1 1.0 PRE-START CHECKS 1.1 Check before first put into operation. Check all screws on trailer for tight seat. Retighten wheel screws (M14 x 1.5) with 140Nm if necessary. 1.2 Each day prior to starting, carry out the following daily maintenance checks: Check oil level in engine. Check oil level in the oil level controller reservoir. Check coolant level. Check fuel level in the tank and replenish if necessary. Fuel tank should never be allowed to run dry, otherwise air will be drawn into the fuel system thus affecting the running of the unit. Care must be taken to avoid breathing in toxic fumes. Keep enough distance during replenishing. Check gel batteries for pollution and clean them if necessary. 2.0 CONNECTING TO AIRCRAFT Pull out the output cables of the boxes only as far as needed. Check that output-cables are not placed near exhaust outlet. Check the cables and the aircraft plugs for visible damages. Defective equipment may not be used. Remove excessive pollution (snow, ice, water, dirt) before handling. Push in the aircraft plugs completely and secure against pulling off by tightening the additional fixing belts. 2.1 Protection system modified overcurrent protection (TN): According to DFS400, the protection system of the GPU is designed as modified overcurrent protection (TN). 2 (alternator) has good connection to chassis and ground. Additional grounding connections have to be performed according to the local regulations. (A grounding/ earthing cable with clamp (25mm 2 ) is scope of supply) It is not possible to switch in the 400Hz outputs continuously without being fully connected to the aircraft plug. (Prevented by the E-F contact on 400Hz plug) 2.2 Protection system modified protective insulation (IT) (optional): According to DFS400, the protection system of the GPU is designed as modified protective insulation (IT). The star point of the current source (alternator) is insulated from chassis (ground). (Insulation-test voltage 4kV, 50Hz for 1 minute) It is not possible to switch in the 400Hz outputs continuously without being fully connected to the aircraft plug. 3 3.0 START Don t start the GPU if the message Bypass on is displayed on VFD display. Seq Action Reaction Display LED/ LED on 1 Switch on battery main-switch on left side if 28 VDC cable trough (above batteries). GPU 24 VDC main supply is 2 Push Power. The control voltage is Push motor start 3 Push Motor start/stop. Messages on display are shown. LED 28VDC Current Limit on service panel must illuminate for a few seconds and then extinguish. At low temperatures (5 o C and below), the preglowing unit must operate. Engine must start. Engine must run After reaching nominal values (about 15sec) the GPU is ready for supply. FOR GPU S WITH 28VDC NOT SIMULTANEOUS It is NOT possible to switch on 400Hz outputs and 28VDC (option) together. (400Hz OR 28VDC). Only plugged in outputs stay switched on!
