2 Q: Sleek, elegant design, thinner, rounded edges? A: The RollEase clutch line (Skyline in particular) is more aesthetically pleasing, sleek and modern looking, fitting in with today s modern and upscale architectural designs. This is important in situations when the clutch and bracketry is visible. The Mecho clutch and bracket combo has a square oldschool, heavy, industrial appearance. Q: Multi-spring design for smoother operation? A: Every RollEase clutch utilizes a multi-spring design which provides smoother operation than single spring clutches. RollEase clutches are also available with Velvetrol, a patented advanced spring configuration which evenly distributes the internal forces to provide an even smoother operation. (Velvet-control, or Velvetrol) Q: Spring Assist (Lift Assist) reduces pull forces to 6-7 pounds for a 30 lb. shade? A: The RollEase Spring Assist lifts heavy shades easily. The pull force on any shade weighing up to 30 lbs. (13,5kg) is reduced to approximately 6 lbs. (2,7kg). Mecho s Lift Assist Mechanism is limited to shades weighing a max of 20 lbs., and no calculator software is available. Pull forces are unknown. Q: Easy to install mounting brackets? A: The RollEase mounting system is modular (brackets are separate from the clutch). Bracket mounting holes are unobstructed and easy to screw into position. The brackets may be installed any time during the construction phase with the clutch and fabric kept out of the dust and construction area until just before building occupancy. The Mecho clutch and mounting bracket are permanently attached together. The mounting holes are partially obstructed by the clutch mechanism making installation more difficult. Since the Mecho clutch is a part of the mounting bracket, pre-installation during the construction phase could risk damage to the operating system. Q: Easier installation of shade? A: The RollEase System is easier to align when installing and can be done with a single installer holding the shade in the center. The Mecho shade is more difficult to mount with one installer since the clutch side must be precisely aligned with the bracket. The installer can t easily align this from the center and must hold the shade close to the clutch side. As the shade is no longer balanced, a second installer must assist and support the pin-end side while the first installer aligns the clutch and bracket. Once the clutch is aligned and mounted then the pin end may be hooked by the second installer. Q: Easy field conversion from left hand to right hand and from standard to reverse roll? A: RollEase Systems are easily field converted from LH-RH and from standard to reverse roll in the field. Simply by switching clutch and pin end, shade can be retrofitted easily in the field with no adverse effect on performance. A: RollEase offers the Galaxy G400 clutch with Spring Assist manual solution for shades up to 53 lbs with pull forces reduced to a level one would expect on a much smaller shade. Mecho promotes their Lift- Assist Mechanism (LAM) for shades lbs or more with expensive motorization as the only option for heavier shades. Q: Wide range of operating systems available? A: RollEase is the leader and largest designer and manufacturer of high quality operating systems worldwide offering a complete line of manual window covering options and systems. RollEase s award winning lift systems are used 3-to-1 over the next brand. Mecho has advertised for years that their friction-brake system was superior to all clutch systems. More recently, however, Mecho has discontinued manufacturing this friction-brake system and is now offering a technologically inferior single-spring clutch system while RollEase continues to offer the R-Series and Skyline lines of multi-spring clutches as well as the Galaxy geared clutch. Q: No-notch fascia available? A: RollEase R-Series fascia must be notched. RollEase offers a no-notch line, the Skyline Collection. Mecho s one clutch fascia system does not need notching. Q: Spline design for mounting fabric, allows for easy fabric change in event of damage or change in fabric? A: RollEase does not currently offer spline or tube with a spline receiver, however, RollEase systems maybe be used with certain third party tubes that have a spline element incorporated into them. Mecho offers only a spline system. Also a spline attachment is not necessarily superior to LSE (low surface energy) double-sided adhesive tape. (SEE POINTS AND COUNTERPOINTS FOR DETAILED). Q: Multi-shade with single control capability, multiple shades can be controlled with one lift system? 4 Q: Dual shade capabilities, for use with sunscreen and blackout shades? A: RollEase offers a Skyline Dual Shade system along with Alkenz Solar Screen and SierraSol Blackout shade fabrics. Q: Modular design operating system with easily replaceable components A: RollEase systems are modular, meaning the clutch and brackets are separate components. Mecho has the clutch and bracket permanently attached together. RollEase components can easily be swapped in the unlikely event one becomes damaged because of extreme abuse or mis-handling. Since Mecho clutches and brackets are one unit, the entire fixture must be replaced. Q: Constructed out of the toughest, state-of-the art materials A: Mecho sells against RollEase by claiming RollEase materials are thinner, lighter weight and therefore weaker components, and they push the perception that RollEase is less rugged. RollEase clutches are constructed out of a more durable type of fiberglass-reinforced resin PBT and are designed to last for the lifetime of the shade under normal circumstances, and they can also withstand most mis-handling and abuse. The Mecho clutch is constructed out of a less tough thermo plastic and is combined with a heavy steel mounting bracket for its support. The thermo plastic used in Mecho clutches is more brittle and inferior in significant key categories. Mecho will only compare their clutch material when it is mounted in the heavy steel casing of their mounting bracket. Since RollEase components are modular and can be shown separate from our protective steel mounting brackets, it has been reported that Mecho may lead unsuspecting architects down a misleading path by comparing their clutch and bracket combo versus the RollEase clutch alone. See plastic analysis below. Q: Warranty covers expected life of shade? A: RollEase clutches are backed by a lifetime limited warranty. Mecho offers warranty at a maximum of 25 years.
