4 4 Objectives Objectives Main Objective: The aim of the Study is to contribute to the deployment of C-ITS in Europe by enhancing interoperability for autonomous vehicles as well as to boost the role of C-ITS as catalyst for the implementation of autonomous driving Sub-objectives: Deployment of three pilots that includes application for autonomous vehicles that will be deployed in Spain / Portugal / France in the Atlantic corridor. Test and Evaluate C-ITS services for autonomous vehicles under the applicable traffic regulation and study its extension to other European countries and contribute to the C-ITS platform and other European standards organizations Cooperate with other current initiatives on a large scale through the study of the current regulation for autonomous vehicles circulation in European urban nodes in terms Study on the rules of autonomous vehicles aimed primarily at urban nodes connected to the main transport network Location: Pilots will be implemented in 3 major Core Urban nodes (Paris, Madrid, Lisbon) located along the Core network Atlantic Corridor in 3 different Member States, tested in open and closed traffic to check the applicable traffic rules Smart Mobility 4

5 03 5 AUTONOMOUS AND COOPERATIVE DRIVING Study AUTOCITS aims to contribute to the deployment of C-ITS in Europe and to boost the role of C-ITS as catalyst for the implementation of autonomous driving Objectives: Study on the current National, European and International legal framework for autonomous driving Deploy, Test and Evaluate Day 1 C- ITS services as recommended by the ITS Platform for autonomous vehicles (AVs) under the applicable traffic regulation Provide recommendations for regulations and large scale deployments Cooperate with other current initiatives during the study Madrid Paris Lisbon Pilots Three Pilots will be implemented in Madrid, Paris and Lisbon in the Atlantic Corridor Location: The Bus-HOV Lane locaated between the M30 and M40 C-ITS Service: information service on incidents affecting the road Location: The A4 motorway between Villiers sur Marne and Logne C-ITS Service: traffic information concerning emergency situations Location: Connection between the A36 motorway and the Av. Marginal C-ITS Service: notifications on slow or stationary vehicles Smart Mobility 5

6 6 Madrid Pilot Description Location: The selected road for the pilot in Spain is the Madrid Urban Node: A specific stretch between the M30 and M40 the main urban and interurban nodes in Madrid. This segment is a reversible lane for High Occupancy Vehicles (VAO) that is open, closed and reversed in function of the traffic demand, with an affluence of more than vehicle / day. Partners: INDRA, UPM and DGT Equipment: Road Side Units will be deployed along the road to provide information to the autonomous vehicles. These RSUs will include communication equipment and monitoring equipment. The Control Center will also be equipped with specific equipment to deploy the C-ITS Service C-ITS Service: Hazardous location notifications: Road works warning, weather conditions, emergency vehicle approaching, slow or stationary vehicle and other hazardous location notifications will be notified from a Control Center to the vehicles Autonomous Vehicle: 2 autonomous vehicles will be used in this pilot.
