On Sunday, May 26, 2013, members threw off the winter doldrums, met at FOD, drove a circuitous road to Woodland Park, enjoyed lunch, and then glided down the Pass to Colorado Springs for a trip through the Garden of the Gods before returning to Denver. The Most Powerful Brand Worldwide The Global 500 survey, which analyses the financial and brand performance of major companies, has found that Ferrari is the world s most powerful brand. Ferrari out performs much larger manufacturers such as BMW, Volkswagen Mercedes, and Audi as well as all the other brands. One of the key considerations for brand value is revenue but the company s margins, revenue per customer, advertising and marketing spend are also considered. While Ferrari can t compete with the bigger multi-nationals in terms of size, it excels in important areas such as brand affection and loyalty. No other manufacturers made it in to the top five results, with Google, Coca-Cola, PwC and Hermes occupying second to fifth place respectively.

16 FERRARI CLUB OF AMERICA ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION JUNE & JULY 2013 The Lighter Side of Owning a Ferrari Ferrari Book Review by John J. Babos My interest in Ferraris started early. Some of you may recall the ol foxhole story. Sitting in the rain and mud and throwing old magazines from one pit to the next; and that s when I saw the Dino on the cover of a Car and Driver magazine. It was the car that won the Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining- Sea Memorial Trophy Dash and from that day on I was hooked by the Dino s looks. Anyhow, I started collecting Ferrari books at that point. I (I should say we, since Crystal is the purchasing approver) now have about 95 books on Ferrari s. Many of them from countries and in languages I ve never heard of. And let s not forget the magazines that are too numerous to count. Many of the books are classics and worth some money, at least I m told. I am often requested to provide documentation references for a specific Ferrari by numerous owners, some club members and some not. My latest book by Matthais Bartz, The Dino Compendium is fantastic. Everything you ever wanted to know about the Dino 206 and 246 is captured in a beautiful slip covered binding which is a feast for the eyes, unless of course you re not a fan of the Dino. But even then close to 400 some pages make for a great paperweight. Getting up in years I find that I favor books with more pictures than words, and what words there are, I prefer number 22 font. Reading confuses me, hurts me or puts me to sleep. I can only read about 5 minutes before I m catatonic. (Not to be confused with my schizophrenia which manifest itself in unpredictable ways). So as a result, I gravitated to Amerisepc s Ferrari Coloring Book. It contains drawings of all of the famous Ferraris that you can color in with your favorite crayon. Also, the only words in the book are the Ferrari s name or designation. Perfect for me. On one of those cold snowy days in April, I uncorked a few bottles of champagne and decided to apply my artistic skills to the pages containing the Ferrari 328 and the Dino 246. Not having any crayons I trudged down to the local school bus stop and purchased a box from a little first grader, (that shyster rug rat charged me $10.00 for a box of 24 crayons, most of which were broken and not even sharp). Then the fun began, the closer I looked and concentrated the more the pictures moved and got all squiggly, making it hard to stay inside the lines while coloring. It was a truly an exasperating experience but I was finally able to finish and can proudly show my masterpieces below. In conclusion, I highly recommend the book. However I suggest you find one that is already colored and save yourself hours of frustration. By the way, if you re interested, my artful masterpieces are for sale. All proceeds will be used to provide art classes for me.
