5 2.0 HEKO round link chins HEKO chins distinguish themselves through: high qulity het tretment tilored to prticulr pplictions high ftigue strength close length tolernce of chin pirs Modern welding mchines re em ployed for the mnufcture of HEKO chins. Chins re mnufctured from wide rnge of mterils including mngnese steels, chrome-nickel steels nd fine grin chrome-nickelmolydenum lloy steels. Our own, modern, computercontrolled het tretment processes produce tempered or cse hrdened chins. 2.1 Het tretment Figure 2: Prt view of the HEKO hrdening shop HEKO cse hrdening mens: High reking lod resulting from tough, fine grin core High wer resistnce resulting from surfce hrdness in excess of 800 HV Cse hrdening results in hrd, wer resistnt chin shell. HEKO offers 6 hrdening depths s stndrd. In ddition HEKO offers vrious hrdening depths to suit individul requirements. A surfce hrdness of t lest 800 HV is supplied s stndrd. HEKO tempered mens: very high reking lods For pplictions where high reking lod is tking precedence over hrdness, tempered round link chins mnufctured from mng nese steel, or CrNi or CrNiMo lloy steel re recommended. HEKO s ttchments re suitle for doule-strnd elevtors. The het tretment of the ttchments will e effected individully to the requirements. There is choice etween different hrdened qulities. Generlly the conveying chins cn e supplied s single components or pre-mounted endless chin strnds. 9 3.2 Chin shckles type TS/TS-N/TS-L Chin shckles type TS / TS-N / TS-L re suitle s ucket ttchments for ll duties. The shckles re tempered nd induction hrdened in the contct res to hrdening depth of t lest 0.14 x d. Shckles type TS nd TS-N cn e used with pocket teeth nd projecting teeth nd toothless chin wheels. Assemly nd dismounting of the shckle is possile t ny time when using spring pins for the fstening of the closing pltes split pins re ville optionlly. The forged distnce plte incorportes n dditionl support on the chin wheel. Both toothed nd toothless wheels cn e used with the TS-Shckle. The TS-N type, though primrily used for verticl ttchment, i.e. rer wll mounted uckets. It hs the sme properties s the TS-Shckle, the only difference eing the use of plin, fricted distnce plte which is more cost effective. The TS-L type is recommended for verticl ttchment nd high turning moments s imposed y wider nd deeper uckets, i.e. high cpcity uckets, nd uckets over 630mm width. An extended distnce plte pro - vides n dditionl support nd extends the supporting centres over three chin pitches. The dditionl support ensures smoother opertion under high lods nd reduces wer. Due to the higher lod cpility, chin nd shckle pitch cn e the sme even with high cp - city uckets. Incresed service life s well s reduced investment nd opertion costs result. Correct selection of components, fitting nd opertion cn eliminte chin slip in most cses, without excess tensioning vi the idling wheel. The incresed contct re provided, fter the initil running-in period y the chin nd shckle, leds to reduced wer when compred to other types of ttchments. 9 HEKO

There is huge stock of different executions nd dimensions. The mentioned type R is ville in two sizes, type 481 with 99 mm pitch for chin 13 x 45, type 482 N with 95 mm pitch for chin 18 x 63. These chin locks hve the sme physicl properties to those of the corresponding chin. Fitting suggestions: Line-up rckets so tht the holes re in line nd weld rckets to the uckets using suitle electrode. Assemly of 2 components is simple s the chin only needs to e slckened slightly. Proper chin tension must e ssured t ll times y employing n efficient, preferly, self-tensioning device. Shortening of chin Should it e necessry to shorten the chin, only complete pir of chin ends, with equl numer of links, should e removed. Removing links from long chin strnds my e crried out y cold cutting, using cutting disc. As individul chin links my hve different tolernces, some mislignment should e expected when removing individul links. Heting the chin or welding should e voided. HEKO will e plesed to dvise. Mintennce/Wer Mesurement: All conveyor prts which my e suject to wer (wheels, chins, ucket ttchments, chin locks) should e checked regulrly for wer or dmge. Chin contct surfces re suject to norml wer, the extent of which depends on chin qulity, numer of link movements, contct lod nd mteril hndled. Wer in the contct res reduces the chin thickness nd thus hs direct reltionship to service life. Luriction, for exmple with oil, or incresed moisture content in the product increses wer, especilly with rsive mterils. Wheel scrpers nd other devices tht clen the wheel grooves reduce wer. Chins, wheels nd ucket ttchments should e checked thoroughly following n overlod condition. Chins nd chin wheels, or wheel rims, especilly toothed wheels, should lwys e replced t the sme time. Generlly we recommend replcement of the chin when 75% of the hrdening depth is worn nd less when toothed wheels re fitted. Dmged or distorted uckets ffect the chin centres, cusing contct etween the wheel grove, chin nd shckle nd resulting in premture chin/shckle filure. Such uckets must e replced or corrected s soon s possile. Nuts, securing the uckets should lso e checked regulrly nd re-tightened s necessry. Opertionl Informtion Centrl feed is essentil for voiding uneven ucket filling nd uneven wer etween the two chin strnds. If feed conveyors pproch the ele - vtor inlet t 900, corrective mesures re recommended y use of deflctors, swept inlet or convex inlet floor. Elevtor uckets must e fitted completely horizontlly. Bucket ttchment nuts should e tightened using torque spnner, idelly when resting on the drive wheels to ensure tht correct chin centres re mintined. After pprox. 2 weeks opertion, ll nuts should e re-tightened. We recommend the use of sfety discs or self-locking nuts to secure the ucket.
