4 PRODUCT OVERVIEW General Price Venturi Valves (VV) are designed to supply or exhaust air independent of pressure. The valves are built to operate within a specified duct pressure range. Constant volume valves are designed with the linkage locked at a specified flow from the factory but can be manually adjusted in the field. Variable volume valves (VAV) are designed to accept direct digital controls (DDC) based on either electronic flow feedback or airflow sensor feedback depending on the application. All VAV valves will be shipped with the actuator mounted and calibrated. Receiving Inspection After unpacking the assembly, check carefully for shipping damage. If any damage is found, report it immediately to the delivering carrier. During unpacking and installation, do not handle valve by the inlet plunger shaft or plunger shaft brace. Damage may result from improper handling. Do not tamper with the linkage assembly as the valve is shipped factory calibrated. VENTURI VALVE W/ CONSTANT VOLUME VENTURI VALVE W/ VARIABLE VOLUME Never carry or lift the valve by the linkage assembly support brackets, or control box. 2 VENTURI VALVE - Manual pricecriticalcontrols.com

10 INSTALLATION AND MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS LMX - Linear Module The Linear Module (LMX) is a digital sensor that is used with a Venturi valve to monitor airflow. The LMX will output a 2-10 VDC signal that is proportional to the current airflow through the valve. In addition, the module has the second function of measuring the current pressure across the valve and signaling both a 2-10 VDC pressure output signal and an alarm through the Alarm Light and Contact Closure. The alarm is activated when the valve is working outside of its normal operating range. Each LMX is factory calibrated to the Venturi valve it ships with. Do not switch modules in field. 17 CONSTANT VOLUME CONTROL Constant Volume Price constant volume valves are factory calibrated for a selected air flow and can be installed in the field without adjustment for maintenance free operation. The valve can be adjusted in the field if changes to the air flow are required. The control arm is held in place with two locking nuts. CONSTANT VOLUME CONTROL ASSEMBLY CAUTION: Ensure the air flow is shut off prior to adjusting to prevent possible injury from crank arm. Loosen Nut A, to provide more threaded bar length to adjust Nut B. Turning Nut B clockwise (as viewed from the inlet) will adjust the control to decrease the flow rate. To increase the flow rate, adjust Nut B counterclockwise. Once the correct airflow has been achieved, Nut A should be re-tightened. FIGURE 14 TAG FIGURE 15 CLEVIS PIN WARNING: Constant Volume Valves are shipped disassembled. Do not install valve. Constant Volume Valve Reassembly 1. Cut tie and remove instruction tag from the valve as shown in Figure 14. For a multi-body valve there will be more than one cable tie. 2. Remove the clevis pin from the location shown in Figure 15. The hair pin must be taken out first. Keep both the clevis pin and hair pin for Step 4. FIGURE 16 FIGURE 17 HAIR PIN 3. 18 OPERATION & MAINTENANCE Start Up and Operation Before start up operation, familiarize yourself with the unit, options, accessories and controls so you understand proper system operation. All personnel should have a good working knowledge of general start-up procedures and have the appropriate start-up and balancing guides available for consultation. Air System Balancing All duct-work must be complete and connected, and all grilles, filters, access doors and panels must be properly installed to establish actual system operating conditions BEFORE beginning air balancing operations. Each individual unit and attached duct-work is a unique system with its own operating characteristics. For this reason, air balancing is normally done by balance specialists who are familiar with all procedures required to properly establish air distribution and fan system operating conditions. These procedures should not be attempted by unqualified personnel. After the proper system operation is established, the actual unit air delivery should be recorded in a convenient place for future reference. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for undesirable system operation due to improper design, equipment or component selection, and/or installation of ductwork, grilles, and other field supplied components. Troubleshooting Symptom Noise Actuator Does Not Operate (Where Available) No Feedback Signal (Where Available) Actual airflow does not match airflow feedback Pressure is in alarm on module but airflow is present Possible Cause 1. Foreign material in valve 2. Vibrating duct work 1. Confirm that power is being delivered to the unit 2. Verify control signal 3. Verify that the disconnect switch (where available) is not open 4. Verify that the fuse (where available) is not blown 1. Confirm that power is being delivered to the unit 2. Ensure External Position sensors are plugged into LMX and that there is no damage to the wire 1. Confirm static pressure is within specified range 2. Confirm that there is no blockage inside the duct or valve 3. Confirm that there is no damage to any tamper proof paint 4. Verify that there are no ductwork leaks before or after the valve 5. Verify that the valve is installed in the correct orientation 6. When LMX is present, verify flow reading at module and compare to flow equation in controller 1. Measure static pressure across valve on available brass tees to confirm pressure reading 2. Ensure that red tubing runs from the valve inlet to the high (red) port and the green tubing runs from the valve discharge to the low (green) port Replacement Parts Replacement parts are available.
