Section 1 Introduction 1.1 1.2 This service manua provides the instaation instructions, periodic maintenance requirements, troubeshooting procedures, service procedures, and standard abor times for Cascade s C-series oad push and oad push/pu. Truck System Requirements Truck Reief Vave Setting: 2000 psi, maximum. Voume: 30C: 3-5 GPM 45C: 5-7 GPM Recommended hose and fitting size: No. 6 (% inch, I.D.). Truck carriage must conform to the industria Truck Association (ITA) dimensiona standards as shown in the chart at the right. Make sure the truck carriage is cean and the notches are undamaged. In order to conform to industry standard practice, the hoses shoud be connected to the truck auxiiary vave as indicated by the chart at the right. WARNING: Do not ift the attachment by the facepate. CONNECT TO OJUNCTIO; BLOCK 1 L Function \ Nippe @ CAUTION: To prevent contamination of thesequence or check vave, fush the truck hoses by connecting them togetherand actuating the push/pu ever for 30 seconds in both directions to carry foreign matter to reservoir fiter. Do not pinch, twrst, or otherwise damage the hoses. NOTE: Make certain the centering ug on the attachment engages a notch on the upper fork bar on the truck. Form 5181 Rev. 1 3-2

Section 2 Instaation Instructions. 2.1-2 Instaation (Non-Sideshifting Cont.) 0 Raise the truck carriage into position on the attachment and tft the attachment 1 to 2 inches off the foor. 0 Insta the ower mounting hooks and tighten the capscrews to a torque of 105-15 ft.-bs. NOTE: The hooks shoud contact the truck carriage ower crossbar. The ova hoes on the hook aow you to move them up or down to attain a maximum cearance shown. (Quick Disconnect Units: turn both hooks up and reinsta the pin.) Truck Carriage Lower Crossbar max Raise carriage into position, Lift attachment 1-2 inches off the paet. QUICK DISCONNECT Prior to Operation WARNING: Keep personne cear of unit when first extending facepate. Air insta ower mounting hook and tighten to a torque of 105-15 ft..bs OLD DESIGN Turn the hooks up NEW DESIGN and insta the pin. Retighten the bots to a torque of 6070 ft.-bs. Remove air from the system by extending the facepate fuy, and keeping it there for 10-20 seconds with the contro vave actuated. NOTE: This shoud correct an irreguary extending facepate. If it does not, retract the facepate and repeat the process a second time. Operate the unit through severa compete cyces and make sure a functions operate smoothy and correcty. PUSH/PULL UNITS: The gripper jaw shoud open prior to the facepate extension when the contro hande IS pushed forward The gripper jaw shoud cose competey prior to facepate retraction when the contro hande is pued back. 3-3 Form 5181 Rev. 2

. Section 2 Instaation Instructions 2.2 Load Push and Load Push/Pu (Sideshifting) 2.2-1 Truck Preparation Skip Steps 1 through 4 if the unit is equipped with Quick Disconnect mounting hooks. TO ATTACH THE SIDESHIFT CYLINDER ANCHOR BRACKET: 0 Position the cardboard tempate*in the center notch of the truck carriage. @ Mark the two ines shown and remove the tempate. CAUTION: Correct anchor bracket positioning is crucia for proper sideshift cyinder operation. Pace tempate in center notch. *@ If the tempate is not avaiabe use the dimensions shown beow to ocate the bracket. 0 Position the cyinder anchor bracket on the marks and wed the bracket in pace using AWS E7018 rod. Preheat to 300-350% and wed the bottom and sides of the bracket with a 0.40 inch fiet wed. Insta specia contro knob TO INSTALL THE CONTROL KNOB (Soenoid Units Ony): Remove the existing knob from the auxiiary vave contro hande and insta the specia knob as shown. If the contro hande is not threaded, wed on the specia adapter suppied with the specia knob. NOTE: It may be necessary to saw off a portion of the contro hande to achieve a comfortabe ength. CAUTION: Secure the cabe assemby to the contro hande so the cabe wi not be pinched at the truck cow when the hande is actuated.! threads Jam Nut (tighten to secure knob) Specia Adapter (discard if not Auxiiary Truck Vave Contro Insta contro knob pacard If the contro knob has 1 button, then the two-function side of the contro knob pacard shoud be showing. When the contro knob has 2 buttons then the three-function side of the pacard shoud be showing. Fit the dimpe on the pacard into the recess on the knob and insta the snap ring. When the contro knob has 3 buttons the three-function side of the pacard shoud be showing. Fit the dimpe on the pacard into the recess on the knob and insta the snap ring. ALL UNITS PERFORM THE FOLLOWING: @ Pace the sideshifting bearing segments in the notches of the truck carriage as shown. Appy a ibera coating of graphite base grease to the bearing segments. t-a-t-a-- 32-in. carriage: A=Qin. min.