Vegetation removal and trimming is included in the unit price of the sign assembly. o not alter vegetation without prior approval from the ngineer. ign anels / aces 9. ll signs shall be ype retroreflective sheeting material.. se countersunk screws when using mechanical fasteners to attach sign panels to windbeams, brackets and splice plates for single and multipost signs.. atch attachment hardware, such as countersunk screws or rivet heads, with retroreflective buttons that match the color and sheeting material of the finished sign panel including the background, legend or border. 2. nsure the outside corner of sign is concentric with border. nsure white borders are mounted parallel to the edge of the sign. nsure black borders are recessed from the edge of the sign. 3. ownload the unass logo in icrostation format for use in sign fabrication from the urnpike's esign website: or obtain the logo by contacting the urnpike raffic lans ngineer at (407) he logo shall not be fabricated by hand cutout method. verlays 4. When using an aluminum sheet overlay, ensure the overlay is a minimum of 0.04 inches thick. etermine the sheeting material of the existing sign and ensure the overlay sheeting type matches the existing sign. 5. When using an adhesive overlay, ensure the overlay is a removable opaque film that adheres to the sign. nsure the sign face is clean and in good condition. nsure the removal of the adhesive film does not damage the sign. se the film overlay 6 months or less. se 3 ontroltac lus hangeable raphic ilm or equivalent. verhead igns 9. lign the far edge of the sign panel, furthest from the upright, flush with the end of the horizontal chord of the cantilever structure. ign anel eplacement 20. s part of sign panel replacements, include new vertical hanger beams, new horizontal wind beams, new bolts, new screws, new nuts, new washers, and all necessary hardware for a complete connection between the new sign panel and the existing sign structure. ign uminaires 2. nergize sign luminaires within 24 hours of overhead lighted sign installation. 22. "ight im" the sign luminaires to ensure proper illumination of the sign surface. he luminaires must be at an angle sufficient to prevent them from shining into the faces of drivers who are traveling in the opposite direction. 23. nsure sign luminaires are similar or equal to nfinity, or other listed wet proof induction sign luminaire capable of accepting 20 to 480 volts without an external transformer. learly note the luminaire tilt angle for each sign and ensure the same for all luminaires on each specific sign. lace the angle convention detail on submittals to clearly depict tilt orientation. se the following values for each area classification: 5 footcandles (low); 20 footcandles (medium); 2040 footcandles (high). nsure the maximum/minimum uniformity value does not exceed 6: ratio. hese values are average initial, use a maintenance factor of.00 in the calculations process. 24. nstall the luminaires as per the spacing produced in the scaled photometric documentation and sign data instruction obtained from the contract documents. hould any deviations take place from these documents, provide photometric calculations to scale complying with the above parameters and submit documentation to the ngineer of ecord prior to proceeding. 25. op mounted luminaires are prohibited on the mainline or ramps. ogo igns 26. t or in advance of interchanges, the blue specific service signs with gas, food, or lodging logo panels attached are owned and maintained by lorida ogos, nc. ll work associated with removing, storing or relocating the service signs is the responsibility of lorida ogos, nc. t least 4 calendar days prior to any conflicts between anticipated construction work and the blue specific service signs, coordinate with lorida ogos, nc. by telephone at t or in advance of urnpike service plazas, the blue specific service signs with gas, food or other logo panels attached are owned and maintained by lorida's urnpike nterprise. avement arking and eflective avement arkers 28. nsure the proposed pavement markings at all existing/proposed interface locations match the existing pavement markings in terms of alignment. emove conflicting pavement markings. 29. Work that includes extending or refurbishing of existing striping damaged during construction is included in the unit price of the pavement marking. 30. avement marking may be adjusted slightly as directed by the ngineer. 3. ay out permanent final striping that leaves no visible marks at time of final acceptance. 32. lace a green outside of ground in rumble strip at each mile marker. 33. When removing pavement messages via water blasting, the entire area within the pavement message, including the interior of the message that is not painted or have thermoplastic, shall be water blasted so that the message outline is completely obliterated and drivers are not able to read or see the scar outlining the former message. 6. Where panel overlays are specified, determine and match existing corner radii. emove all existing overlays prior to proposed overlay installation. he cost is considered incidental and is to be included in the pay item for proposed overlay. 7. or partial panel overlays, ensure all existing copy to be overlaid is completely covered. nsure the overlay does not cover any portion of the existing copy or border which is to remain visible. 8. xercise caution while relocating or overlaying existing signs to prevent damage to signs. Verify and match existing letter sizes and fonts for signs that require overlays prior to fabrication of new panel.
2 otes to esigners (not to be included in plan set general notes sheet). he following notes have been commonly used as general notes in plans; however, these notes duplicate the tandard pecifications for oad and Bridge onstruction..
