Hi All, As I learn more about TrainController, I try and revise how I control my Locomotives and Function cars. Below are three examples where I have revised the function icons for all locomotives.

1 Hi All, As I learn more about TrainController, I try and revise how I control my Locomotives and Function cars. Below are three examples where I have revised the function icons for all locomotives. The and locomotives have a basic engine sound with a whistle. I refined the whistle control for both and this allows me to have three different whistles for each locomotive. The Protocol must be set for Motorola 27 and the F3 function for the whistle must be permanent. If the protocol is set to Motorola 28 the whistle function is unreliable. By default when the whistle is turned on it will only sound three times and the function has to be switched off before it can be used again. 1

6 Whistle Sounds Macro With all locomotive functions defined and unique icons for each function I next created a whistle sound macro to be switched by action markers in blocks and also as Schedule specific Block/Route Settings The Loco Whistle macro shown left switches the Whistle Long and the Whistle x2 functions for a brief 200ms. Any locomotive with these function icons will operate. The condition of the macro operating is that the Loco Sounds Off/On toggle switch placed in the switchboard must be on. This toggle switch provides a global control to switch off all locomotive sounds when not required. I tend to only use locomotive sounds when I have visitors viewing the layout. Block Action Markers In the Block Editor I associate an action marker to an indicator. In the properties for the action marker under the General Tab I name the action Whistle Sound and identify the block it is in Low E Tunnel Exit and combine the two, this makes the name of the action marker unique and Dr Railroad is happy. In the Operations Tab insert the Loco Whistle macro Any locomotive that has the correct function icons will operate with schedules and with manual control as long as the toggle switch is on. 6
