Harting, and control components from Selectron (MAS 83x/73x). With the positioning function of RFID measurement points on the track and near field antenna in the driver s seat, this system provides the following features: 1. Driver assistance systems a. Electronic driver s logbook Firewall VAG Corporate Network Concept Overview Approval of the RFID system lies within the vehicle approval according to BOStrab (referred to in English as the Ordinance on the Construction and Operation of Street Railways). Selectron creates the entire functional specification, plus the required application software for the RFID evaluation system, based on the customer requirements. Selectron also develops further tools for track-side database applications for implementation of dynamic parameter changes. Here, route data is dynamically managed on the system and evaluated in the RFID system. Furthermore, driving permissions are dynamically updated on the RFID system by the vehicle operators and evaluated for driving from the system. In addition to RFID evaluation functions, Selectron components take on the functionality of a full diagnostics system for all vehicle components of the information and communication network. This includes error evaluation and a HMI-displayed course of action for drivers, with data transfer to a track-side diagnostic database system. MODERNIZATION PROJECT ZSI-90 For a modernization project, in cooperation with the train operator Transport Publics Lausannois (tl), the obsolete train protection ZSI 90 introduced by Integra-Signum 1) during the early 90s, has been replaced by a complete safety solution named TPC 800 TG from Selectron. The TPC 800-TG fulfills exactly the same functional requirements as the ZSI-90 system at tl. Additionally, it has been developed in accordance with the EN (SIL2) standard and has been assessed by TÜV NORD. The TPC 800-TG system is located in a 19-inch rack that is compatible with ZSI-90 and can be replaced by plug and play. Selectron also developed a customer-specific monitoring tool. With this tool, the train operator is able to check the action history (via status messages) when the emergency brake has been applied by the train protection system, and also supports maintenance actions. Short Functional Description The train has two sensors mounted on the bottom to store the magnets polarity of the two trackside magnets near the signals. As soon as the train is traveling too fast over a speedmeasuring segment, restricted by two consecutive trackside magnet groups or driving over a stop signal, the train will be stopped immediately by applying the emergency brake. 1) Integra Signum was acquired by Siemens in

Crucial for the train protection was to obtain a safe train speed acquisition system combined with dead man circuitry in the driver cabins according to the National requirements of the Comisión Nacional de Regulación del Transporte (CNRT). Benito Roggio Ferroindustrial developed and certified a complete SIL 2 system called "Sistema Ferroviario de Control Automático de Velocidad" (SFCAV-HV), allowing measuring and controlling of speed automatically when a train exceeds the maximum speed limits given by trackside balises. In the case of overspeed, traction is isolated and emergency braking is initiated. As an option to the SFCAV, compulsory dead man functionality is incorporated into this control system at virtually no additional cost. When upgrading the Toshiba fleet, this dead man option was largely installed. Brief Functional Description The vehicle speed is measured by axle-mounted incremental speed sensors; these perform with multiple phaseshifted signal channels. Even at zero-speed, the sensor provides superimposed life signals; this allows detection of the traveling direction and achieves the required safety integrity level. The controller installed in the cabinet behind the driver s area is suited to speed processing, reading programmable wireless RFID Eurobalises, and interfacing with SIL 2 driver desk displays. It includes dead man functionality, alerts the driver with optical or acoustic alarms, and stops the train in case of overspeed all in a safe way. MODERNIZATION OF ALSTOM S LINT VEHICLES The one-piece diesel-hydraulic vehicles were developed and built from 1999 for the European market by Alstom Transportation and named after their approximate lengths: Lint 27, 41, 54, and 81. There are currently over 700 vehicles in use. From 2003 until the end of 2015, equipping the TCMS involved deploying Schneider Electric s Modicon control system together with the Selectron MAS 72x remote I/O system. Between 1999 and 2003, a TCMS system consisted exclusively of Schneider Electric Modicon components. During the continuous development of this vehicle platform, Alstom Transportation faced the challenge of replacing the TCMS system that had been in use for many years. Since 2014, the Modicon controller from 1999 to 2003 has been officially discontinued; long term availability is no longer offered. The challenge in this phase of modernization is to achieve, as far as possible, a 1:1 replacement solution using current Selectron components from the MAS 83x/73x portfolio. Migration of the approved application software was of particular importance here it was to minimize engineering time and effort, use existing specifications, and be able to apply existing test procedures. Existing application code should be used 1:1 as much as possible and, where necessary, adapted for the hardwarelevel interfaces on the new modules. Vehicle homolgation was successfully achieved; the vehicles have already been shipped and, as in September 2016, will be handed over to customers. After any speed excess, CNRT regulations stipulate deadman functionality to trigger emergency braking at specific time intervals dependent on actual vehicle speed. 6 7
