2 TEC, philosophy ABB BU Transformers TEC was launched by ABB in year 2002 to improve transformers performance. More than 250 units are now in service. TEC philosophy is based on the following points: TEC monitors just enough parameters to perform three basic functions: Early detect potential malfunctions that may trigger a more detailed investigation or intervention. Real time condition assessment to allow conditionbased maintenance Overload and temperature forecast to increase availability of transformer Besides monitoring, TEC can perform an advanced control of the cooling equipment TEC is an open system that can integrate signals from many other sensors TEC is available for brand new and existing transformers, both ABB and other brands
