1. The main screen The main screen is the screen that will come up when you turn on the charger and this is also the screen from where you will start to charge the batteries. The red box shows the input voltage to the charger The green box shows the chosen memory bank for mode 1, 2 or 3 (I do not know what the letter E stand for) The number in the blue box show what mode you are in (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 9). The letter A before the mode number indicates that the display shows the individual battery cell voltage for the connected battery and also the active charge or discharge current. If there is a C before the mode number then the display will shows the measured charged or discharged capacity (mah). You can alternate between A and C values on the display by pressing the Under or On buttons while in the main screen. The yellow box is a countdown timer that starts when you start a new charge or discharge. You can change the start value for this countdown timer and by that way you can limit the time you allow the charger to be active. The timer can be set between 00:00 and 24:00. If the timer is set to 00:00 then the countdown function is disabled. The loudspeaker in the orange box indicates that the buttons beeps are active. If the loudspeaker icon is disabled the audible alarm from the charger will still work. The purple box is an animated charge/discharge symbol. When the charger is charging the animated symbol goes from left to the right and when charger is discharging the animated symbol goes from the left to the right and then back to the left again. 2. Charge modes overview The UNRC chargers have four different charge/discharge modes indicated by number 0-3 on the display. Mode 0 is a simplified mode that can both charge and discharge Mode 1 is the normal charge mode Mode 2 is a special mode for the external sequence charger module (option) Mode 3 is a special two charger cascade mode Page 2 of 14

Apart from these four charge/discharge modes there are also two additional hidden modes (mode 4 and 9). These two modes appear to be used for calibration and maintenance. I don t know if these hidden modes should be called actual modes (like mode 0 to 3) but just to make things simpler in this description I will refer to them as modes anyhow. 3. Selecting modes From the main screen you can choose a different mode by pressing the Select button twice so that the mode number is flashing and then you can select a different mode by pressing either the Under or the On buttons until the desired mode number is displayed. Once you have selected the desired mode you can press the Select button once so that the timer is flashing and then press the Start/stop button in order to go back to the main screen. Observe that if you choose mode 2 and then connect a battery direct to the charging port then the display will flash the voltage values and the buzzer will sound (even if the loudspeaker icon is disabled) in order to warn you that you do not have the external sequence charger module connected to the charging port. If you choose mode 3 without having a cascade charger connected then the mode 3 number in the display will flash and the buzzer will sound (but only if the loudspeaker icon is enabled!) 4. Editing settings In order to modify the parameters under a specific mode you need to press the Select button until the mode number is flashing and then you need to press the Start/stop button in order to enter the settings menu under this specific mode. While in the settings menu you can jump between the different parameters by pressing the Select button. You can change the selected parameter by pressing the Under or the On buttons. Once you have gone through all the parameters you will come to screen without parameters and there the save data text on the display will flash. You can exit the settings screen any time by simply pressing the Start/stop button. Note that when you exit the setting menu you will see that the text save data is flashing on the top of the display. This is to remind you if you want to permanently save the current settings. If you want to permanently save the setting you need to press the On button so that the save data text is steady on the display. If you press the Under button the save data text disappears and the changes will not be permanently saved. Any changes will still be active but if you do not save the settings the charger will go back to the old settings the next time you power on the charger. Page 3 of 14

5. Choose default charge mode If you want the charger to always start in a specific mode you will need to select that mode and then press the Select button three times until the save data text appears on the top of the screen. If you save this setting then the charger will start up in this mode the next time the charger is powered on. 6. Edit memory banks These chargers have ten different memory banks where you can store voltage and current values. These ten memory banks are available to mode 1, 2 and 3. In order to charge the values in these memory banks you will need to press the Select button once so that the memory bank number is flashing on the main screen. Once the memory bank number is flashing you will need to press the Start/stop button to enter the memory editing screen. Once you are in the memory bank editing screen you simply choose your memory bank (1 to 10) by pressing the Under or the On buttons. When you have chosen the memory bank you want to edit, press the Select button to edit the voltage value, and then press Select again to edit the current value, then press Select again to exit and save the new values. Page 4 of 14

