Question 1: Response: I was just looking at your bid and found that on page 6 of 28, Item 2.01 you're specs defines a CUMMINS C-12.?? Are you asking for a Cummins ISX or a Caterpillar C-12 This is an error in the bid document. The intent was for the engine requested to be a Cummins ISX, Brand Name or Equal. I have attached a REVISED Technical Specification Checklist which replaces that contained in the original solicitation. Please use this list in your response. Under Technical Specifications Checklist, Tandem Dump Truck, Utility Dump Body, Page 6, the intent of Item (2.09) is that the top of the actual dump body itself be boxed steel with an inverted angle iron across the top. There are Pockets at each end of the top of the dump body Item (2.11) for the 8 oak board Item (2.12) so that it can sit on top of the dump body. The angle on top of the dump body is just to help hold the board in place. BRAND NAME OR EQUAL: The use of a brand name or equal specification is for the purpose of describing the standard of quality, performance and characteristics desired and is not intended to limit or restrict competition. An item shall be considered to be substantially equivalent, or equal to the specified brand in the opinion of the Chief Procurement Officer, the County can reasonably anticipate sufficiently similar quality, capacity, durability, performance, utility and productivity as provided by the specified brand. The Brand Name or Equal specification shall apply to both the cab/chassis and body specifications and any brand names listed within the specification checklist. Bidders shall designate the alternate brand to be provided within their response.
