2 General background The solar market is growing in the Philippines and with the release of the feed-in-tariffs and the Net Metering Rules and Interconnection Standards, the regulatory process is finally in place. The industry experiences growing demand in the residential and commercial rooftop segment as well as in the integration of PV in island grids and for off grid resorts. This increased demand represents a market opportunity for the German PV- Hybrid industry providing quality products and solutions. Key to entering the Philippine PV-Hybrid market is the establishment of business partnerships with local solar and power generation companies. The renewables Made in Germany initiative has successfully enabled many German companies to partner with reputable Philippine businesses in addition to facilitating information exchange and supporting the development of enabling framework conditions. Among others, the initiative conducted two business trips of German companies under the theme of PV-Hybrid in Off-grid & Mini-grid Solutions to the Philippines resulting in initial business match-making. These relationships were further deepened by the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd German Solar Training Week during which over 350 participants underwent technical and project development training. The previous GSTWs were very well received by the Philippine companies and resulted in a better appreciation of German technology and engineering and increased business for the German companies participating. The successful GSTW format has been adopted on a worldwide basis. Based on this positive experience, GPCCI in cooperation with GIZ will organize the 4 th GSTW in February/March 2016.

3 4 th German Solar Training Week PV Hybrid and Off Grid Solutions The six days from 29 February to 5 March 2016 offer a unique opportunity for German companies to present themselves to the Philippine market at two outstanding events thereby maximizing the value of the stay in the Philippines: 1. 4 th German Solar Training Week, the largest solar training event in the Philippines 2. Press conference about the 4 th German Solar Training Week, Monday, February 29, 2016 The 4 th German Solar Training Week is designed as a series one day or half day expert trainings of German companies to Philippine partners and potential customers. The partner training offers a unique opportunity for German system integrators, consultants and technology providers to demonstrate their value add through professional training and support, to position themselves as trustworthy and reliable partners and to build lasting business relationships in the Philippines. Past participants from the German as well as the Philippines rated the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd German Solar Training Week very highly. Many trainings were overbooked indicating the interest from both sides. The participants are charged a small fee on a per day basis covering administration, venue and food costs. There will be no fees for the German companies presenting at the GSTW. GPCCI/AHK Philippinen will take care of the administration and registration for the trainings in the Philippines and can assist the German companies on hotel booking, shipment of material and the organization of partner activities the German firms would like to host, for example a cocktail receptions.
