1 APPLICATION Series RFLD Duplex In-Line Filter Welded Pressures to 230 psi Flows to 3900 gpm HYDAC RFLD in-line filters are designed for in-line mounting and are mainly used in continuously operating systems. These filters can be used in hydraulic, flushing, lubrication, fuel handling, coolant systems, and for extraction of solid particles from fluids used in industrial process engineering. The standard models are suitable for filtering mineral oils, nonflammable fluids, synthetic and rapidly biodegradable oils. For filtration of other fluids, such as water please contact the HYDAC filter applications department. PRODUCT FEATURES Models 1300 to are made of rolled steel housings with bolt-on steel lids; Stainless steel (1.4571) models are available. Several connection sizes for each filter size provide maximum connection flexibility eliminating additional adapters and intermediate flanges. Inlet and outlet connections are located on the same side of the transfer valve. Inlet on top and the outlet on bottom. Transfer valve and pressure equalization line allows easy changeover between filter housing without costly system shutdown. Models 5200 to use the same filter element size (1300 R) allowing maximum standardization in multiple filter element housing. Clogging indicators have no external dynamic seal. High reliability is acheived and magnetic actuation eliminates a leak point. RFLD Duplex In-Line Filters FILTER ELEMENTS HYDAC RFLD filters are available with disposable Betamicron (BN3HC) elements having 250 psid collapse pressure and absolute ratings from 3, 5, 10, and 20 micron. HYDAC RFLD filters are also available with cleanable elements. Wire screen (W/HC) elements have a 250 psid collapse pressure and nominal ratings of 25, 74, and 149 micron. For applications, which do not require fine filtration, disposable HYDAC Polyester (P/HC) elements may be selected. Polyester elements have 145 psid collapse pressure and nominal ratings of 10 and 20 micron. All filter media is supported to achieve flow fatigue resistance. Proper support of the filter media also provides high Beta Ratio values (particle removal efficiency) even at high differential pressures. The efficiency of many competitive elements drastically deteriorates as the element clogs and differential pressure increases. High quality epoxy adhesive is used to bond the end caps to the media and to bond the seam of the media. All elements available for RFLD filters have the bypass valve built into the filter element. As a result, a new bypass valve is provided each time the element is changed, making it less likely that a bypass valve will stick open, jam, or fail through fatigue.

5 Filter Sizing Calculations: The total pressure drop of a filter at a certain flow rate is the sum of the housing P (including change-over valve) and the element P. It must be stressed that all of the technical documentation at HYDAC always gives the total housing pressure drop, i.e. including change-over valve. The housing graphs apply to mineral oil with a specific gravity of 0.86 and kinematic viscosity of 141 SUS. In this case, the differential pressure changes proportionally to the viscosity and specific gravity. In each case, the P given is for the largest possible flange nominal width; up to size 150 for ball change-over, size 200 and above for butterfly change-over. 1.
