7 Our History Milestones CARS was the first squad in the state to offer ALS service One of our very first patients was President Lyndon Johnson while visiting the University Dr. Richard Crampton, a UVA Cardiologist instrumental in setting up our Mobile Coronary Care program Pantridge model Calls screened in C.C.U. 8 Our History Milestones CARS started "stand alone" ALS coverage by utilizing a telemetry radio to call the UVA CCU for ALS orders and advice In 1976, CARS becomes the first squad in the state to require all its members to be certified as E.M.T. s In 1993, CARS formed all-volunteer technical rescue team
