2 Maintenance The maintenance of the DissoPrep X8 or X15 has significant influence for the precision of the dosage and the life time. That s why RIGGTEK recommends to attend to following points: 1. regular total emptying, if is not used anymore 2. regular cleaning of the 3. regular / periodical exchange of the filter, frit and tubings 4. yearly maintenance including Validation through authorized service technician RIGGTEK Dissolution Test Systems maintenance of DissoPrep X8 / X 15 10/2013 2

3 1. regular emptying The has be emtyied with Emptying ALL, if it is not used for more than 2 hours. This avoids, that bacterial growth is benefited in a warm and humid environment inside the DissoPrep! Bacterial growth can damage the valves and cause leackages of the valves, which cause errors in the end! 4 2. regular cleaning A periodical cleaning of the has to be arranged. The intervals of the cleaning depend on the following individual factors: the kind of used media (especially if using foaming media the cleaning interval should be arranged shorter) the frequency of using the the whole volume of media, which is prepared with the By a regular cleaning the growth of bacteria is avoided. For cleaning can be used DI-water in the AUTOWASH-function. To prevent possible bacterial growth, it s possible to use very effective 0,2% sodium-hypo-chlorid or more compatible 5% hydrogen-peroxid as washing liquid. This cleaning is harmless for the filter at the inlet channel and for the transparent PVC-tubings, which only may become a little bit milky. For rinsing DI-water is recommended. The cleaning can be done with 1. two complete runs (PREFILL, FILL, DISPENSE, EMPTYING). In the first run with the cleaning liquid in the inlet media. Do the emptying / dispensing after not more than 15 minutes. In the second run with DI-water in the inlet media for rinsing. 2. or with the AUTOWASH-function (if available). 5 2. regular cleaning RIGGTEK recommends in general the weekly cleaning with DI-water and the AUTOWASH-function. Only if a bacterial growth is very probably, the monthly cleaning with 5% hydrogen-peroxid as inlet media is recommended for two complete runs (PREFILL, FILL, DISPENSE, EMPTYING) with 6000ml (DPX 8) or 12000ml (DPX15) at 37 C, empty the DissoPrep with Emptying all or for the AUTOWASH-function with 2 cleaning-cycles with each 6000ml (DPX8) or 12000ml (DPX15) cleaning volume and backflush function. For rinsing RIGGTEK recommends using 7000ml DI-water (DPX8) or 14000ml (DPX15) for two additional complete runs at 37 C or for an additional use of the AUTOWASHfunction with 2 cleaning-cycles with each 7000ml (DPX8) or 14000ml (DPX15) volume. In case that there is a Water Interface (optional) in use, it is to clean regularly, so that bacterial growth is avoided and the float valve is free moveable and so keep fully functional. All sediments incl. limescale / calcium carbonate are to be removed. 6 DissoPrep X8 / X regular / periodical exchange of the filter, frit and tubings The regular / periodical exchange of the filter (filter capsule) prevents the that harmful particals can enter and together with the regular exchange of the tubings bacterial growth is avoided. The regular / periodical exchange of the frit (outlet) secures the precision of the dosing and that low gases are re-aerated in the media while dosing into the vessels. Recommendation: complete inlet tubing incl. filter (= filter capsule) exchange every 12 months articelno. DPX-INLETMED-C filter exchange every 6 months or liter articel-no. SAR P5-OO additive inlet tubing exchange every 12 months articel-no. DPX-INLETACID-C outlet tubing (also for Remote Control Nozzle) exchange every 12 months articelno. 7 4. yearly maintenance A lot of people want to save money by not doing a regular maintenance. But even the best quality of a unit can not avoid normal abrasion. And often people forget, that the consequential costs are mainly much higher than the costs of regular maintenance. To mention are: incalculable costs caused by increased probability of failure expensive repairs caused by missed exchange of wearing parts higher investments caused by shortened life time because of missing regular maintenance through service technicans The considerable points at a maintenance are summarized for the service technicans at the Maintenance Checklist for DPX (see DPX Service Manual, chapter 6.2).