7. Charge mode description 7.1. Mode 0 This mode has five different memory banks for voltage and current (PH0 to PH4). Observe that mode 0 uses different memory banks than mode 1, 2 and 3. When you start a charge in mode 0 the charger will either charge or discharge your individual battery cells depending on if your battery cell voltage is above or below the set value in the chosen memory bank. The charger can actually both charge and discharge at the same time if some cells are above the set value and some cells are below the set value. Note that in mode 0 you can only set voltage values in steps of 50mV. Also note that the current is limited to max 2.5A To edit any of the five PH memory banks you will need to go into the settings screen for mode 0. In mode 0 you also have a parameter called Eb: I do not know what Eb stands for but the translation describes this as post option. It also seems that this value should be set to 0 for no post - and this is also the default value Mode 1 This is the normal charging mode. Note that mode 1 will only charge your batteries. If you try to start a charge when the target voltage is below the actual voltage the charger will not start. Mode 1 will not discharge the batteries as mode 0 does. This is probably the mode that most people will use. In mode 1 you have four parameters: H: Is the high alarm value for the supply voltage input Page 5 of 14

L: Is the low alarm value for the supply voltage input B: Is the brightness for the screen light Fb: Is the time before the screen dims to the lower screen light Fp: This parameter is only visible if you have a UN-A9 charger. I believe that this parameter has something to do with how the charger displays the values for channel 7 to 9 on the UN-A9 charger Mode 2 This is the mode for the external sequence charger module (option). In mode 2 you have five different parameters: CC: Refers to charge cycles (for port 1 to 8 on the external sequence charger module). CC can be set between the value 0 and 9. If CC is set to 0 the sequence charger will not work. If CC is set to 1 then the charger will charge the connected batteries in sequence If CC is set to 2 then the charger will: charge - discharge charge Page 6 of 14

If CC is set to 3 then the charger will: charge - discharge - charge - discharge - charge FF: This parameter is the discharge cut-off voltage value for the charge/discharge cycles according the CC parameter. This is a bit tricky but it appears to be nine different FF values. I would guess that this is the discharge cut of voltage value according to the CC parameter. This would mean that you could actually specify different discharge cut of voltage values for the 9 different discharge cycles. ch: This parameter specifies if you have the old or the new external sequence charger module. Set ch to 0 if you have the old model and set ch to 1 if you have the new model. (I do not know the difference between the old and the new model) FF: This is the discharge current for the charge/discharge cycles. The number directly after FF refers to the previous FF parameter above (discharge cut-off voltage). This means that you could specify the different discharge currents for the different discharge cycles. PP: This parameter changes the behaviour of the external sequence charger. If PP is set to 0 then the sequence charger charges port 1 to 8 in sequence. If PP is set to 1 then the sequence charger parallel charges port 1, 2, 5 and 6 (all at the same time). Page 7 of 14

Once these four ports have reached the set value in the chosen memory the sequence charger switches and instead starts to parallel charge port 3, 4, 7 and 8 Parallel charge of port 1, 2, 5 and 6 on the external sequence charger. Once this charge is completed the charger will continue with port 3, 4, 7 and Mode 3 The translation from the original Chinese manual interprets this as a two charger cascade mode. I have not tried this mode since I do not have two chargers but it seems that you simply connect two chargers together and then the master charger will control the slave charger. The only way I can see how the two chargers could be connected together is via the 4-pin data port on the right side of the charger (this is the same port the charger uses to control the external sequence charger module). I would also guess that in that case you would use the same data cable as you use to the external sequence charger. The only parameter under mode 3 is dd : The dd parameter can only be set to either 0 or 1. I would guess that this is the way to determined which charger is the master and which is the slave. Page 8 of 14

8. Calibration and maintenance mode 8.1. Mode 4 You can access mode 4 by simultaneous pressing the Under and the Start/stop buttons for three seconds. Mode 4 is indicated by the mode number on the display. Observe that you can step down from mode 4 to mode 3 the normal way but you cannot step up from mode 3 to mode 4 the same way. You enter in to mode 4 settings the same way as for the other modes. The first screen under mode 4 setting shows the value 260 (for my charger). This parameter can be set between 200 and 400 (I do not know what this parameter does) Screen 2 under mode 4 settings shows the value 220 (for my charger) This parameter can be set between 200 and 380 (I do not know what this parameter does) Screen 3 under mode 4 settings shows a voltage value that seems to be somewhat related to the connected battery (mostly cell number one although the values does not really match spot on). You can adjust this value up or down by pressing the Under or the On buttons. Once you have pressed any of those two buttons the value stops flashing (I do not know what this value does) The number 1 below the voltage value is not adjustable. Page 9 of 14

