KAIFLEX EPDM, is a new, closed cell foam with excellent resistance to high temperatures. Thanks to its unusual properties, particularly in relation to UV and ozone resistance, there is no need for an additional protective coating when it is used in outdoor applications. Consistently good quality and technical values are guaranteed by continuous internal monitoring. KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM CO is covered with a tear-proof, durable, ozone- and UVresistant outer casing. The casing provides further protection from UV radiation and mechanical stress. The microcell structure of the EPDM insulation provides optimum protection against moisture penetration. The low thermal conductivity of KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM CO minimizes energy losses and thus enhances the efficiency of the system. The product is quick and easy to fit and does not require special tools. This saves time and money. KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM CO is manufactured in an environmentally-friendly production process without using PVC, CFCs or HCFCs. The product has a long service life and maintains its excellent insulation properties - which are not affected by sunlight. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS KAIFLEX EPDM and KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM CO The basic principle for fitting KAIFLEX EPDM and KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM CO is the same as the technique applicable to KAIFLEX tube and sheet materials (see KAIFLEX application guide). The glued joints of the tube systems should always be fitted under compression. It is recoended that you should allow an excess of 3 to 5 cm per continuous metre of material so that the products can be pressed into place. It is important to choose the right important size for the relevant pipe diametre. 5 Sheet is suitable for insulating large pipelines, vessels, air ducts and flat surfaces. Because of increased bending stresses, the sheet is only suitable for large pipe diametres. Tube material for insulating smaller pipe dimensions can be found in the KAIFLEX EPDM and KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM CO. 2 To ensure that the adhesive hardens completely, please do not use the system for 36 hours. 3 The surfaces must be kept clean and dry and free of grease. Dirty surfaces must be cleaned with KAIFLEX cleaner. The ideal processing temperature for the adhesive is + 5 ºC to + 20 ºC. Adhesive should not be used at less than 0 ºC. The maximum processing temperature of + 0 ºC should not be exceeded. 6 The materials may not be installed in wet conditions or when humidity is high. 7 Make sure to use high quality tools when installing the KAIFLEX products, particularly cutters, adhesives and brushes. 8 Never rely on KAIFLEX adhesive tapes as the only way to stick the EPDM material at the butt joints and longitudinal seams. Make sure that the butt joints and longitudinal seams are glued using KAIFLEX EPDM adhesive. When installing the sheet and tubes, the longitudinal seams are applied in the neutral zone at 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock, ideally on the side furthest from the sun. Avoid allowing water or moisture to penetrate the site. The number of seams should be kept as small as possible. KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM 2in2 DUO VA is a highly flexible closed cell EPDM insulation product for insulating pipelines and fittings at high temperatures. The material can also be used in all special areas of solar heating connection lines and collector lines. The lines are insulated by means of the EPDM insulation, which has a flexible PR protective cladding. This cladding, together with the EPDM material, guarantee a high level of mechanical protection for the insulation during installation and, particularly, when used outdoors, as well as providing permanent resistance to chemical and weather-related influences. KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM 2in2 DUO VA is a system consisting of two individual tubes, each of which is clad in a black PE extruded foil. KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM 2in2 DUO VA are joined by a central strut and can be separated with ease using a cutter without damaging the insulation. Another plus point is the integrated sensor line. Slip the nut onto the pipe. 3 5 Place the clamping segments into the first groove. Fix this with the nut. Push the pipe with the nut as far as it will go into the threaded joint. Make sure that the sealing surfaces are clean. 6 Use an open spanner to screw the system together tightly. The nut is correctly tightened once the threads are no longer visible. 0

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FLAT SEAL THREADED JOINT QUICK INSTALLATION TECHNIQUE Use the pipe cutter to cut the hose in a groove. Slip the nut over the hose, fit the inlay ring in the first groove. 2 Use the pinch screw part to compress the groove on the flange. Insert the sealing ring, tighten the pinch screw part. 3 OPTIONAL HAMMER TOOL Work even faster; inserts DN 6-25 can be exchanged. Place the groove of the hose in the insert. 2 Hit hard to compress the groove on the flange. The inlay ring reinforces the sealing flange. 3

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM 2in2 CU ROLL OUT AND INSTALL KAIFLEX SOLAR EPDM 2in2 CU is delivered in a coil and is unrolled at the installation site. It is easy to bend into shape and can be formed as necessary. The bend radius should not be less than 00. When installing in normal situations, fasten with one clamp per metre to avoid stress on the pipe. CUT First separate the flow and return lines of the 2in2 material and cut open the insulation with a sharp knife. Be careful of the sensor line. To work on the pipe, push the insulation back a little. Cut the copper pipe with a pipe cutter. Turn the cutting wheel slowly. Cut the pipe cleanly, any protruding burr can cause injuries. If possible circular pipes should be separated with a fine-toothed metal saw. INSULATE In order to avoid long-term damage to the pipe, it should be carefully wrapped in the insulation. We guarantee the compatibility of the products we supply. Many conventional insulation materials are not sufficiently temperature resistant or can attack copper due to high concentrations of nitrites or aonia. All seams to be glued should have special adhesive applied. Make sure that the pipe is fully insulated after it has been installed. Carefully applied insulation should reliably protect the copper pipe from heat loss and corrosion. FITTING SYSTEM At medium temperatures > 0C, a temperature-resistant sealing element is to be used when crimping, making a clamping ring joint or hard soldering. 2 Clamping ring threaded joint for copper pipes Processing information: According to the manufacturer s data, clamping ring threaded joints can be used for almost all installation systems and are supplied as pre-installed threaded joints.. Insert the deburred and cleaned pipe ends as far as possible into the threaded joint. 2. Tighten the coupling nut by hand and then use a standard tool (e.g. open-ended spanner). 3. This creates a permanent fixed, metal-to-metal seal that is also suitable for flush-mounted installations.. Connect a soft copper pipe from the ring with clamping ring threaded joints according to DIN EN 25-2. Use tubular stiffeners to reinforce soft copper pipes from the inside. 3 Hard welding for copper pipes Processing information: Hard welding should always be used for solar heating systems and at temperatures > 0C.. Cut the pipes to length. Cut the pipes at a right angle to the pipe axis. When using a pipe cutter, make sure that the cutting wheels are sharp and only work at a slow feed rate. Circular pipes should be separated with a fine-toothed metal saw if possible. After cutting, the inside and outside of the pipe ends should be deburred. 2. It is necessary to calibrate the pipe ends of soft copper pipes from the ring in order to get the external dimensions required for all connection techniques. The soldered surfaces of the pipe ends and fittings should be polished clean (free of dirt and oxidization). Non-metallic cleaning fleeces, fine-grain polishing cloths or ring and circular brushes with wire bristles can be used. Any residue from cleaning should be removed. Crimping technique for copper pipes in the higher temperature range Processing instructions: the installation instructions from the relevant manufacturer are always to be complied with when processing the press fittings.. The press fitting should be checked to ensure the sealing element is positioned correctly before use. 2. The pipe ends should not have any residue from burr or dirt (e.g. from mortar). 3. Calibrate the pipe ends.. Crimping should take place in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. 5. Make the insertion depth of the fitting, e.g. with a pen on the pipe. This makes it possible to perform a visual check on the insertion depth prior to crimping. 6. No need to use tubular stiffeners. 5
