1 I_D_Specs_lab Vehicle Identification and Specifications Look for the vehicle emissions label. If your car does not have one inform the instructor. 1) Where is the emissions label on this vehicle? 2) According to the vehicle emissions label, what model year is this vehicle? 3) List the specific information about spark plugs found on this emissions label. 4) According to the vehicle emissions label, what engine is in this vehicle? (ask to be shown if you cannot find this) 5) What is the build date for this vehicle? (usually on frame of drivers door) Look up your vehicle on ShopKey. (Shopkey5.com) Search for the article that identifies each digit of the VIN numbers on this vehicle. * Try searching VIN definition or VIN identification in the search box. * A chart showing each digit of the VIN is often found under Engine Performance 6) How many characters (letters & numbers) are in the vehicle identification number? 7) What does the first position (letter or number) of the VIN tell you about your vehicle? 8) What position in the VIN will indicate the engine for this vehicle? 9) What position in the VIN will indicate the model year for this vehicle? Go to Maintenance/Fluids tab 10) What is the specified brake Fluid?
2 Find the Tire Fitment tab 11) According to the Tire Fitment guide, what is the specified front tire inflation pressure? 12) According to the Tire Fitment guide, what is the specified wheel lug nut torque? 13) According to Tire Fitment guide, how many lug nuts on each wheel and what is their size? Look for the Generic Tire Information article on Wheel Lug Nut Torque Information. 14) Once you snug down all lug nuts you should tighten them in a crisscross sequence. How far do you tighten one lug nut before going to the next? A) tighten each lug nut to the specified torque then go to the next in the sequence. B) tighten each lug nut to1/2 the specified torque then go to the next in the sequence C) tighten each lug nut to1/4 turn then go to the next in the sequence D) tighten each lug nut to1/2 turn then go to the next in the sequence E) tighten each lug nut to1 full turn then go to the next in the sequence Go to the Repair tab. Under the Quick Look-Ups category select Common Specs & Procedures 15) What information is found in the Specifications Index for Brakes? 16) What information can be found under Wheel & Tire? 17) According to the Specification Index, what is the wheel lug nut torque for this vehicle? 18) What is the Minimum Thickness for the front disc brake rotor on this vehicle? Review your answers above Make sure any specification you have listed clearly indicates the unit of measure. Complete a work order on your lab vehicle. For customer name use LBCC and copy the address and phone into the proper spots on the work order. List all students in your group under Technician.
