English Instruction Guide 7EN Multirall 200 Prod. No Multirall is a versatile new type of overhead lift with many different applications. Multirall can easily be moved between different rail systems, without the need of tools. Multirall can also be used for room-to-room transfers of patients between different rail systems and requires no openings over doorways. Multirall can be used just as a normal overhead lift with the lift unit mounted directly under the rail (right illustration). A complete range of accessories is available for Multirall, including different types of slings in a variety of models and sizes. Multirall is appropriate for all common lift and transfer situations; for example, from bed-to-wheelchair, to and from the floor, for visits to the lavatory and bath, for gait training, and for horizontal lifts with stretchers. Multirall can be equipped with scales, for safe and easy weighing of patients during lifts. Caution! triangles are used to warn of situations that demand extra care and attention. In this document, the person being lifted is referred to as the patient and the person helping is referred to as the caregiver.! CAUTION! Carefully read these instructions and the instructions for the particular lifting accessory being used. Lifting and transferring patients always present a potential risk. It is essential to thoroughly understand the contents of these manuals, and that only trained personnel use the equipment. If you have questions, please contact Liko or your local Liko representative.

Assembly Instructions The Multirall rail systems must be assembled and installed according to the installation instructions provided by Liko. Mount the carriage for Multirall in the rail system, then install and secure end-stops in the rail ends with the bolts provided. The rail system must always be tested with maximum load immediately after installation. Multirall can be mounted to the carriage Quick-release Hook in two ways: Alt. A. With the strap above the lift unit. This alternative is recommended in cases where the lift unit is to be moved frequently between different rail systems, or when the lift is to be used for room-to-room transfers. 1. Feed out the desired length of lift strap. This is done by applying tension to the strap while feeding out the desired length by pressing the button, marked in the desired direction. Caution: Operate the lift only when tension is applied to the lift strap! 2. When the lift strap has been adjusted to the desired length, connect the strap to the carriage Quickrelease Hook and raise the lift to the appropriate height. 3. Connect the slingbar to the lift (see User's Guide, p. 5). Note! Remove the Hang-Up Handcontrol Hanger when the lift unit is installed according to the instructions above (see illustration). Alt. B. With the strap below the lift unit. This alternative is recommended in cases where the lift unit is to be installed in the same rail system over a longer period of time. Mount Multirall by hooking the carriage Quick-release Hook directly to the lift unit s universal connector, then connect the desired slingbar to the strap connector (see User's Guide, p. 5). The lift strap and lifting accessories are then suspended under the lift unit. Multirall may not be equipped with a Strap Gripper when the lift unit is mounted with the lift strap under the lift unit (see illustration, above). This may result in the Strap Gripper getting caught in the lift strap. After assembly, make sure that: the directions of movement by the lift coincide with symbols on the handcontrol; both the mechanical and the electrical emergency lowering devices function as they should; the battery charger and the indicator lights function; the batteries are charged. 4 Liko www. liko. com

User's Guide Operation Multirall is operated by lightly pressing the buttons on the handcontrol. The arrows indicate the direction of movement. Release the buttons to stop the lift. Multirall can also be operated by pressing the directional buttons on the endplate. The arrow corresponds to the direction of travel when the lift unit is mounted with the lift strap above the lift unit. Caution: Operate the lift only when tension is applied to the lift strap! Changing the Slingbar Multirall can be used with most of Liko slingbars and stretchers. To attach lifting accessories, use Liko Quick-release Hook systems. Electrical Emergency Lowering Remember to always lower the patient to a bed, wheelchair, or other suitable place. If power is disrupted due to a malfunction in the electronics or the handcontrol, you can lower the patient by pressing the Down button located on the end plate. The arrow corresponds to the direction of travel when the lift unit is mounted with the lift strap above the lift unit. Mechanical Emergency Lowering Remember to always lower the patient to a bed, wheelchair, or other suitable place. Press the red button marked Emergency on the lift unit. Note: load must be applied to the lift for it to be lowered in this manner. Emergency Stop Emergency stop: press the red button. To reset: turn the button in the direction of the arrows. SSP Limit Switch For reliable operation, during lifting, it is important that the lift strap is as close to vertical as possible (i.e., the lift unit is directly above the centre of gravity). The SSP Limit Switch is intended to halt the lifting motion if the lift strap is subjected to strain that may damage it; e.g., if it pulls at a bias or becomes twisted during lifting. If the SSP Limit Switch is activated, so that lifting is interrupted, the lift unit must first be run downward before lifting (upward motion) can be resumed. Hang-Up Handcontrol Hanger When not in use, the handcontrol can be hung on the Hang-Up. 5 Liko www. liko. com

