2 Safety Procedures Before reading this Technical Note, please refer to the section on Safety Procedures in the Barak User's Manual. About this Technical Note This technical note describes the method of replacing a UV LAMP on the Barak printer, as well as the filters. Open the printer s HOOD. 2. Turn off the electricity supply. The air supply is automatically switched off. 3.

3 Replacing the UV Lamp You should always rest the UV Lamp Assembly on a clean, level table. The assembly's Fans should rest on the table. The new UV lamp should never come in contact with your skin. When handling the lamp, always use a clean cloth or tissue. To replace the UV Lamp: 1. Open the printer s HOOD. 2. Turn off the electricity supply. The air supply is automatically switched off. 3. 4 4. Disconnect the AIR SUPPLY TUBE by pushing down the blue ring and pulling up the tube, as shown below. Pull up the air tube Push down the blue ring Figure 4: Disconnecting the Air Supply Tube 5. Disconnect the MAIN LAMP UNIT CABLE CONNECTOR by pushing the lever down, as shown below. Remove the complete UV Lamp Unit and place it on a clean level surface, with the lamp section on top, as shown in Figure 7. You should always rest the UV Assembly on a clean, level table. The Lamp Fans should rest on the table. The new UV lamp should never come in contact with your skin. When handling the lamp, always use a clean cloth or tissue. 6 8. Using an Allen key, remove the two retaining screws and carefully slide out the large and small aluminum covers, as well as the QUARTZ (glass) PANEL (Figure 8). Open the UV LAMP SHUTTER with your fingers, as shown in Figure 9. Figure 9: UV Lamp Shutter open 10. At both sides of the lamp, loosen the screws that hold the white wires connected to the UV lamp, and remove the wires, as shown in Figure A Matan Digital Printers Ltd Page 6 of 13

Carefully open one of the LAMP HOLDERS and insert one end of the lamp. 15. Carefully open the other LAMP HOLDER and insert the other end of the lamp. 16.

At one end of the lamp, carefully open the LAMP HOLDER and pull out the lamp. 12. Pull the lamp out of the other holder. 13. Take a new UV lamp and remove its protective cover. 14. Carefully open one of the LAMP HOLDERS and insert one end of the lamp. 15. Carefully open the other LAMP HOLDER and insert the other end of the lamp. 16. Insert the white wires into the connectors and tighten the screws. 17. Clean the QUARTZ PANEL with alcohol. 18. Carefully slide in the QUARTZ PANEL and the large and small aluminum covers, to their original location. 19. Secure the panels to the unit by applying Loctite 272 to the two Allen screws and locking them into position on the aluminum panels. 20. 8 The air supply will be automatically activated. 21. Carefully remove the two HOOD RETAINING PINS. If you find difficulty in removing the pins, open and close the HOOD until you can easily remove the pins A Matan Digital Printers Ltd Page 8 of 13

Replacing the Dihroic Filters Before replacing the Dihroic Filter the UV Unit has to be resting on a clean level surface and the UV Lamp removed. To replace the Dihroic Filters: 1.

9 Replacing the Dihroic Filters Before replacing the Dihroic Filter the UV Unit has to be resting on a clean level surface and the UV Lamp removed. To replace the Dihroic Filters: 1. Carry out the first eleven steps in the above section. The following figure shows what the unit should look like at this stage. It also shows the six Allen screws that secure the two filters in place. Six Allen screws 2. Remove the six Allen screws that hold the filters in place. 3. Remove the retaining strip on each filter as shown in the following figure, and remove the filters in the same direction A Matan Digital Printers Ltd Page 9 of 13

Insert two new filters in place of those you just removed. 5. Place the retaining bar at the filters edge and secure them with three Allen screws and washers for each filter. 6. Take the UV Lamp and continue with steps in the above section. 7. Turn ON the electricity supply. The air supply will be automatically activated. 8. Carefully remove the two HOOD RETAINING PINS.
