17 Longwall Beam Stage Loaders (BSL) Features Specifications BEAM STAGE LOADERS (BSL) The AFC is continuously running and conveys the coal mined by a shearer or plow to the head gate, where it is transferred onto the beam stage loader (BSL) with integrated crusher and then onto the main belt (eventually to the surface). Main Functions of a BSL: Transportation of the coal from the AFC and handover to the belt conveyor. Crushing of coal blocks to smaller sizes to suit belt capability.