-16in. max. 36-in. carriage: A=14in. min.-17in. max. TO INSTALL THE HOSES TO THE JUNCTION BLOCK: IMPORTANT: On soenoid operated attachments your junction bock may be mounted on the opposite side from the one shown. You can remove the tubes from the vave and reinsta them on the opposite side of the vave. You must aso reverse the hoses, fittings, eectric cabe and diodes iustrated in grey. grey can be reversed (moved to opposite side of vave) if junction bock is mounted on opposite side. 0 First push the attachment 4 inches (4 = ½ sideshift cyinder stroke) away from the junction bock. NOTE: Open both fittings on the sideshift cyinder to aow the rod to move easiy. @ @ Remove the reusabe fittings from the attachment hoses and cut the hoses to ength as shown. (See the encosed instruction sheet on reusabe fittings.) Reinsta the fittings and attach the hoses to the junction bock. Position the hose guards to prevent the hoses from being scuffed by the frame. NOTE: If two junction bocks are used then repeat Steps 8, 9, and 10 for the other side. nd h 3-7 c J- Reinsta fittings and connect hoses to junction bock. Position hose guards to prevent scuffing of hoses during sideshifting. Form 5181 Rev. 1

Section 3 Periodic Maintenance 3-1 100 Hour Maintenance Every time the ift truck is serviced or every 100 hours of truck operation, whichever comes frrst, compete the foowing maintenance procedures. c] Inspect the paten shims at the bottom of the frame. Tighten the bots and readjust the shims as shown in paragraph 5.7-1, If necessary. 0 Inspect the facepate roers and reated parts for sufficient ubrication. If necessary, ubricate with Dubois FGG-2 food industry grease, Cascade part no. C-669306. 0 Inspect the hoses mounted in the pantograph arms. They shoud be mounted securey and without hose droop. Check for hose wear and kinking at the primary and secondary arm connections. Repace kinked or worn hoses. 3.2 500 Hour Maintenance After each 500 hours of ift truck operation, in addition to the 100-hour maintenance procedures, perform the foowing procedures. q Inspect a bearings and shims at the pivot points for excessive wear. Repace if necessary. q Tighten the capscrews that secure the arm pivot pins to a torque of 14-16 ft.-b. 0 Lubricate the facepate roers and guides with Dubois FGG-2 food industry grease, Cascade part no. C-669306. 0 Inspect the bots securing the gripper pad. Tighten if necessary. IMPORTANT After competing any service procedure, aways test each function through 5 compete cyces. First test the attachment empty to beed excess air trapped in the system. Then test each function with a oad to make sure the attachment operates correcty before returning it to the job. 0 AWARNING: Tighten the paten hook capscrews to a torque of 200-210 ft.-b. 0 Tighten the mounting hook capscrews to a torque of 105-15 ft.-b. 3.3 1000 Hour Maintenance After each 1000 hours of ift truck operations, in addition to the 100-hour and 500-hour maintenance procedures, perform the foowing procedure. jj Check the sideshift bearing strips and segments for excessive wear. Repace if necessary. Keep the bearing strips and segments we ubricated with Dubois FGG-2 food industry grease, Cascade part no. C-669306. 0 On sheet retainer modes check the carrier assemby bearing segments for excessive wear. Repace if necessary. Keep the bearing strips and segments we ubricated with Dubois FGG-2 food industry grease. Cascade Part no. Extend the facepate 18 to 24 inches, turn the truck off, and open the truck auxiiary vaves severa times in both directions. After competing any service procedure, aways test the function through severa cyces. First test the attachment empty to beed air trapped in the system to the truck tank. Then test the attachment with a oad to be sure it operates correcty before returning it to the job. Stay cear of the oad whie testing. Do not raise the oad more than 3 inches off the foor whie testing. 