5 Page 5 of 8 Workshop on Sharing Best Practices in Power Generation The 5 th workshop on Sharing best practices in Power Generation was held on 30 th & 31 st July 2010 at Mumbai Cricket Association Recreation Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai The workshop was convened by MERC (Maharashtra Electricity & Regulatory Commission) & was hosted by The Tata Power Company Ltd The chief guest for the workshop was Shri Ajoy Mehta, MD, MAHADISCOM Other dignitaries were Shri S Padmanabhan; ED (Operations), The Tata Power Co Ltd; Shri R R Mehta, Sr Executive VP, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd; Shri V P Singh, Executive Director (O & M I) MSPGCL (Maharashtra State power generating company Ltd) and Shri K N Khawarey, Secretary (MERC) Mr S Padmanabhan welcomed the participants The theme of the workshop was Sizable & Sustainable initiatives in Power Generation Team from all three utilities (viz Tata Power Company Ltd, Reliance Infrastructure limited & MAHAGENCO) gave their presentation Tata Power Company team comprised of Mr Ashish Bhat, Mr S B Mulla, Mr Zakir Mulani & Mr Arun Tamhankar There were presentations along with case studies from six guest speakers The Guest speakers included Mr Cajetan Pinto of ABB ( Using Residual Lifetime Assessment as a Maintenance Tool for Large Rotating Machines ) Mr S Seshadri, Member National Environment Committee ( Development of Thermal Power Plants-Challenges ) Dr Avinash Patkar, CSO, Tata Power Company Ltd ( Clean Development Mechanism ), Mr Siddhartha Bhatt, Additional Director CPRI, ( Observations on best practices at generating utilities in Maharashtra ), Dr Vagish Shrinet Dy Director and Head (TDCC) at ERDA, Vadodara, ( Power Transformers RLA & DGA ) Mr Aditya Korde Executive Director Diagnostic Technologies ( Machine Diagnostics ) On the second day following dignitaries graced the function Shri V P Raja, Honorable Chairman, MERC Shri Subrat Ratho, MD MSPGCL & Secretary of Energy, Government of Maharashtra Shri M R Shelar, Director (Operations), MSPGCL Shri G J Girase, Director (Finance), MSPGCL The final session of the workshop was a panel discussion on Improvement in Plant Performance through improved HR Practices with the panel comprising of Shri Ashok Sethi, Vice President, Mumbai Operations, Tata Power Company Ltd, Shri Prasad Rao, Vice President (CTS), Reliance Infrastructure Ltd & Shri Arvind Choudhari, Executive Director, MSPGCL and chaired by Shri Subrat Ratho The session was very interesting & interactive The workshop concluded with vote of thanks by Mr V Srinivasan, AGM Performance & Planning, Tata Power Company Ltd Page 05 of 08 Page 5 of 8
