4 Introduction 1.3 Important safety information The safety instructions and warnings described here are intended to safeguard your health as well as protect the product. Please read the following points carefully. Damage resulting from inappropriate use or the failure to observe these instructions or safety information is not covered by the guarantee. Liability will not be accepted for secondary damage. General conditions If the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set is used at escape doors and emergency windows to protect against summer heat and glare and to provide privacy, the batteryoperated emergency retraction set is activated in case of an emergency to clear the escape route. Correct functioning of the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and batteryoperated emergency retraction set and, therefore, unblocking of the escape doors and emergency windows in case of an emergency are only ensured if you follow our safety instructions closely. Installation preparations Danger to life from restrictions of the escape route while during installation of the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set! Before beginning installation, inform the safety officer that the escape route is available only to a limited extent. It must be ensured that the building can be evacuated along a different escape route. Risk of injury and damage to the product from incorrect installation! Comply with the specified installation steps and instructions. Install the product only if it is in technically perfect condition. Before installation, check the mounting substructure to make sure it can bear the loads. Widely cordon off the installation site and the projection area of the external venetian blind. Danger to life and limb if the WAREMA control is not used! It must be ensured that the external venetian blind is only activated by the associated electronic battery-operated control. Manipulations by third parties must be excluded. It is important that the external venetian blind is not blocked by dirt or obstacles. Packaging Risk of suffocation! Do not leave the packaging material lying around, and keep children away from small parts. Plastic film, polystyrene, small parts, etc., can be very dangerous for children to play with. Electrical connection Danger to life and product damage from incorrect procedure during commissioning! If the following points are not followed, no warranty can be granted for functional problems, soiling and damage. The external venetian blind must remain out of service until the commissioning has been released. Raise the external venetian blind fully to clear the escape route. The external venetian blind is sufficiently raised if the external venetian blind disappears into the cover panel (if present), or if the escape door or emergency window can be opened. Electric shock from incorrect installation! The electrical installation must be performed by a certified electrician in accordance with the electrical installation regulations published by the Association of German Electrical Engineers (VDE 0100) or the standards and regulations of the country in which the product is being installed. The specialist must observe the installation instructions included with the electrical appliances. Before commissioning the product, remove all lines that are not required. Disconnect any devices that are not needed for operation. [M _0] - EN / Page 4 of 20 Subject to change without notice

These controls can be combined with the emergency retraction system. However, this must be clarified on a case by case basis. Do not use the external venetian blinds in icy or frosty weather. Liability cannot be accepted for damage to the sun shading system resulting from the operation under icy conditions. We recommend using an ice monitoring system. * The emergency push button and the batteryoperated control together make up the emergency retraction set 2.2 Technical data/accessories Weight Value Flat slat Approx. 2.7 kg/m² Beaded slat Approx. 3.1 kg/m² Dim-out slat Approx. 3.2 kg/m² Tab. 1: Weights for external venetian blind [M _0] - EN / Page 6 of 20 Subject to change without notice
7 Product information 2.3 Intended use The external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set is an external sun shading system used at escape doors and emergency windows to protect against summer heat and glare and to provide privacy. In the projection area of the external venetian blind, there must be no obstacles/protruding parts (for example, door stop), especially on the door leaf, that would prevent raising of the external venetian blind while also opening the escape door at the same time. If this cannot be prevented, other technical measures must ensure that the closure on the door leaf can be opened before the escape route is cleared by the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and batteryoperated emergency retraction set. However, this must always be planned and approved by the architect/planner or the local building authority. Inappropriate use may result in significant danger. All external venetian blinds for external use are designed for a wind load of 1.1 kn/m² (DIN 1055). The directive entitled "Wind loads for construction of closures and awnings when retracted Section 5.1.1" 1 defines the positions at which these products can be installed without requiring special precautions. Compliance with legal provisions and countryspecific regulations on site is the responsibility of the ordering party/building owner. There may be regional regulations and conditions that prohibit use of the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set. However, each and every case cannot be investigated by WAREMA. Use of the battery-operated control for external venetian blinds with auxiliary motor and batteryoperated emergency retraction set is only permissible in normal room climates. The intended use only applies in the specified temperature range (as per the technical data in the installation instructions). Use in damp locations (such as swimming pools) is not permissible. The heating from outside influences must be less than the intrinsic warmth. To ensure that the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set can be activated reliably, the external venetian blind must always be operated via the associated electronic battery-operated control. Additional loads on the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set, such as from suspended objects, could damage the product or cause it to fall (for example, tearing of the lifting tapes), or cause the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set to fail, and are therefore also not permitted. The intended use also includes observing these instructions and the installation conditions. 1 Published by the Bundesverband Rollladen + Sonnenschutz e.v. and Bundesverband Konfektion Technischer Textilien e.v. - BKTex [M _0] - EN / Page 7 of 20 Subject to change without notice

18 Attaching the tension cable Check whether the tension cable is conducted through the punched cable holes on all slats and on the bottom rail Performing a functional check with the external venetian blind The motors are preset at the factory. It is not permissible to set the upper limit position. Attach the thread end piece to the tension cable bracket by tightening the nut. Hand-tighten the tension cable. Screw on two nuts. DANGER Danger to life and product damage from incorrectly set limit positions! Do not adjust the upper limit position of the motor. It is not permitted to change the factory setting. The escape door could be blocked if it becomes impossible to raise the sun shading system. Connect the programming cable to the plug-in connector of the external venetian blind drive. Check the limit positions of the external venetian blind by lowering and raising it multiple times. Slide the spring tension device, spring and adjusting ring onto the tension cable. When the adjusting ring is located below the spring tension device, tighten the clamping screw. In the lower limit position, the bottom rail should not rest on an object. The blind must hang freely in the lifting tapes. Raise the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set fully to the upper limit position to clear the escape route. The external venetian blind is sufficiently raised if the external venetian blind disappears into the cover panel (if present), or if the escape door or emergency window can be opened. Remove the test cable. Turn the second nut downward by 6 rotations. The pretension is then at approx. 250 N. Do not use the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set until the battery-operated control has been taken into service. [M _0] - EN / Page 18 of 20 Subject to change without notice
19 DANGER Danger to life and short circuit from damage to motor line! Damage can lead to a short circuit and/or the required emergency retraction time is not reached. Keep the motor line away from all moving parts. To secure the motor line, press it into the line clamps on the top rail Final tasks Installation step... performed (from these installation instructions) The motor lines are secured in such a way that they cannot come into contact with moving parts. A functional check of the external venetian blind was performed and the external venetian blind exhibited smooth running behaviour without a jerking motion. The upper limit position of the motor was not set P DANGER Danger to life from unintended use (see p. 7)! The installation location and installation situation have been checked for suitability. If Section 2.3 is not met in its full scope, the safety officer must be informed. DANGER To ensure reliable operation, follow all of the other points in the instructions as well. Hand over to the customer the operating and maintenance instructions with the inspection log for checking the external venetian blind with auxiliary motor and battery-operated emergency retraction set (one instruction manual per external venetian blind).
