2 ABOUT THE IMMOBILIZER DIAGNOSTIC MANUAL The immobilizer diagnostic manual outlines the detailed procedures to troubleshoot complaints related to the engine immobilizer system fitted on Mahindra Scorpio Vlx/Sle/Lx (Refresh) vehicles. Since the engine immobilizer system is related to vehicle security, only authorized persons (CoTEKs) can work on the immobilizer system in conjunction with M&M TEKline. This manual covers Procedures to be followed while reassigning old keys or assigning new keys to a vehicle. Procedures to be followed while replacing Engine Management System (EMS) ECU or Immobilizer ECU (ICU). Retrieving s from ECU and/or ICU, analyzing the complaint and taking corrective action. In spite of our best efforts to make the manual error-free, a few errors could have inadvertently crept in. 4 MAN How to Use this manual. The manual is divided in to 2 parts. The first part outlines the procedure to be followed when any of the components, viz Keys, EMS ECU or Immobilizer ECU (ICU), needs to be replaced. The second part outlines the trouble shooting process. If the code is known, then go to the Index of code, and click on the. The codes are hyperlinked and the respective page containing the trouble shooting procedure for that will be displayed. The following is the structure of the Diagnostic Manual (Trouble shooting process) Brief description about the sensor/actuator and its functions Possible defect codes related to that sensor/actuator Normal/Abnormal operating conditions of the sensor/actuator, possible causes and vehicle/engine reactions Related circuit diagram, connectors and wiring plans Trouble shooting process The s for Immobilser are generated at the ICU as well as at the Engine EMS ECU. Hence it is essential that after looking at the at ICU, the at the EMS ECU should also be checked. Based on the combination of s, the possible causes and the corrective actions to be taken. 7 MAN Warranty & Other Information All failures/complaints encountered on EMS ECU and/or ICU controllers need to be reported through a Common Rail Failure Report (CrFR)/Service Complaint Report (SCR). Replacement of any of the EMS ECU or ICU controller requires approval of the TEKline. Ensure that a TAR is raised # in the TEKnet website for approval, attaching the CrFR/SCR. While raising a warranty claim, the TAR no should be quoted on the warranty claim. # Only a trained and certified CoTEK can raise a TAR (in TEKnet website)

8 MAN Key assignment guideline Note - Only 2 keys/vehicle possible at any point of time Notes 1. Duplicate key should be ordered after customer verification by the dealer 2. Fill up the DKR format (Duplicate Key Request Ver2 ) and mail it to keysmith@mahindra.com 3. Once the new key is received, follow the key assignment process as below.

11 MAN Immobilizer ECU (ICU) Replacement Important Note - The vehicle can be started without completing the TOOL PROGRAMMING KEY 2 and AFTER SALES CODE 2 stages. However the vehicle cannot be attended in future for any work on Engine ECU, IMMOBILIZER ECU or the keys.

12 MAN EMS ECU and Immobilizer ECU (ICU) replacement Both keys available Important Note - 1. The vehicle can be started without completing the TOOL PROGRAMMING KEY 2 and AFTER SALES CODE 2 stages. However the vehicle cannot be attended in future for any work on Engine ECU, IMMOBILIZER ECU or the keys. 2. If any one of the keys is not available at the time of learning, only one key (present key) can be assigned to the vehicle. The vehicle cannot be assigned the second key anytime in the future.

Key is rejected by Immobiliser ECU Replace the key. Perform the transponder learning Clear error at both EMS ECU and Immobiliser ECU Inform the customer about the theft attempt. + EMS code P-1832 Immobilized condition. Key is rejected by the Immobilizer ECU Somebody duplicated the mechanical key and tried to start the vehicle. Theft attempt is made Clear the errors at EMS ECU and Immobilizer ECU (ICU) and alert the customer.

Probable Cause: Somebody duplicated the mechanical key and tried starting the vehicle. Theft attempt is made Clear the errors at EMS ECU and Immobilizer ECU (ICU). Alert the customer. If more than one error is found in EMS ECU please follow the priority of the errors during. Here below the errors are listed in the priority error. Here below the errors are listed in the priority error. + EMS code No error code recorded Probable Cause: Wrong dataset is flashed in the EMS ECU. Flash the correct dataset. + P-183D EMS is locked Vehicle Behavior: Vehicle not starting. Check lamp in the cluster is ON/Blinking. Probable Cause: Invalid Immobilizer CAN wiring related error. ICU-EMS not learned. Check the CAN wiring. Learn the Immobilizer ECU( ICU) to EMS ECU. Clear the errors at EMS ECU and Immobilizer ECU (ICU) Flash the correct dataset.

Clear all errors in both EMS and ICU If more than one error is found in EMS please follow the priority of the errors during. Here below the errors are listed in the priority error. + EMS Error code P-183A Signature Mismatch Probable Cause: Invalid immobilizer ECU ( ICU)/ EMSECU. Signature mismatch. CAN wiring issues. Check the CAN wiring if it is correct. Perform ICU- EMS learning. Clear all errors in both EMS and ICU + EMS Error code P-183B EMS is locked Probable Cause: Invalid Immobilizer CAN Wiring related

Clear all errors in both EMS and ICU + EMS Error P-1832 Immobilized condition Probable Cause: Immobilizer circuit is faulty Immobiliser ECU is not working properly. Transponder is not working /faulty EMS is flashed with wrong dataset Check the Immobilizer circuit. Clear the errors at EMS ECU and Immobilizer ECU (ICU). Inform the customer about the theft attempt.
