Updating the XSTART and RFTD Firmware Required components: XSTART. XKLOADER. Directed Electronics D2D cable. Page 6 1 Connect the XKLOADER to the computer. Only one XKLOADER must be used. USB Port USB Connector XKLOADER Update the XSTART firmware: 2a Connect the XSTART to the XKLOADER using the D2D cable. 2b Close all applications on your computer and open the Optimax Flash interface software. Make sure no other application is using the same COM port. USB Connector XKLOADER Part # XKD2D65 4-PIN D2D XSTART 2c The current software is listed under Unit Information. Choose the version you want to update from the Available Updates drop-down menu list. 2d Click on the Flash button to update XSTART. A message will be displayed to confirm when the operation will be completed successfully.

Page 7 Update the RFTD firmware: 3a Press and hold the Programming button on the XSTART 3b Connect the XSTART to the XKLOADER using the D2D cable. USB Connector XKLOADER Part # XKD2D65 4-PIN D2D XSTART 3c Close all applications on your computer and open the Xpress VIP software. The current RFTD firmare is listed under Current Information in Xpress VIP. 3d 3e Choose the firmware version by clicking on the Browse or Refresh Information. Press and hold the Programming button on the XSTART module, then click on the Flash button in Xpress VIP. Once the progress bar appears, you can release the Programming button. A message will be displayed when the flash operation has been completed successfully.

Programming the Caution: The module can only be programmed a maximum of 5 times on a vehicle. 1 2 Press Check the transmission mode of the vehicle: - Automatic: cut the loop on the XSTART module. - Manual: go to step 2. and hold the Programming button on the module. T-HARNESS: Determine the T-harness required for the vehicle, 1) CHTH1 (included) 2) CHTH2 (not included) See page 3 Vehicles 2004-2007, see page 4 Vehicles 2008 and higher, see page 5 Connect the Unlock wire (purple/white) from the module to Ground for one second. See the CHTH1 installation on page 3 for more information. Turn the key to the "ON" position and hold until the red LED on the module starts to flash rapidly. Vehicles equipped with OEM alarm: Press the unlock button on the remote car starter remote control. or Put the Purple/White wire to ground with a jumper for 1 one second. Vehicles equipped with (+) starter at Ignition: Note: Ensure that the Lt Blue/Black wire from the module is connected to the vehicles starter wire. Start the vehicle with the key. The LED on the module will start to flash twice as fast. Turn the key to the "OFF" position and remove the key. IGN IGNITION ON CHTCH1 OR CHTCH2 IGN 8 9 The Red LED will continue to flash until you press the lock button on the OEM remote. If the vehicle is not equipped with the OEM remote: press and release the programming button of the module once. The LED will turn off to indicate the module has been programmed. The module is now ready for use. Continue with the remote-starter programming. LOCK PANIC UNLOCK

Programming a 2-Way Remote 1 Turn the Ignition on. IGN Page 9 Press and hold the programming button on the module for 5 seconds, 2 then release. 2 Press and release the programming button on the module once more. 3 The parking lights will flash and the horn will honk to confirm. 3 4 5 Press and release the brake pedal once. The parking lights will flash once when you release the brake pedal. Press and hold the LOCK button on the remote for 2 seconds. 5 6 Turn the Ignition off. OFF To program extra remotes, repeat steps 1 to 6 for each transmitter. (A maximum of 4 remotes can be programmed.)

Ready Mode 1 2 3 4 5 6 Make sure that all doors are closed and the transmission is in the NEUTRAL position. While the engine is running, engage the parking brake. Make sure the brake pedal is released. Push the remote START button. The parking lights will flash once and then remain on. Remove the key from the ignition barrel. The vehicle will remain running with the Remote-Starter. Exit the vehicle and close all doors. Programming the Available Features 1 2 Disarm alarm and disable valet mode, then turn the ignition on. Press and hold the XSTART Programming button for 5 seconds, then release it. Press and release the XSTART Programming button 1-33 times for the desired CHANNEL (refer to pages 12 and 13 for more information).