4.1-1 Truck System Requirements Pressure: Your ift truck must suppy sufficient hydrauic pressure to hande the heaviest oad. A pressure drop of no more than 100 psi beow the truck reief vave setting at the auxiiary vave port is OK. If the pressure is not as specified, refer to the truck service manua for adjustment or service procedures. Pressure must not exceed 2000 psi. 4.3-1 Push Function Pressure Test 1. At the attachment vave assemby, disconnect the suppy hose that eads to the base end of the right-hand push/pu cyinder (as viewed from the driver s seat). Pug the cyinder suppy hose with a No. 6 meta pug. 2. Fuse 7.5 Amp ~~~~mn P If there is no votage to the soenoid, begin troubeshooting the eectrica circuit for shorts (be sure to incude the sideshift switch in the contro hande in 7.5 Amp your tests). If there is votage to the soenoid when the sideshift button is depressed, test for coi continuity. + 4. To test for coi continuity, check the soenoid coi by pacing an ohmmeter test ead on each soenoid termina If there is current through the ohmmeter, but the soenoid does not cick when the sideshift button is depressed, the soenoid spoo is jammed and the soenoid vave shoud be repaced. If there is no current through the ohmmeter, the coi is defective and shoud be repaced. 5. Inspect the sideshift bearing strips and segments for excessive wear. Repace if necessary. Keep the bearing strips and segments we ubricated with Dubois FGG-2 food industry grease, Cascade part no. C-669306. 6. The sideshift cyinder seas may be worn. Insta a drain ine in the base end of the cyinder and appy pressure to retract the cyinder. A steady stream of oi after fu retraction indicates a bypass at the seas. Section 4 Troubeshooting 4.6 Troubeshooting the Sheet Retainer Circuit There are three potentia probem areas that coud affect the sheet retainer operations. 0 Insufficient truck hydrauic pressure 0 Defective soenoid 0 Worn or defective cyinder seas To isoate the probem area, compete the check ist in the foowing sequence. 4.6-1 Sheet Retainer Troubeshooting Check List 1. To check for ow hydrauic pressure deivered by the truck hydrauic system to the attachment, insta the pressure gauge in either ine eading to the sheet retainer cyinder. Operate the contro hande. Form 5181 Rev. 1 A pressure drop of no more than 100 psi beow the truck reief vave setting at the auxiiary vave port is OK. If the pressure is not as specified, refer to the truck service manua for adjustment or service procedures. Pressure must not exceed 2000 psi. If the gauge does not register pressure or the push/pu circuit functions instead of the sheet retainer, perform the foowing tests: Check for oose connections in a eectrica wiring (from the contro button, to the trucks ignition switch, to the soenoid). To test for votage at the soenoid disconnect the eectrica eads at the soenoid. Then, using a votmeter or a test ight, make sure there is votage at the eads when the sheet retainer button is depressed. If there is no votage to the soenoid, begin troubeshooting the eectrica circuit for shorts (be sure to incude the sheet retainer switch in the contro hande in yourtests). 0 If there is votage to thesoenoid when the sheet retainer button is depressed, test for coi continuity. To test for coi continuity, check the soenoid coi by pacing an ohmmeter test ead on each soenoid termina. 0 If there is current through the ohmmeter, but the soenoid does not cick when the sheet retainer button is depressed, the soenoid spoo is jammed and the soenoid vave shoud be repaced. 0 If there is no current through the ohmmeter, the coi is defective and shoud be repaced. The sheet retainer cyinder seas may be worn. Extend the facepate. Disconnect the hose at the eft hand push/pu cyinder rod end. Pug or cap the open ports and hoses. Insta a drain ine as shown in the iustration and appy pressure to extend the cyinder. A steady stream of oi afterfu extension indicates a bypass at the seas. Section 5 Service 5.1 Attachment Remova and Instaation Fuy extend the facepate. Lower the attachment onto a paet Remove the ower mounting hooks. For reassemby tighten the capscrews to a torque of 105-115 ft.