19 The acquisition of Kugelfertigung Eltmann, today PRÄZISIONSKUGELN ELTMANN GmbH, in 2011 has given UmbraGroup a distinct advantage over many of its compatitors including multinational bearing companies. The steel ball is a key component to bearings and ballscrews. Umbra has been producing medium to large size bearings for more than 45 years. Our strength lies within the ball bearings product line and we also manufacture cylindrical, tapered and spherical roller bearings for a variety of applications. The Company produces ballscrews for industrial applications. Umbra covers the entire process, from design and development to aftermarket service. The Company is also leader in aerospace ballscrew production. Umbra custom design with its own ballscrews, bearings and electric motors leads to the state-of-the-art electromechanical actuator for medium to high workloads. Upon request, customized configurations are available (integrated design, preload, materials and treatments). Umbra produces a wide range of elctrospindles for multiple applications. The electrospindles are especially suited for milling machines (wood, glass, marble, steel, plastic) and also for grinding machines. Umbra milling heads are suited for a wide range of high speed applications. The peculiar axis design allows high machining flexibility. Further advantage is given by its compactness. Integrated axis brakes are also available. 19

STEEL Bearings used in the Iron and Steel Industries are exposed to a multitude of operating conditions, often critical.

Duty cycle may allow shock loads, so the outer ring is typically heat treated to a soft core in order to provide extra high toughness.

They face extreme load and speed combinations, not to mention contamination. Duty cycle includes significant shock loads.

28 STEEL Bearings used in the Iron and Steel Industries are exposed to a multitude of operating conditions, often critical. Such conditions include either high or slow speed operation, high temperature and contaminated environments. Duty cycle may allow shock loads, so the outer ring is typically heat treated to a soft core in order to provide extra high toughness. MINING AND PROCESSING Bearings operating in mining and processing industries have to work under severe conditions. They face extreme load and speed combinations, not to mention contamination. Duty cycle includes significant shock loads. MACHINE TOOL INDUSTRY Bearings installed in machine tools are required to operate at high speed with extreme precision and high rigidity. Contamination must be kept at a minimum in order to guarantee fail safe operation. 28
