2 FRONT BODY MIDDLE BODY Installation 1. Remove all of the left side body panels. (fig. 1) SIDE BODY Fig.1 MIDDLE BODY 2. Remove the middle and rear right side body panels. (fig. 2) SIDE BODY Fig.2 3. Remove the top body panel. (fig. 3) 4. Remove the seat and grab rail assembly. TOP BODY 5. Open the storage compartment and remove the service cover to access the fuse box. SEAT & GRAB RAIL ASSEMBLY Fig.3 6. Install the supplied 5 amp fuse into the empty fuse box receptacle labeled accessory/switched. (fig. 4) Fig.4

3 HARNESS PLUG ASSEMBLY 7. Locate the factory accessory wiring harness plug assembly. It is fastened to the frame above the front left shock absorber. (fig. 5) Fig.5 RETENTION CLIPS 8. Route the accessory harness rearward toward the engine compartment for better access. Extra length can be acquired by removing from it's retention clips the part of the harness leading to the horn. (fig. 6) Fig.6 9. Unwrap the taped area and carefully trim 1 1/2" inches of the outer jacket from the accessory lead portion of the harness. (fig. 7) Fig Install with pliers the provided splice connector onto the purple wire with a yellow tracer. (fig. 8) 11. Re-tape the harness using a good grade of electrical tape. Fig.8

4 12. Mount the JMCB-2003 power filter to the frame in the area behind the fuse box, using the double-back tape provided on the bottom of the power filter. (fig.9) 13. Connect the red (+) lead from the power filter to the previously installed splice connector. POWER SUPPLY FILTER Fig Connect the black (-) lead to the frame ground bolt located near the bottom of the steering shaft. (fig.10) GROUND ASSEMBLY Fig Install the JMCB head unit onto the left handlebar using the provided mounting bracket and hardware. (fig. 11) Fig Install the PTT switch assembly onto the left handlebar between the grip and the headlight switch assembly. (fig.12) 17. Route the harnesses from the CB and the PTT switch alongside the factory wiring harness down to the area near the power filter. 18. Connect the Aux audio input (I-Pod) cable to the CB harness and route the stereo plug to a suitable location for use. (possibly a bag or pouch mounted on the handlebars) Fig.12

5 19. Remove the left fuel tank shield. (fig.13) Fig Connect the headset harness to the CB, the power filter, and the PTT switch. Route the headset connection leads along the left upper frame tube, then alongside the center frame tube above the fuel tank and out through the opening in the left tank shield. (fig. 14) 21. Secure the harness with tie straps provided as you reinstall the fuel tank shield. 22. Hold the antenna mounting bracket against the license plate bracket in the desired final position. Mark the location of the holes to be drilled in the antenna bracket and also mark the line where the excess mounting bracket is to trimmed off. 23. Drill holes as marked and saw off the excess bracket. 24. Sandwich the antenna mounting bracket between the license plate and the license plate mounting bracket and secure with the license plate fasteners. 25. Route the CB antenna coaxial cable and the ground strap alongside the existing wiring and hoses on the right side of the swing-arm. Secure them to the plastic channel on the swing-arm by loosening the channel, inserting multiple tie straps underneath and around the channel Coupling Nut and cables, then re-tightening the plastic Lock Washer channel. 6 26. Fasten the antenna ground strap to the outer footrest bracket mounting bolt. (fig.16) 27. Route the antenna coaxial cable alongside the brake reservoir hoses, up, across and behind the air filter box to the left side of the box. Then route the antenna cable alongside the factory harness fastened to the air filter box and to the connector on the CB harness. Secure all cables using the tie straps provided. (figures 16&17) Fig.16 The antenna should now be tuned using an SWR meter by following the instructions below. If you are not familiar with how to properly use an SWR meter, you may wish to seek assistance from qualified personal, such as those from a truck-stop CB shop or similar facility. After tuning the CB antenna, re-assemble the motorcycle in the reverse order of disassembly. Antenna Tuning Instructions 1. Connect your SWR meter in-line as normal at the CB radio connection location. 2. To adjust the antenna SWR, pull the top cap off the antenna staff, make a very small slice in the side of the black cover material, right at the very top. 3. Then reach down in there with a needle nosed pliers and pull out about 2" of the wire at a time. 4. Clip it off and bend the end over the top of the antenna replacing the little cover each time you re-check the SWR readings. 5. The idea is to get channel's 1 and 40 to have the same SWR reading, somewhere between 1:1 and 2.5:1, as that way all of the other channels will have an SWR reading at or below that level. Fig If the SWR reading on channel 1 is lower than the reading on channel 40, you need to cut off more wire. 7. If the SWR reading on channel 40 is lower than channel 1, you have cut off too much wire, simple as that. 8. When you get the SWR's where you want them, squirt a little black silicone into the top cap, before you push it back on for the final time.