-bs. Quick Disconnect Hooks: Pu the pin as far as it wi go, rotate the hooks down and reinsta pin as shown. Disconnect, tag, and cap the attachment hoses at the truck junction bock(s). NOTE: Some units wi have truck hoses attached to junction bocks on the attachment. Disconnect and cap these. Disconnect the sideshift cyinder, if equipped, from the truck carriage anchor bracket. Disconnect the eectrica connection at the truck, on soenoid mounted attachments. Lower the truck carriage and back away from the attachment. Quick Disconnect Units: Tit the mast fuy forward before owering the carriage and backing away from the attachment. For reinstaation, reverse the above procedures, making sure tab in upper hook propery engages notch in upper truck carriage bar. 1 Section 5 Service 5.2 Facepate and Pantograph Arms 5.2- Disassemby 0 Remove the cotter pin and pin from the ink on the backside of the facepate. @ Remove the cotter pin and casteated nut that join the secondary arms together. Remove the pin. 0 Disconnect the four gripper hose ends from the tubing on the top primary arm. Disconnect the gripper hose ends from the gripper cyinder fittings. Cap the hose ends and tag for reassemby. 0 Attach a hoist chain to the facepate. 0 Remove the capscrews and pins which hod the secondary arms to the primary arms. 0 Twist each secondary arm towards the facepate center to remove them from the channes on the backside of the facepate. @ Attach a hoist to the frame assemby if the attachment was removed from the truck. 0 Remove the capscrews and pins from the rod end of the push/pu cyinders. 0 Remove the frame capscrews and pins that hod the pantograph arms to the frame. Section 5 Service 5.2-2 Service and Reassemby 0 Inspect a shims, and washers and repace any that are scored or worn uneveny. 0 Inspect the Tefon bushings for wear. Repace the bushings if the coating is scored or worn through. 0 Reassemby is the reverse of the disassemby procedures. Appy grease to pins before reassemby. CAUTION: Shim the primary arms at the bottom to position each cevis as shown. Shim the top of the primary arms to provide,030 inch maximum cearance as shown. Shim the secondary arm at the bottom to provide,030 inch maximum cearance as shown. 0 After reassemby and instaation on the truck, extend and retract the facepate 5 times to beed excess air that may be trapped in the system. If the facepate extends at an ange after beeding excess air, and the cyinders are not defective (see paragraph 4.3- and 4.3-Z). use the foowing procedure to correct the misaignment. NOTE: If any major component (frame, facepate pantograph arm, etc.) has been repaced, use this procedure to correct the misaignment. a. Fuy extend the facepate with the eccentric pin at a neutra positron (the etter N shoud be next to the capscrew). b. Measure the distance between the facepate and the frame on both sides. The measurements shoud be equa within % inch. If the measurements differ by more than % inch the pin opposite the ongest measurement shoud be moved to the R (Retract) positron as foows. c. Remove the capscrew and eyebot. Insert a meta rod and sowy turn the pm around unti the R is near the capscrew. c. Insert the eyebot and tighten the capscrew to a torque of 35-39 ft.-bs. e. If sti misaigned beyond % inch, turn pin opposite shortest measurement to E position, near the capscrew. Remove, tag and pug a tubing at the vave. 0 Remove the two capscrews and ockwashers retaining the vave and spacer (45C ony) to the attachment frame. Spacer (45C ony) 5.3-2 Disassemby and Inspection 0 Remove both springs, spacers, and bas from the bore. Inspect the bas and ba seats for nicks or wear. Repace the vave body if the seat is deepy nicked or scored. Aways repace a nicked bai. @ @ Remove the hex head pugs at either end of the vave to remove the shutte. Remove the adaptor pugs and check cartridges. Repace the seas. 0 Remove the reief cartridge. Repace the Seas. 0 Cean the vave with sovent and inspect a bores for nicks or wear. Repace the vave body if any bore is deepy nicked or scored. Repace the shutte if deepy Remove adapter and nicked or scored. check cartridges and 0 Reassembe the bas, spacer and springs ast. Reseat repace seas, back-up the ba by sharpy tapping it into its seat with a brass iings and o-rings. punch prior to instaation of spacers and springs. @ Seas and cartridges may vary from those shown.
