyor, power transmission and specialty service belting. Our modern fabrication facility houses an experienced and well equipped staff of specialists. We are set up to react quickly to your quick ship orders as well as any emergency orders. Engineering, Application Analysis Our technical expertise is the most important value added service we offer our customers. We can provide valuable information for a new design consideration or for an existing application. The accuracy of this information is attributable to our experience, continued training programs, use of computer analysis and support from manufacturing. Partnership We realize this is the most overused term in business today. But for a specialty business like ours, partnership means strength. Working together makes us collectively stronger than if we worked independently. Unlike other national belting wholesalers we are selective in our approach to the market place. We choose our partners carefully and remain loyal to their success. It takes time to develop such trust in business relationships, but we have and it works. Direct Shipments When requested, we will ship your order directly to your customer. Our name will not appear on any of the paperwork. We will ship using your bill of lading and packing list. Pricing Agreements There are situations where you are asked by your customers to hold pricing levels for specific periods of time in exchange for an anticipated volume of purchases. We offer similar pricing agreements that allow you to effectively pursue this type of business. 4 Contact our experienced sales team for all of your belting requirements. CINCINNA TI, OH CHICAGO IL

12 TROUBLE SHOOTING BELT TRACKING V-guides can only solve minor run-off tendencies. Minor run-off tendencies have to be expected in installations with a narrow belt width, low speed, low tensioning force and where no external transverse forces act upon the belt. When these conditions are not present, v-guides are not the recommendation, as they tend to pop out of the groove. An exception is to utilize v-guides for belt tracking with short wide belts. Crowning one or several pulleys in a system is the most common way to track a belt. Crown specifications for radius crowns and trapezoidal crowns are listed below. Standard Radius Crown Heights h Pulley Face Width Wp Pulley Diameter D >60 in in in in in in in > The min. pulley face width W p = (belt width W b x 1.1) in. The max. belt width W b = (pulley face width Wp in) / 1.10 convert to metric units Trapezoidal Crown Specifications for Conveyor Pulleys W p W b W c h d D Pulley Diameter D Crown Height h in in 1 to to to to to to > convert to metric units Note: The cylindrical part of the pulley W c is half of the belt width W b. Also, it is recommended for the pulley width W p to be approximately 10 to 20% wider than the belt width W b for the pulley crown to function properly. For pulley widths less than 8 in., use a radius crown and refer to the flat belt pulley specifications above. 12 Contact our experienced sales team for all of your belting requirements. 15 FABRICATIONS - ENDLESS ENDLESS (NON-MECHANICAL) SPLICING SOLUTIONS: Endless splicing methods eliminate the need for hardware fasteners. Excellent for food processing and applications where products need to be handled with greater care. STEP SPLICE BELT For belts with multiple plies. Plies are separated and stepped to interlock with one another at the splice point. Performed by experts in our fabrication facility for quality assurance and appropriate curing time. SKIVED SPLICED A precision grinding technique is used to achieve uniform thickness at the splice point for a variety of applications. FINGER SPLICE For thermoplastic, urethane and PVC belts. A very durable splice that maintains a smooth, highly consistent belt surface right through the splice area. Multiple finger patterns are available to meet a variety of applications and system pulley sizes. ENDLESS-PREPARED We square and prepare the belt s ends in our fabrication facility for hot or cold cement bonding on the customer s site. Cement bonding kits with usage instructions are available. Bi-Directional MULTIPLE FINGER SPLICE Utilizes more fingers than the standard finger splice. Fingers are cut from multiple plies, staggered, then fused together by heat and pressure to create an even stronger, more flexible splicing solution. STITCHED REINFORCEMENT Certain applications put unusual wear on splices and edges. These areas can be strengthened with stitching. Bi-Directional Bi-Directional LONGITUDINAL SPLICING Very wide belts are created by longitudinally splicing two or more belts of lesser dimension. Plies are expertly stepped and bonded in our fabrication facility. The result is a uniformly smooth belt as wide as the application requires. Ultra-wide belts can be made endless prior to shipping...or have ends prepared for splicing in the field. V-guides and other profiles can be added as required. Stitched belt: (1) A belt made from plies of non-impregnated fabric sewed together to make a single-unit structure; (2) A conveyor belt in which the plies have been sewn. Tension, effective: In a belt drive, the difference between the two tensions in a belt as it approaches and leaves a driving or driven pulley. In a twopulley drive, it is the difference between tight and slack side tensions. Often referred to as horsepower pull. Tension, maximum: (1) The highest tension occurring in any portion of a belt drive. The tight side tension in a two-pulley drive; (2) In conveyors, the maximum tension may occur at a point other than the drive pulley. Top cover: The protective cover on the material-conveying surface of the belt. Ultimate elongation: Elongation at rupture. Warp: The yarns that run lengthwise in a woven fabric. Warp-yarn: (1) A longitudinal yarn in a woven fabric; (2) A corner yarn in a braid. Weft: The crosswise (filling) threads in a fabric. The threads or yarns running at a right angle to the warp. Yarn: A generic term for continuous strands of textile fibers or filaments in a form suitable for knitting, weaving, or otherwise intertwining to form a textile fabric. It may be comprised of (a) a number of fibers twisted together; (b) a number of filaments laid together without a twist (zero-twist yarn); (c) a number of filaments laid together with more or less twist, or (d) a single filament with or without twist (a monofilament). Skim or skim coat: A layer of compound laid on a fabric but not forced into the weave. Normally laid on a friction fabric. W W W. T R I C O B E L T. C O M 51