Charge Indicator Multirall has two indicators for low battery charge: a buzzer sounds during lifting a diode lights up during lifting The battery should be charged immediately when either of these indicators is activated. Adjustable Friction Brake The speed at which the lift unit travels along the rail can be regulated via the friction brake on the carriage. Turn the brake adjustment screw clockwise to increase resistance and counter-clockwise to reduce resistance. The following carriages are equipped with adjustable friction brakes: Prod. No and Charging the Batteries To obtain maximum battery life, you must charge the batteries regularly. We recommend that the batteries be charged whenever the lift is not in use. The batteries are fully charged after approximately 8 hours. When fully charged, batteries in good condition are sufficient for approximately 60 lift cycles. The charger is approved for use in damp areas. 1. Make sure the emergency stop button is not pressed in. 2. Insert the handcontrol in the battery charger. 3. Connect the charger to a V wall socket. 4. The green light indicates that the charger is connected to the power supply. 5. The charging starts automatically and the yellow light indicates that the batteries are charging. 6. When the batteries are fully charged, the charger stops automatically and the yellow light shuts off. Old batteries are to be returned to authorized Liko personnel, or left at the nearest recycling station. 6 Liko www. liko. com

Room-to-Room with Multirall Requirements for room-to-room transfers when using Multirall: 1. Both rooms have separate rail systems, each with a carriage equipped with a Quick-release Hook at an appropriate height and within reach for the caregiver (in some cases, adjustable extension belts are used to achieve the appropriate height). 2. Between the rooms, suspended under the doorframe top piece, a so-called "Room to Room Strap" is mounted, acting as a bridge between the rooms. 3. A Multirall lift unit with a Strap Gripper mounted on one of the extension belt connectors. Room-to-room Transfer Room to Room Strap Strap Gripper Multirall is mounted on the carriage in room 1. Move the patient as close as possible to the doorway. Connect the Strap Gripper to the Room to Room Strap (see illustration below). 7 Liko www. liko. com

Lower Multirall until the Room to Room Strap carries the full weight of the patient. Then, run out an extra 10 cm (4 inch.) of lift strap to provide enough slack to enable it to be disconnected. Keep hand tension on the lift strap as you run it out of the lift motor. Disconnect the lift strap from the Quick-release Hook in room 1 and connect it to the Quick-release Hook in room 2. To prevent the lift strap from twisting (which in turn causes the SSP Limit Switch to activate, see page 5), the lift unit must be turned manually so that the lift strap is straight when it runs into the lift unit (see inset illustration). Only when the lift strap runs straight into the lift unit can the transfer to room 2 proceed (see inset illustration). Run the lift up until the weight of the patient has been fully transferred to the carriage in room 2. It is very important to ensure that the strap does not twist while it is running up, as this would cause it to bind as it enters the lift unit. Disconnect the Strap Gripper. Transfer the patient to room 2. Check carefully at each stage to ensure that the load-bearing Quick-release Hook is securely fastened! 8 Liko www. liko. com

Installation and Adjustment of Room to Room Strap (Prod. No ) Below, installation and adjustment of the Room to Room Strap are described. The Room to Room Strap will be mounted relatively close to the doorframe, depending on the height of the doorframe top piece. However, it is important that the strap is mounted at such a height that the caregiver can reach it to connect the lift unit. The min. distance from the floor to the lowest point on the Room to Room Strap should be 190 cm (74.80 inch.) to enable optimum lifting height. The Room to Room Strap must not fit so closely around the doorframe that the Strap Gripper is inhibited from sliding freely Strap cover 2. Safety pin (4x48 mm) 3. Strap joint 1. Start by connecting the Room to room Strap to the Quickrelease Hook in one room. Extend the strap so that it reaches the Quick-release Hook in the other room. NOTE! Make sure to leave enough room for the Strap Gripper to move freely under the doorframe. Hold your thumb and index finger on the marked spot (see illustration) while the strap is unhooked. 2. Measure the length of the strap, as illustrated. 3. Slide the strap covers away from the strap joints (on both ends of the strap). 4. Remove the safety pin and loosen the strap. Repeat on the other strap joint. 5. Adjust both ends of the strap to the desired length (as measured in step 2). NOTE! Excess strap must not be cut off, due to the risk of the strap gliding out. 6. Thread the folded strap end into the strap joint, as indicated by the arrows. 7. Replace the safety pin into the strap fold. 8. Tighten the strap properly. Make sure that the safety pin is correctly mounted, so that it prevents the strap from gliding out. 9 Liko www. liko. com

9. Slide the strap cover back over the strap joint. Repeat steps 6-9 on the other end of the strap. 10. Connect the Room to Room Strap to the Quick-release Hooks. The loose strap ends should now have the same length. NOTE! Excess strap must not be cut off, due to the risk of the strap gliding out. Adjustment of Adjustable Extension Belt (Prod. No ) The procedure for adjusting the Adjustable Extension Belt is described below. Before adjusting the strap, measure the appropriate length to enable optimal working height for the caregiver. 1. Slide the strap cover away from the strap joint. 2. Remove the safety pin and loosen the strap. 3. Adjust the strap to the desired length. 4. Thread the folded strap end into the strap joint, as indicated by the arrows. 5. Replace the safety pin into the strap fold. 6. Tighten the strap properly. Make sure that the safety pin is correctly mounted, so that it prevents the strap from gliding out. 7. Slide the strap cover back over the strap joint. 8. The Extension Belt is now ready for use. 10 Liko www. liko. com
