1 CIRRUS SRX Service Bulletin Number: Issued: Revised: 0 Oct 07 SNS SUBJECT: SPECIL PURPOSE EQUIPMENT - CPS Rocket Shelf Ground Wire. COMPLINCE Mandatory: Cirrus ircraft considers this Service Bulletin to be MNDTORY. ccomplish this Service Bulletin at next annual inspection. Compliance time begins upon receipt of this Service Bulletin. This bulletin was revised to update Compliance. Operators who have successfully complied with the original release of this Service Bulletin, dated 0 Oct 07, must reference Revision of this Service Bulletin to confirm accomplishment instructions have been met and ground wire routing clarification has been reviewed (Refer to ccomplishment Instructions Step Q.(3) Warning and Figures 0, 0, and 04). Operators who have successfully complied with Revision of this Service Bulletin, dated 06 Nov 07, need take no further action.. EFFECTIVITY SR0 Serials thru 0-67 after SBX-95-0, 0-68 thru 0-4 after SBX-95-7, 0-43 & subs w/o Perspective after SBX-95-8, thru 0-7 w/ Perspective after SBX-95-9, 0-8 thru SR Serials -000 thru -080 after SBX-95-7, -08 & subs w/o Perspective after SBX-95-8, -487 thru -394 w/ Perspective after SBX-95-9, -395 thru SRT Serials T-000 thru T-044 after SBX-95-9, T-044 thru T PPROVL F approval has been obtained on all technical data in this Service Bulletin that affects type design. For aircraft not operating under F requirements and regulatory oversight, it is the operator's responsibility to ensure that installation of this Service Bulletin has been accepted by the local airworthiness authority. 4. PURPOSE It has been discovered that aircraft with the CPS electric ignition could possibly be vulnerable to inadvertent activation due to certain highly abnormal electrostatic surge effects. n incident recently occurred on an unoccupied customer aircraft parked on the ramp during a lightning storm where an electrostatic surge caused by a proximate lightning strike activated the CPS rocket and parachute deployment. Based on Cirrus' investigation of this incident, the probability of the exact electrostatic conditions for an aircraft on the ground to experience an uncommanded CPS deployment is extremely improbable. Nevertheless, it has been determined that the addition of the rocket shelf ground wire will further mitigate against the rare possibility of an uncommanded CPS deployment. The inspection determined that this is a ground-based remote possibility only and not an in-flight risk. 5. DESCRIPTION This Service Bulletin contains instructions to install the rocket shelf ground wire. Page
