Connect DiagnosticLink. Go to step 2. 2. Disconnect the Intake Throttle Valve (ITV) connector. Go to step 3. 3. Turn the ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF). Go to step 4. 4. Is fault code SPN 3509/FMI 3 still present? a. Yes; Go to step 5. b. No; replace the ITV. Refer to section "Removal of the Intake Throttle/EGR Mixer Assembly". 5. Turn the ignition OFF. Go to step 6. 6. Disconnect the MCM 120-pin connector. Go to step 7. 7. Turn the ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF). Go to step 8. 8. Is code SPN 3509/FMI 3 still present? a. Yes; replace the MCM. Refer to section "Removal of the Motor Control Module". Verify repair. b. No; repair the short to power on the circuits for pins 58 and/or 117 of the MCM 120-pin connector. Yes; replace the last sensor that was disconnected when the code went inactive. Verify repair. b. No; Go to step 5. 5. Turn the ignition OFF. Go to step 6. 6. Disconnect the MCM 120-pin connector. Go to step 7. 7. Turn the ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF). Go to step 8. 8. Is fault code SPN 3509/FMI 4 still present? a. Yes; replace the MCM.
