4 Administrative History The Muncie Weekly News was established by publisher Joe E. Mansfield in 1975 as a free weekly alternative newspaper in Muncie, Indiana. Contributors to the newspaper included Earl Conn, Tommy Thornburg, Andra Emmons, and John Hampton. The Delaware County Sports Times was established by Mansfield in 1982 and covered high school, college, and local club and intramural sporting events throughout Delaware County, Indiana. Both The Muncie Weekly News and the Delaware County Sports Times ceased publication in Winter Scope and Contents This collection includes newspapers, photographs, and other records ranging from 1961 to 1983 for the weekly newspapers The Muncie Weekly News ( ) and the Delaware County Sports Times (1982). Both newspapers were published by Joe E. Manfield in Muncie, Indiana under the corporate name Jem-Sue Publications, Inc. The first twelve issues of the newspaper were published under the title The Penny Pincher News. Several issues are missing from the collection.
