3 TYPE 125 A patented 1. Technical description Sampling Valve Type 125 A Sampling of chemicals out of reactors and pipes under vacuum or pressure. (up to 10 bar and 180 C) Body: Piston: O-Rings: With : Stainless Steel (316l), Hastelloy, Titanium,etc. PTFE, reinforced with glassfibers (FDA) Chemraz white, Viton/PTFE encapsulated, Viton, Silicone, EPDM (FDA) - Bottle 150ml, glass pyrex covered in stainless steel and quick coupling - Purging valve 1/4'' 2. Sampling free of dead volumes Tightness with patented piston In closed position tightness is made directly by the piston on the inside walls of the valve, without O-Rings, packing or seats allowing a perfect tightness without dead volumes. 4 4. Functioning TYPE 125 A patented Fig. 1 Fig. 2 Normally closed position : - The piston (9) closes the connection of the reactor or pipe without dead volume (Fig. 1). The perfect tightness is ensured directly by the piston (9) on the body. Sampling : - The piston (9) is wheeled down to the opened position. The product flows down into the sampling bottle (2) (Fig. 2). - The operator checks the desired quantity of product through the sight glass. - The piston (9) is wheeled up, and ensures a perfect tightness when in closed position (Fig. 1). - The pressure (or vacuum) in chamber (25) is equilibrated by opening valve (V). - The sampling bottle (2) can now be removed by the quick-coupling connection (5).

Piston 25 Venting valve 72 Actuator 1 Sampling bottle 1 Check that the sampling bottle 1 is fixed, and the venting valve 25 closed (Fig. 5). 2 Open progressively the piston and: 3 Observe the flow of the product in the sampling bottle. Caution! Do not overfill! This could result in flow of product when removing the sampling bottle! 4 Close the sampling valve. 5 Open the venting valve Remove the sampling bottle 1. 7 Refix the empty sampling bottle 1. 8 Close the venting valve 25.

Sampling free of dead volumes Tightness by patented piston The stainless steel piston closes on its metallic seat, and a supplementary tightness is ensured by a high temperature gasket. 3. The perfect tightness is ensured by a contact metal-on-metal on the seat, and in supplement by a high timperature gasket (91). Sampling : - The piston (9) is wheeled down to the opened position. The product flows down into the sampling bottle (Fig.2). - The operator checks the desired quantity of product through the sight glass (3). - The piston (9) is wheeled up, and ensures a perfect tightness when in closed position. - The pressure (or vacuum) in chamber (V) is equilibrated by opening valve (25). - The sampling bottle (2) can now be removed by the quick-coupling connection (5).

20 TYPE 125 ST without dead volume / patented OPERATION Normally closed position: The piston (9) closes the connection of the reactor without dead volume and a perfect tightness is insured directly by the piston. The venting valve (25) is closed. The sampling bottle (3) is connected. The butterfly valve (31) is closed. Purging valves (26, 27, 28, 29, 30) are closed. Sampling: The sampling is only possible with closed venting valve (25) and sampling bottle connected. The butterfly valve (31) is opened. The piston (9) is wheeled down to the open position. The product flows down into the sampling bottle (3). The operator checks the desired quantity of product through the sight glass. The piston is wheeled up, and ensures a perfect tightness when in closed position. Only when the piston is fully closed the venting valve (25) can be opened. Close the butterfly valve (31). Rince the volume between piston and butterfly valve through the venting valve (25) and the purging valve (26). The sampling bottle, with butterfly valve (31) closed, can now be removed through its quick-coupling (5). Cleaning : Connect sampling bottle,open butterfly valve (31) clean the volume between the piston and the sampling bottle using the venting valves (25) and (27). The volume under the piston is cleaned using the purging valves (29) and (30).
