Be sure to allow enough extra length of concentric wires to conned to earth. ii Mark centre line «M» of the bushing. ii Remove the outer cable sheath to apoint 280 mm from the centre line {( M» of the bushing. ii Applyo tope marker around the outer sheoth 70 mm from the edge. For indoor applicotions, ben d the screen wires back over the outer sheoth and proceed to step no. 5. For outdoor applications: - Wrap one loyer of water seoling mostic (type MWS) around the outer sheoth, flush with the end (25 mm minimum width). Completely encircle the cable. - Bend the screen wires back over the mastic and olong the outer sheoth, pressing them into the mostic. Important: screen wires should not touch eoch other when pressed into the mastic to prevent water ıngress. ımı Using odhesive tope, fix the screen wires at o distance of min 150 mm from the edge of the outer sheoth. MI Cut the cable to apoint 230 mm from the outer sheath.

Use an appropriate pencilling tool. Make a smooth transition between core insulation and semi-conductive screen. ii Remove any traces of conductive residue from the core insulation.

Remove the core insulation from the conductor for a distance «C» mm (C = depth of contact bore + 15 mm). D B. Do not sharpen in cone-shape. ii Thoroughly dean core insulation. Always wipe towards the screen wires. ii As o protection, wrap o few turns of adhesive tape around the conductor end. ımı Remove field control mastic strip, fype MFC-RLT, from cooted paper. Apply the mastic on the cutback ed ge of the semi-conductive screen, covering approximately 5 mm of the extruded semi-conductive screen ond 5 mm of the core insulotion. Push the mastic in place while stretching it progressively until both ends overlup and tear-off the excess mastic. Using the coated side of the paper, squeeze the mastic tightly in ploce on the step of the semi-conductive screen. Lproıedive cable reducer adhesive lape r-e. c.q.",> CD cc D Iubricote" the indicated orea : core insulation, mastic, semi-conductive screen and inner surface of the reducer. tl Slide the reducer down the cable until flush with the tape marker. ii Remove protective adhesive tape from the conductor.

5 Page 5 of 9 CRIMPING/TIGHTENING OF THE CONTACT ---ı Compression type contacts (Type TBC-X) Please refer to the crimp charf supplied with the contacf. ---z--- deep indent crimping DIN crimping condudor tonlad -+-_equipmenl bushing D For aluminium condudors : before installing the condudor contad, wire brush the condudor. tl Fıt the contad on to the condudor. Position the crimp contad taking care that the contad hole aligns with the bushing hole. ii Prior to crimping distance «ı» must be between 155 and 165 mm. ii Crimp the contad. Please refer to the crimp chart for crimp sequence. M After crimping distance «İ» must be between 155 and 165 mm. If necessary, adjust the position of the cable reducer until distance «İ» is within the tolerance ronge. IJ Remove any burrs left af ter crimping and wipe-off excessinhibitor.

6 Page 6 of 9 Sefare tightening Mechanical type contacts (Type TMSe-X) conduc!or conloc! coble reducer conloc! polm D For aluminium conductors : before installing the conductor contact, wire brush the conductor. tl Insert, if necessary, the centre ring into the contact barrel according to table ı. i) Position the contact so that the contact hole aligns with the bushing hole. Before tightening, distance «İ» must be between 155 and 165 mm. 1.1 Tighten the screws slowly and alternately, with the tool according to table 2, until the heads shear off. Shear off screw CDfirst, then screw 0. It is recommended to use the holding tool for ease of installation. LI Remove any sharp points of the screws, protruding above the contact barrel. 7 Page 7 of 9 CONNECTOR INSTALLATION ON CABLE dean cable reducer '-- lubricale ' D Clean cable reducer, core insulation and contact. tj Lubricate* the inside of the connedor housing and outer surface of the cable reducer. i) Check if the longer interiace of the tee connector is pointed towards the bushing. Whilst preventing the cable reducer from further movement down the cable, gently slide the housing on the cable. Its final position is reached when the centre of the contad spade is along the axis of the interfaces of the connedor. The cable reducer must st ay in place during installation. ii For mechanical type contads : make sure the contad spade locks into the connedor's housing. CONNECTOR INSTALLATION ON BUSHING ---1 equipmenı bushing. <.:) d:i ci D Clean and lightly lubricate* both connedor and bushing interfoce. tj Push the connedor on to the bushing.

8 Page 8 of 9 iiill [ JI damping screw 22 mm socket L 90 mm extension II' 1/2" - 12,7 mm torque wrench Insert clamping screw into the threaded hole of the bushing. ii Use a torque wrench with a socket wrench 22 and tighten exerting 50 Nm (5 kgm or 36,9 foot-pounds) of torque. In order to achieve the correct applied torque ensure that there is no lubricant on the threaded parts _ lubricate basic insulating plug 22mm socket 1/2" - 12,7 mm torque wrench 1.1 Clean and lubricate* the insulating plug for the opposite side of the connedor. nı Insert the plug in the connedor and tighten assembly : use torque wrench with socket of 22 and tighten exerting 30 Nm (3 kgm or 22,1 foot-pounds) of torque. In order to achieve the correct applied torque ensure that there is no lubricant on the threaded parts. c) Z L.U 6 ================== c)

9 Page 9 of 9 INSTALLATION OF THE CAP CONNECTOR EARTHING AND CABLE CLAMPING proledive cop A. Installation on insulating plug BIPR without voltage detection point (for applications up to 24 kv only) : Clean inside of the cop and outside surface of connedor and insulating plug. Push cap over the connedor and on to the insulating plug. Slightly pull up the edge of the cop to exhaust the air during assembly. Position the cap with the pulling tab pointing downwards. proledive cop B. Installation on insulating plug BIPA with voltage detection point (for applications up to 36 kv) : Clean inside of the cop and outside surface of connedor and insulating plug. Push cap over the connedor and on to the insulating plug. Slightly pull up the edge of the cop to exhaust the air during assembly and while pressing the centre of the cop on to the locking point until it snaps in place. Position the cop with the pulling tab pointing downwards. D Bend bock the screen wires along the outer sheoth to form o pig tail. tl Conned the earthing lead and screen wires to the system earth. NOTE: A connector/bushing mated combination should not be allowed to carry the full weight of the cable. Therefore damp the cable as close as possible to the connector. IMPORTANT NOTES: e-, - Never disconnecf the connector from energised equipment nor energise a disconnected connector - without previously installing on its appropriafe corresponding mating part. -s;: - Do not allow hydrocarbon oils or solvenfs fo confaminate the E.P.D.M. rubber.
