7 The Design To avoid overusing smaller joints in the hands, we designed our wheelchair to utilize the larger muscle groups Attaching lever arms to be placed in a position similar to bench pressing Use strength from Pectoralis Major, Deltoids, Biceps, and Triceps to move the wheelchair forward with less required force and strain

9 Lever Arm Main objectives: Want wheelchair to utilize a moment arm lever system for ideal forward motion Have easier and fluent motion with use of lever arms, instead of applying motion on regular wheelchair wheels

44 Back Wheel Rotation Main objectives: Use the two right-hand drive tires to make both back tires Design allows for tire rotation without movement of chain ( in motion )

72 Aesthetics Painting the additions of the wheelchair has its benefits The additions we designed will be more clearly distinguished using fluorescent colors Wheelchair will stand out, allowing cars to spot the wheelchair while driving and make the journey much safer for both parties It will help hide discoloration in the metal that formed as a result of welding Rust prevention

74 Safety Features Painted bright/fluorescent colors to allow the wheelchair to be spotted easier by motorists Reflective tape was placed on the back of the seat in a triangular shape A flag was placed on the back of the seat

75 Limitations If there were no restrictions for time or costs during this project, we would have done a few things differently: Different gears for uphill, downhill, etc Addition of chain derailleur to allow shifting between gears Design proper left-hand drive cassette

76 Ideal Build Some of the components that we would change for an idealized or perfect build would be: Have a wheelchair made of an easily weldable material Create a stronger and more firm lever arm attachment Disc or hydraulic brakes

78 Conclusion Our project turned into many smaller components that we had to complete to create the ideal model We are happy with what we accomplished in this time period and would reccomend the Mobilichair to anyone!
