83 YOUR MOTION SENSOR Two-Stage Motion Activation Several of our lights equipped with a motion sensor feature this special two-stage circuit and light activation STAGE 1 STAGE 2 A single high-brightness LED is triggered by the photo-electric cell at dusk, and remains on for the duration of the night. This provide a pleasant ambience as well as providing enough light to know where you re heading Not having the light on for the full duration of the night means you can save battery without the dangers of having no light at all! When the motion sensor detects movement, all remaining LEDs are activated, giving a bright, wide-area light for you to see exactly what you re doing. Once triggered, an electronic timer keeps the full complement of LEDs on for a set duration, even when you ve walked out of the motion sensors range so you won t be surprised by a sudden loss of light when you might need it most. The light will not automatically turn on at nightfall and is not sensitive to movement ON Press once to Switch Light on. Alarm will beep once. This will Default the Light into Sensor mode. A dull light will be emitted (approx. 100lm) when no movement is detected. Once the sensor is triggered the light output increases to 600 lumens for approximately 20 seconds OFF ON Press once to switch light off completely OR Press Twice to switch the Alarm feature on. Alarm will beep twice and take approximately 20 seconds to set. 89 INDICATOR LIGHTS EXPLAINED Self-test Diagnosis After switching on the power button the Red, Green and Blue indicator lights will blink simultaneously for 2 seconds whilst a power up test is performed. Battery is Charging When the light is connected to a and is receiving the correct voltage the Blue indicator light will flash slowly for approximately 1 minute. These are far cheaper to produce, however are infamous for the dreaded memory effect. This means if the lights are only partially discharged before recharging, this memory stops the battery from being able to fully recharge therefore reducing future battery capacity. As a direct result, these batteries take more than twice as long to charge and have a much lower energy capacity. 92 ENGINEERING AND DESIGN TECHNOLOGY Surface Mount Technology Very few lighting companies have dared to mount LEDs directly to the circuit board But we do! Why? Improves Mechanical Strength Improves Dispersion Strength Improves Thermal Transfer The LED chips are directly mounted to the circuit board, they re physically supported by the board strength meaning that as they heat up and cool down, they re not going to warp and crack. This means our products will comfortably give a life span of 20,000 to 100,000 hours! Traditional LEDs designs send most of their light straight ahead, so the dispersion angles are generally in the region of 45 o to 60 o.
