3 Swegon R&D Academy The Test Centre at Whitstable provides state of the art facilities for testing a complete range of products. It was designed in accordance with BSRIA recommendations and benefits from third party annual assessment. It has a well equipped demonstration area where tests can be witnessed by contractors, consultants and end clients. Third party witnessing by BSRIA is available if required. The test facility is fitted with the latest equipment and exceeds the requirements of BS EN 12238:2001 (for air terminal devices aerodynamic testing and rating for mixed flow applications) with a test room size of 7.5m long x 5.6m wide x 2.8m high. Ceiling heights and floor voids can also be adjustable depending on the test regime required. A purpose designed air handling system is able to supply conditioned air across a wide temperature range in both heating and cooling modes with volumes up to the equivalent of 20 air changes per hour being available. Sophisticated measuring and logging equipment is able to monitor air volumes, velocities, pressures and temperatures as well as airflow pattern visualisation via the use of smoke generation within the test laboratory. 4 Introduction FlowBar is an architecturally designed high capacity linear slot diffuser. It is designed to combine a high air handling capacity with maximum flexibility and is suitable for either ceiling or sidewall applications. The flexibility of the system can blend into a design or provide contrast with its striking but simple design. FlowBar is a flexible system that can provide straight lines or curves to blend with other architectural elements and enhance the overall concept of the project. 5 Specification High Throw (HT) Series FL-10-HT 25mm Slot FL-15-HT 38mm Slot FL-20-HT 51mm Slot FL-25-HT 63mm Slot FL-30-HT 76mm Slot The High Throw series is primarily designed for ceiling applications and allows the air diffuser to become inconspicuous, whilst fully integrating into the ceiling system. The FlowBar systems satisfy both architectural and engineering requirements for designing an air distribution system that will maintain optimum room air conditions whilst being efficient yet inconspicuous. Integral pattern controllers are 600mm in length allowing the airstream to be directed left and right for horizontal and vertical airflow. Standard slot sizes are 25mm, 38mm, 51mm, 63mm and 76mm with single section lengths available up to 2400mm. Frame styles 66 (surface mounted), 22 and 55 (plaster frame border) and 11 flangeless are available as standard. Factory engineered plenum boxes are supplied to ensure a trouble free installation and to ensure published performance data is met. Specification Jet Throw (JT) Series FL-10-JT 25mm Slot FL-15-JT 38mm Slot FL-20-JT 51mm Slot FL-25-JT 63mm Slot FL-30-JT 76mm Slot The Jet Throw series has pattern flow controllers to allow the airstream to be jetted in a horizontal direction (sidewall mounted) whilst fully integrating into the wall system. The FlowBar systems satisfy both architectural and engineering requirements for designing an air distribution system that will maintain optimum room air conditions whilst being an integral component of the architectural concept of the project. Integral pattern controllers 600mm in length allow the airstream to be directed vertically left and right (ceiling application) and up and down (sidewall application) at a 45 angle. Jet Throw pattern controllers allow extended throws in typical high bay applications for heated and/or cooled air. Jet Throw pattern controllers are useful along perimeter walls where heated air can be directed downward. Standard slot sizes are 25mm, 38mm, 51mm, 63mm and 76mm with single section lengths available up to 2400mm. Frame styles 66 (surface mounted), 22 and 55 (plaster frames) and 11 flangeless are available as standard. 30 Standard Installation Details - High Throw (HT) & Jet Throw (JT) UHC Upper Hanger Clip The upper hanger clip is used to suspend the FlowBar assembly from the structure. The clip is designed to utilize standard ceiling hanger wire. UHC is for 1 slot only and FL-10, 15 and 20. H2 Hard Ceiling Clip The H2 hard ceiling clip is used to mount the FlowBar assembly with border type 55 when 25mm thick plasterboard ceiling is required. H3 Hard Ceiling Clip The H3 hard ceiling clip can be used to mount the FlowBar assembly with border type 22 when a standard plasterboard ceiling is required. Specifications Material/Finish Standard is a minimum of 0.7mm thick galvanised steel. Construction Plenum boxes are generally fabricated in 3 sections, which are either mechanically joined or spot welded to form an airtight seal. As standard, spigots are side entry and located centrally. All boxes are supplied with stepped edges. F9 (HT) or hemmed edges F6 (JT) as standard. Installation Options Fixing lugs can be factory fitted if preferred or special fi xing methods (by others) may be used.
