General information on the functions General information on the functions Scania offers 4 functions for limiting speed. The functions are used to meet customer and statutory requirements regarding, for example, refuse vehicles, fire engines and tractors for transporting heavy goods. Speed limiter 1 is a standard function and is fitted to all vehicles. Speed limiters 2 and 3 Dynamic speed limiter via External CAN All speed limiters can be activated without having to meet any specific safety conditions. Speed limiter 2 and Speed limiter 3 are set by SDP3 (Scania Diagnos & Programmer 3). Order of priority between the speed limiters It is always the activated speed limiter with the lowest set value that controls the speed limiting of the vehicle. The value for Speed limiter 1 is always the vehicle's maximum permissible speed. The following settings apply for emergency vehicles: The value for Speed limiter 1 must be set to the maximum speed permitted when responding to emergency calls. The maximum permitted speed for normal emergency vehicle operation is set with Speed limiter 2 or 3. 22:10-060 Issue 2.1 en-gb 1 (8)

General information on the functions Activation method Speed limiter 1 Speed limiter 1 is always activated when the vehicle is delivered. The function cannot be deactivated. Most vehicles are delivered with a default setting of 89 km/h. The value can be changed at a Scania workshop. Speed limiters 2 and 3 Speed limiters 2 and 3 are activated via BIC (Bodywork Interface Configuration) and External CAN. Note: There are four (4) speed limiters. Speed limiter 1: Always active, usually set to 89 km/h Speed limiter 2: Can be activated via BIC and External CAN (BodyWorkVehicleControl:StaticVehicleSpeedLimitRequest), the speed limit is set by a parameter. Speed limiter 3: Can be activated via BIC and External CAN (BodyWorkVehicleControl:StaticVehicleSpeedLimitRequest), the speed limit is set by a parameter. Dynamic Speed limiter: Can be activated via External CAN (BodyworkVehicle- Control:DynamicVehicleSpeedLimitRequest), assumes the value sent in the signal. 22:10-060 Issue 2.1 en-gb 2 (8)
