4 DOUBLE DEFLECTION GRILLE AUR SECTION A - GRILLES AND LOUVRES Description The Double Deflection Grille is designed for use in supply applications but equally suited to the return air installation. The grilles have adjustable blades fitted horizontal in the front and vertical in the rear. There is an optional removable grille core to facilitate ease of installation and cleaning. All grilles feature attractively designed extruded aluminium features. A single deflection grille is available fitted with front horizontal blades only. Standard finishes are in natural anodised or powdercoat white but other colours available upon request. Free Area Factor To calculate the free area, the grille s nominal area is multiplied by f1, where f1 is a correction factor and is determined by the graph. For single deflection the nominal size is the grille s Y dimension. For double deflection it is the grille s X dimension. Example: Size 300 x 150 single deflection. From the graph, f1 = 0.79 for the grille height of 150. The grille s free area is therefore: 300/1000 x 150/1000 x 0.79 = m 2. For a double deflection include the factor f1 for the grille length. 9 SLIMLINE WALL GRILLE AST, AAT SECTION A - GRILLES AND LOUVRES Description The Slimline Wall Grille is designed for use in supply, return or exhaust air applications. They are manufactured from high quality aluminium extrusion with a choice of two blade angles, 0 and 15 and supplied as standard with a flange. They are recommended for side wall, or bulkhead mounting. A variation on the standard Slimline is the flangeless type which is popular with architects which utilises an I frame to hold the bar assembly. All grille core assemblies are mounted in a sturdy frame and can be either fixed core for security purposes or removable core for easy access. For Y sizes over 500mm and X sizes over 1200mm the core is fixed. Note for ceiling applications the grille must have a fixed core. This grille core is manufactured from high quality aluminium extrusion and fixed into a sturdy frame for security; it is non-removable. There is a choice of between straight or angles blades, 0 and 15. There is also a heavy loading floor grille specifically design to take point loads up to 450kg. It is manufactured from cast iron and available in two sizes; to suit either 600 x 300mm or 600 x 600mm floor openings. For ceiling installations the grille must of fixed core specification. This grille is an attractive, robust unit manufactured from aluminium extrusion and powder coated to provide a long lasting finish. The standard finish is white electrostatic powdercoat. Air Filtration: An optional filter is offered for removable core grilles. It can be filter is easily removed to access for cleaning or replacement. The filter media is manufactured in a synthetic nonwoven material. It offers low air resistance, long life and satisfactory dust extraction efficiency. 21 EGGCRATE GRILLE AEC SECTION A - GRILLES AND LOUVRES Description The Eggcrate Grille is the most commonly used in ceiling mounted return air applications, they are not suitable for floor mounting. The grilles have extruded aluminium frames with a 13mm x 13mm x 13mm aluminium egg crate core. The standard inner core is removable with options to order either a push up type or alternatively a pull down type. Hinged models are available as standard and provide easy access to filters or other equipment. There is a spring retaining clip for easy fixing. The free area of the grille is >90% of the nominal area, providing maximum air flow with relatively low noise levels. The standard finish is in white powdercoat. Air Filtration: A filter is offered as a standard option in removable core grilles. This filter is easily removed for cleaning, easy access or replacement. 24 EXPANDED MESH GRILLE AMG SECTION A - GRILLES AND LOUVRES Description The Expanded Mesh Grilles are designed for use in exhaust, return or supply air applications and may be mounted into walls or ceilings. They are not suitable for floor mounting. The grilles have extruded aluminium frames with a steel expanded mesh core. A large range of sizes are available. The open area of the grille is in the range of 75-80% of the nominal area, providing maximum air flow and low noise levels. The standard finish is white electrostatic powdercoat. 31 SECTION A - GRILLES AND LOUVRES Description The Aluminium Door grille has horizontally mounted blades firmly fixed into a frame. An adjustable frame with spring clips fits into the rear of the door insert to affix the grille and provide a flush cosmetic finish. Screws are not required. All grilles are manufactured from natural anodised aluminium extrusion and fit doors from 30mm to 45mm thick. The louvre profiles ensure maximum air flows at minimum sound levels. The weather louvre is suited for fresh air intakes or exhaust applications. Standard weather louvres are manufactured with either flanged frame for surface mounting or channel frame for recess mounting. Bird wire is fitted to the rear of the weather louvre as standard. 45 LINEAR SLOT DIFFUSER A BLADE ALDA ALDA25 SECTION B - DIFFUSERS Description The Linear Slot Diffuser is available with 20 or 25mm slots. It can be used for supply or return air and available in one up to eight slots. The term A-blade describes the damper profile as viewed from the end cross section. Either blade in each slot can be fully open or closed to achieve the desired flow and discharge angle. The design incorporates concealed aligning keyways for continuous application. It can be installed into plenums or linear ducts in sections or continuous lengths. Centre T-rails are easily removed to simplify installation. The blades are adjustable to direct the air pattern. Corner sections are available and the maximum length of each individual piece is 2700mm. Flangeless versions are also available but note that alters the neck and face dimensions slightly. 49 LINEAR SLOT DIFFUSER U BLADE ALD SECTION B - DIFFUSERS Description The Linear Slot Diffuser - U blade profile fits into a 20mm slot and can be used for supply or return air applications. It is available in one up to eight slots. The U-blade can be adjusted by toggling the damper from a median position to an offset position which increases the flow through one side of each slot and changes the angle of discharge. 52 LIGHT AIR BOOTS AABS AABD SECTION B - DIFFUSERS Description The Light Air boots are available as single or double discharge units. They are designed to be fitted onto fluorescent light units or used in conjunction with a ceiling T-bar system. Light fixture specifications will be required for correct fitting. There are three types of diffuser blade options depending on the discharge angles and flow rates required. Al diffusers are manufactured from galvanised sheet steel with aluminium blades which can be adjusted via the outlet slot. Partially insulated versions are available which have bare end plates. It has a flat outer border or alternatively there is bevelled type border which lowers the diffuser face 50mm proud of the ceiling. The standard frame can slot into a T-bar or be mounted into a plaster ceiling. The core is removable and there are five different styles to choose from depending on the air distribution requirements, see application section. 60 HIGH VOLUME SWIRL DIFFUSERS PHVSD SECTION B - DIFFUSERS Description The High Volume Swirl Diffuser provides a uniform radial pattern of air across the ceiling to provide a good temperature distribution with minimal draughts in the occupied zones. The design ensures comfort can be maintained across a broad range of flow rates. It is designed to be either flush ceiling mounted in a grid section or plasterboard mounted. The plenum is fitted with an internal diffuser plate to improve the pressure distribution. The diffuser is secured by a single centre screw and hidden from view behind a push-on decorative cap. For lower flow rates, restriction rings (#1 to 5) are available for the PHVSD and aesthetically hides inside the neck behind diffuser face. 63 CIRCULAR DIFFUSERS ACDSC, ACDRA SECTION B - DIFFUSERS Description The Circular Diffuser is available as a Cone type or a Plate type construction and fabricated from steel. These diffusers are commonly used in foyers, lobbies or arenas. They are designed to accommodate a range of flow rates using an adjustable core to supply diffused air in the horizontal plane. The Cone type unit can be adjusted to increase the vertical throw which reduces ceiling stratification during heating mode. The standard installation is ceiling mounted or fixed to exposed duct work. The core of the diffuser is easily removed for fitting and cleaning. The standard finish is white powder coated paint applied to a pre-treated surface and baked at 180 C to ensure a tough surface that resists damage, fading and discolouration.
