9 Export activities of Turkish Manufacturers The companies in Turkey follow the business model of the Greek manufacturers - selling OEM collectors on export markets. However, market data on Turkey is very limited. There is one estimation of an export rate of 10 % in the year 2008 by the national association Gunder (see Since flat plate collectors are loosing market share in Turkey (see however some of the major local manufacturers have increased production for the export business, the export rate has for sure increased since 2008 to round about 20 %. 1.3 million m 2 of flat plate collectors were produced and sold on the Turkish national market in Supposing an extra 20 % produced in Turkey for exporting this adds up to 260,000 m 2 mainly traded by the seven large exporters in Turkey (Ezinc, Istek, Derya, Solimpeks, Eraslan, Ouraset, Baymak). Trend: Consolidation of the industry The Sun s Vision assumes a total number of 2,800 companies in the solar thermal industry, of which 1,600 are solar water assembly companies and 1,200 are suppliers that produce and deliver the parts. 100 enterprises have standardised the way they assemble solar water heaters. The market share of these popular brand products has increased from less than 40 % to 70 % in recent years. 1,000 companies have closed their doors in the last two years (Yinbin Li, deputy General Manager at Linuo Paradigma) The larger companies are growing faster than the market. Trend: Engineering projects - large potential of growth Slowdown in the growth: 2009/2010 (17 %) and the growth rate 2010/2011 (16 %) and 2011/2012 (11 %) a third of the previous years with annual growth rates of 30 %. Reasons: slowdown in the building sector because of government restrictions and a certain saturation in the rural areas. 19 Protection measure against Chinese products worldwide In Turkey the share of vacuum tubes in the newly installed collector area increased from 4 to 28 % between 2007 and 2011 (around 500,000 m2 in 2011). Since July 2011 there is an import tax against vacuum tubes in place 60 % of the newly installed collector area in the fiscal year 2012/2013 are vacuum tubes (1,4 million m2. It is not allowed to import vacuum tube collectors only vacuum tubes and Jharkhand state has stopped accepting vacuum tube collectors in subsidy scheme. 1 st of June the government reduces the level of subsidy for vacuum tubes by 15 %. In 2009 in Mexico vacuum tube collectors made up already 48 % of the residential collector. Since October 2011 pressureless double-glass vacuum tubes are not any more eligible for the green house loans programme India: The market is completely shifting to vacuum tubes with around 60 to 70% of the newly installed collector area covered by vacuum tubes in the fiscal year 2012/2013 (1.4 million m2) Since 1 Juni 2013 the incentive level for residential vacuum tube collector systems decreased by 15 % and the one from commercial vacuum tube collector systems by 10 % BSW Exportarbeitskreis