Screen 4 under mode 4 settings shows a cell voltage value for each cell of the connected battery. If no battery is connected to the charger these values show 0v. I would guess that by altering these voltage values you can adjust the voltage shown on the main screen. In my case these values correspond reasonable well with the actual cell voltages on the connected battery. Screen 5 under mode 4 settings shows three additional voltage values. In my case these values show 0v but if I would guess I would say that these values show the voltage values from channel 7, 8 and 9 on the nine channel UN-A9 charger. Screen 6 under mode 4 settings shows the parameter A: This parameter can only be set to either 6 or 9. This parameter is to specify if you have the six-channel UN-A6 or the nine channel UN-A9 charger. If you set A: to 9 on the UN-A6 charger you will see a new parameter (Fp:) under the settings menu for mode 1 but the charger will also beep to warn you that something is wrong (the charger probably detects that something is incorrect with the necessary hardware for channel 7, 8 and 9). Screen 7 under mode 4 shows the value 0.4 (for my charger). This parameter can be set between 0.1 and 1.0 (I do not know what this setting does). Page 10 of 14

8.2. Mode 9 You can access mode 9 by simultaneous pressing the Select and the On buttons for three seconds. Mode 9 is indicated by the mode number on the display. Also note that under mode 9 the value in the top left corner of the display is now alternating between the normal input voltage value and something that looks like some kind of temperature value You enter in to mode 9 settings the same way as for the other modes. Under the first screen for the settings for mode 9 you will find a parameter called J3: The value J3 changes depending on which button is pressed. If no buttons are pressed the J3 shows the value 000. The second screen under mode 9 appears to be identical to the third screen under mode 4. Once you press Select to move to the next screen under mode 9 you will actually jump back to screen 4 under mode 4. Page 11 of 14

9. Firmware This document is based on the menu settings from a UN-A6 Plus+ charger with (what I believe is) firmware version Eb: This is the number shown on the display when the charger is turned on. 10. Hardware versions There exists a large variety of different hardware versions of the UNRC balancing chargers. Sometimes multiple versions share the same name and sometimes versions that appear identical have different names. UNRC UnA9 Plus+ This version have different menus that the other charger versions below. This version only has mode 0 and 1. This document is not valid for this version. UNRC UnA9 Plus (colored buttons) This version appears to be identical to the UNA6 Plus+ charger versions below except that this version has nine charge channels instead of six. UNRC UnA9 Plus (black buttons) This version appears to be identical to the UNA6 Plus+ charger versions below except that this version has nine charge channels instead of six. UNRC UnA6 Plus+ (colored buttons) This version is probably more like the UnA9 Plus+ charger. I make this assumption based on the text Intelligent recognition under the data port. This would indicate that this charger only has mode 0 and 1. Page 12 of 14

UNRC UnA6 Plus+ (colored buttons) This version appears to be identical to the UNA6 Plus+ charger version below UNRC UnA6 Plus+ (black button) This version appears to be identical to the UNA9 Plus charger version above except that this version has six charge channels instead of nine This document is based on this version UNRC UNA6 Plus I believe that this version is slightly older than the + versions above. Some menu settings might be the similar but most likely most menus are different. UNRC UNA6 pro This version is probably the second version in the UNRC balancing charger series. This version has different menus than the other charger versions above. This document is not valid for this version. UNRC UN-A6 This version is probably the first version in the UNRC balancing charger series. This version has different menus than the other charger versions above. This document is not valid for this version. Sequence charger module (new) I believe that this is the new version. The newer version has one data port in one small connector on the left side. Sequence charger module (old) I believe that this is the older version. The older version has two data ports in one big connector on the left side. Page 13 of 14
